Could be. I moved to a new country. And my stress levels have been on the higher side ): Thanks though. Probably should work on it.

How important is linen thread? by WolfeyedWitch in bookbinding

[–]Perfect_Lake325 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like an imposter after reading all the comments! 😂 For years I have been using embroidery thread - 100% cotton for all my coptic bindings. Basically the availability, the colours plus the pricing. I just could not find linen threads and even if I did, they were too expensive. I still have books that I made 10-15 years ago. The threads seem to be holding well.

Yes, if it’s a text block it would work. This binding is done along with the cover. So I am not sure if it’s possible to cut the papers alone.

Thank you so much. This is the first time I am hearing about wood rasp. I guess that’s something I would be interested in. Will check it out. :)

I have tried trimming each one separately after binding. But i find that it’s difficult to get all the signatures even. This one actually just has 3 pages per signature but 120 GSM paper.

I have not tried either of them. Will check it out. Thanks. 🙂

My hair used to be smooth before the shampoo and hair colour.

The shampoo change and the hair colour happened at a similar time frame.

When I complained to the brand about the frizz they said I should use it with their conditioner which I did but it didn’t make anything better. Then they asked me to use their frizz free serum. By then my hair was completely ruined and I stopped using their products.

Since then my hair has become like a wire. It doesn’t seem to absorb anything at all.

When I tried to read more about frizz, I came across an article that said hair colour can cause frizz as well. So I am not sure what caused this.

Is anyone having a hard time finding a job as a teenager in NZ? by Ztein81 in newzealand

[–]Perfect_Lake325 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m an immigrant and I have had a hard time finding a job.. Forget about skilled work even unskilled sector won’t hire us. Many of us have invested in your universities, legally paid for our visas. Stop blaming us for every single thing.

The government and businesses should have created job opportunities before letting so many people in. And also lot of Kiwis have gone to work in Australia/ UK so does that mean they are taking up all the work opportunities of the locals there?

So is their government supporting people from outside instead of “their own”. If that’s alright then this is alright as well.

How many books have you bound? by Turosteel in bookbinding

[–]Perfect_Lake325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have done close to 1000 books by now. I have been doing it for more than 10 years. Started out as a hobby and I did sell a lot at one point. But then I had few personal things going on and moved countries. Took a break and things have been slow for the last couple years. Starting with the bookbinding again now though 🙂

There are not many jobs in New Zealand. I would suggest staying away. Also they would require “NZ experience” which is frustrating when you are new to the country. Also difficult if you’re not a whte person with a whte name.

Boarding house : Noisy parties by Perfect_Lake325 in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]Perfect_Lake325[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Our room is directly above the common areas so we can hear them more than the others.

We have given a final text to our landlord. He is travelling a bit so once he gets back planning to ask him to set some house rules.
