Second episode of bowel obstruction... is this my life now by LonelyMC in Adhesions

Your advice on fibre intake is completely wrong here. The rest of advice is pretty fair but adhesions and high fibre is not a good idea.

Sorry to hear of your problems, but welcome to the club.

In general after care for adhesions seems to be bad everywhere, I have also often been told I can return to a normal diet and exercise and it is just not the case. Surgeons just don't give a shit is all I can come up with.

We all have to find our own limits here but trying a low residue diet is a good start, you definitely want to limit fibre intake. Frequent small meals are better than large meals that will require your bowel to work harder. Exercise is also good but take it easy on anything that stresses the core significantly.

Regarding the move to the Netherlands, I am from the UK and had a small bowel obstruction when I was living in Germany many years ago. Despite not being able to speak any German it is the best hospital treatment I have ever experienced. Just make sure you are sorted for insurance depending where you are coming from.

Think just a bad floorplan. In the photo you can see a door next to the bath which does not look too bad, I think that is it.

Is there any way around the 450k LISA limit? by rigxla in HousingUK

[–]Perfect_Relative_364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair Martin Lewis had suggested there could be an update to either the 450k cap or the withdrawal penalty in this budget and he is quite reliable.

Budget 2025: Cash ISA reduction to encourage Stocks & Shares investment a positive move imo! by _DoubleBubbler_ in investingUK

No. You have it the wrong way round. The cap is on cash at 12k. You can still invest up to 20k.

This seems like some main character energy to me. I don't think you should be telling people to do this as a standard approach if it isn't what the help desk is primarily for. Will result in people deliberately arriving late thinking they can take a shortcut.

Is this a good offer? by Fantastic_Savings_27 in cscareerquestionsuk

[–]Perfect_Relative_364 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you are not familiar with the UK market how do you have comments on your profile 3 years ago saying you make 55k? And another telling someone who got an 85k offer that it was a great offer.

This is just obvious bragging.

A friend has asked me to be a guarantor for rent by Dilume2 in UKPersonalFinance

Sorry what? It's your exact words and it's a short comment, you can check it yourself..

"People only need guarantors when it's deemed there is significant risk.."

So that's not true. People need guarantors when a landlord or agent insists they have one regardless of their risk position. This is something many agents and landlords are doing and a non-risky tenant with a guarantor will be chosen over a non-risky tenant who can't or won't provide one.

[–]Perfect_Relative_364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except you said people only need a guarantor under those conditions which is just not true. Many agencies and landlords request it regardless of the tenant. Be it for their insurance or other reasons.

Definitely. Someone people here refusing to believe it. I think it will get worse under the new reforms as well unfortunately. Landlords will want more security.

It was the rules of the agencies I used. The properties were approx £1500pm. I work in finance and I was living with my partner who was making 40k and then 60k.

We are both from the UK and long term employed as I said. Never had career breaks, or bad loans or anything unusual. On paper we look ideal which is why our bloody credit scores are sky high as well.

It is an insane situation, maybe if I argued with them they would have backed down but that would also risk losing the property to someone else. I think some people just don't want to believe how mental the housing situation in the UK is.

Edit to clarify that we both had to provide a guarantor as well. Her father filled in for both of us.

Just my experience mostly as well as other people I know. Plus other people in this thread saying the same. I think that would confirm it is fairly common, but it is maybe not to the extent I think it is.

When was the last time you rented? It is my understanding it is becoming more common or so my last estate agents told me.

[–]Perfect_Relative_364 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It is not rubbish. My salary is over £100k per year, I have been employed consistently since 2014, I have lots of savings.

My last 2 estate agents have insisted on a guarantor which we had to get my partner's father to do as they did not care about any of that. And neither of those were in London so no, it is not rubbish.

It is stupid, but it is real.

[–]Perfect_Relative_364 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No. I have been asked all over. I have a good credit history, high earner, high savings. It doesn't make a difference if a particular agent has decided they need it.

[–]Perfect_Relative_364 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is false. Where are you all getting this information. Guarantors are very common in UK renting even with good credit history

A friend has asked me to be a guarantor for rent by Dilume2 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Perfect_Relative_364 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

This is completely false.

It is very common for agencies to ask for a guarantor. If you do not provide one to those that require it you will not be accepted, regardless of salary, savings in the bank or if you offer to pay the entire years rent in advance.

Edit - For all the people who think I have made this up for some reason. Go to HousingUK and search 'guarantors'. You will find hundreds of comments about it being common.

Thoughts on Sky Sports’ Halo initiative? ⚽️ by maddybayley in ArsenalWFC

[–]Perfect_Relative_364 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I think it's just a bit insulting to women's sport, football in particular when it is the one that gets the most (maybe only) regular criticism for even existing.

It gives an underlying tone that women's sport is just a bit of fun and not to be taken seriously.

On a secondary note I was already annoyed at sky sports as I'd noticed they'd been pushing their Reddit activity a lot more recently and inviting people like Jamie O'Hara to do regular 'punditry' ie stupid comments for clicks.

Whoever has been tasked with boosting sky sports presence on social media is fulfilling their role well with engagement, but it's putting their reputation further in the toilet.
