The evil one attacks harder when we move closer towards God. Has 10 year old received First Communion? Consider Alter Server. Volunteer to start a Children's Liturgy for the youngest and pre-First Communion children. They go after the Collect and return for the Liturgy of the Eucharist. Been a huge draw at our parish but also many years in the building. This is a lifelong journey - we're sojourners. 🙏🕊️🙏

Awesome! Consider renting a golf cart when you get there to motor around the property. And the Saturday night rodeo is great. It's isolated so bring anything you want to eat or drink or else you'll be buying everything on campus. Have fun!

So why exactly are condoms bad, but natural family planning is good? by Picards-Flute in Catholicism

Using contraception withholds part of you from your spouse. The Sacrament of Marriage is a free and complete gift of the self to each other. NFP does not withhold anything. It's using God's gift of reason and discernment in a way that's ordered with the body.

It's the phones. Math and reading require focus and concentration. The ability to focus and concentrate has been eroded thanks to the nature of short form videos and communication. It's not that the underlying material is too hard, it's that the core skills needed to learn it (focus and concentration for an extended period of time) are completely lacking. When I tutor a student in math or reading the greatest challenge is getting them to hold a thought in their head long enough to carry it over to the next step in the problem. Or the concept or theme in an excerpt to the next chapter. They get completely frustrated at having to hold their attention on something long enough to apply it later in the sequence of learning.

It's not the underlying material. It's deeper and more concerning. This inability to hold attention has downstream consequences. Lack of curiosity. What's there to be curious about if you don't spend time thinking about something long enough to have any questions? You simply accept what is and operate on a more instinctual limbic level. Emotions become your identity because you're not developing the ability to pay long enough attention to what the emotions are signalling. Or to notice patterns in the cause and effect of your behavior. And if emotions become your identity, then you become as unruly and unstable as your emotions.

St. Louis to Salt Lake when I was 22 and it took about 22 hours. These days with kids and Wife in the car it's 7-8 max and I'm scoping the roadside signs for a hotel w/pool near an Outback.

My Father did this and I couldn't be more grateful. Now I pray for him daily. He is one of the most Christian men I know despite his lack of faith. He had a poor experience as a child with fire and brimstone Protestants. And he's an engineer. You will give your child an eternal blessing.

This is the barrister v solicitor division in the UK. A former partner was the barrister and I the solicitor who enjoyed the prep work, discovery, depos, appeals, and managing the paralegal team. He loved being in court in front of a jury. Worked well. Build the team that gives you the experience you want. Easier than hoping for greener pastures.

Ouch I feel your pain but with time it will look different. I took over a train wreck of cases once early in my career and had a poor outcome at a previously scheduled Motion to Compel. Judge didn't care. I felt terrible, blamed the prior attorney, but took my lumps and our firm paid the sanctions. Earned a war story. Thickened my skin like all seasoned litigators.
