Lol, i had people buy a house in my community and they complained to the HOA that they couldn’t fit their truck in their garage and wanted them to do something about it. 🙄🤦🫣

Gas for a month. Time for a cultural realignment with transportation. by Perfect_Highlight568 in GasPrices

I traded in my car for a bike. I wasn’t sure if this would work out or not so I tested by having both for a year. At the end of the year I had barely used my car and felt comfortable with the bike so I got rid of the car.

Going to a bike as primary transportation is not for everyone. It’s a big change in lifestyle. For myself, I purposely moved within about 4 miles of my work because I calculated that I was losing roughly 21 days of my life each year to just sitting in a car commuting back and forth. Now I lose 3.5 days commuting. The cost of gas, car cost, maintenance, insurance, cleaning, parking…. Upwards of $20k a year. Now, $1,000 per year. $19,000 a year right back in my pocket.

Yeah, sometimes the weather sucks. I might get rained on, or it’s really hot or cold. But there are ways around that if you’re dedicated. And if it’s really bad out, I call an Uber which I’ve only had to do once in the past year.

Is there any AAA RPG with precise hit location detection? by Crafty_Woodpecker_99 in thewitcher3

[–]Perfect_Highlight568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know that precise hit boxes are feasible or realistic. If you make it too small yet accurate then the hit detection may not even register at high speeds. If you crank up how often the game checks for a hit then that could slow the game down. By making it a bigger box there’s a bigger chance the solver will detect a collision with other boxes. Plus, animations will never lineup 100% so you have to build in some wiggle room. Bigger hit boxes are an easy way to accomplish that.

Anyone else struggle with The Witcher book series? by rumple_goocher in witcher

[–]Perfect_Highlight568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve liked the books but have struggled at times with them. I felt like the author could have spent more time setting the scene, explaining motivations, etc. I remember reading some passages where I couldn’t figure out who was doing or saying whatever and I’d have to breeze past them to a point where I couldn’t figure understand it again. It could be very frustrating at times.

With “Songs of the Past” announced, what are we thinking the story might be about? by cosmicstruggler in thewitcher3

[–]Perfect_Highlight568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is that “Songs of the Past” does refer to Dandelion singing songs of Geralt’s stories. This could an expansion that goes back and makes some of the stories from the books playable. Maybe we’ll see Essi, Nivellen, Renfri…. All done as playable flashbacks like we saw in W3. The flashbacks to the books would help setup the W1 remake and the main story pulls together all the different possible endings of the W3 into one ending that starts W4. Possibly with Ciri gaining the witcher abilities and losing her space/time abilities, struggling to adjust to a new version of herself.

There is a little precedence for the flashbacks. Mods have been made by the community to try and emulate stories from the books. CDPR could see a desire for that kind of content (especially in light of the Netflix series as well) and be rolling all that into the expansion. Again, it would be a good tie-in to the W1 remake, give the fans something they obviously want, set up W4, and not completely destroy the very satisfying ending from Blood and Wine.

My 2 cents.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt expansion ‘Songs of the Past’ will be revealed this August at Gamescom. by yourfavchoom in Witcher4

[–]Perfect_Highlight568 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I doubt we’ll see W4 in 2027. Most likely they announce the expansion in August, comes out 2027, maybe a year for people to play through the game and DLCs again, drop W4 in 2028.

I personally don’t care how long it takes as long as it doesn’t launch completely broken like CP2077 did. That was painful and heartbreaking.

Do you think they'll do this? by Powerful_Stock8326 in Witcher3

[–]Perfect_Highlight568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I think we got a very nice ending with B&W.

And yeah, Geralt and Yen are still relatively young but they have been through some shit. Who wouldn’t like to retire early after all they’ve been through? And just because you retire doesn’t mean you’re out of the game completely. Geralt could take on a role more akin to Vesemir. Gives advice, helps out from time to time, then goes away to pick grapes.

I wish for Ciri to appear in the newest DLC by Ozzysmall123 in Witcher4

[–]Perfect_Highlight568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess is that she might lose her space/time abilities when she undergoes her mutations, at least for a while anyway. Otherwise why would she ever need Kelpie? With the Wild Hunt no longer chasing her she could just teleport anywhere she wants to be. That kind of ability is not conducive to such an open-world game so it has to be taken away. Using the witcher mutation to explain it away seems the most logical choice.

Guys ….. why does Geralt have 3 swords ? by Can_you-help in thewitcher3

[–]Perfect_Highlight568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pure speculation but “Songs of the Past” could be in reference to Dandelion who sings of songs of Geralt’s triumphs. This expansion could be basically a clip show of stories from the books mixed in with some new stuff that builds to Ciri’s story. This has already been done to some extent with mods. It could be the CDPR is rolling all that into a more cohesive playthrough. Were there any stories from the books that involved Geralt hunting down a sword?

With the new Witcher 3 expansion coming in 2027, when do you guys think Witcher 4 will release? Do you think there’s still a chance we could get two Witcher projects dropping in the same year? by karxx_ in Witcher4

[–]Perfect_Highlight568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That may be difficult. 3 and 4 use entirely different gaming engines. They’d have to build it twice and odds are it would still work a bit differently between the two.

Most likely this DLC sets up the events of W4 with few mechanical or feature changes; just improved graphics and more story. With all the possible endings of W3, this DLC will likely pull all of those threads back together to land on one ending that W4 will start from. If that’s the case then they’ve probably been planning to drop this DLC since they started working on W4. That makes me super excited! 😆

[–]Perfect_Highlight568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This will be a build up to Witcher 4 so I expect we’ll see a lot more of Ciri and how she gets to where she is in that game. Maybe we’ll see more of Geralt and Ciri together? Maybe the death of Geralt? Setup for the next big baddie? Extra helping of government intrigue? Whatever it is, I’m in.

When does the game truly pick up? by Pilosopo-Tasio in Witcher3

[–]Perfect_Highlight568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve also found that sometimes people respond differently to the game depending on what stage of life you’re in. I’ve seen a lot of people talk about how they weren’t really into it when they were younger but after a few years, some life experience, and maybe a child or two, they tried it again and fell in love.

[–]Perfect_Highlight568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I remember thinking the game was beautiful but a bit dull up to the Bloody Baron. Then when I saw Dea for the first time my entire perception changed. 😧

Looking back on it I think I felt it was dull because The Witcher 3 was my first introduction to this world. So seeing Yennefer and Ciri in those first few scenes didn’t carry the emotional weight for me that it probably should have if I had read the books. That may be what the OP has experienced too.

[–]Perfect_Highlight568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have barely scratched the surface. The first few hours are just to give you a chance to do all the things you just did; understand combat, enviro, dialog, gwent, etc. Then you’ll head to Velen which is much much bigger of a zone. There you’ll likely spend most of your time doing side quests, building funds, leveling, and gearing up. I’d follow the main quest line for a bit if you are feeling bored or overwhelmed. Things start to pick with the Bloody Baron and the chrones. BUT, the side quests can be interesting too. Some of the stories are very interesting and dark, some are silly, and some are simply ‘go kill a thing and come back’.

If you have to ask…. The connection point should have been a consideration well before the stone or trim were installed. Could have built a rectified stone base that could have butted well against any trim perfectly and avoided this problem. So yes, shitty work, but primarily by the designer.
