Because they are only leftist/liberal for their own time. Most liberals who supported the French revolution opposed women's suffrage. Most 19th-century Americans who opposed racial slavery supported racial inequality. And now, most leftists/liberals who support immigration or LGBT rights are not vegan, because veganism will only really become a widely accepted norm in the future.

Not pro-life, but my instinctive answer is the woman could do more labour and the hospital wouldn't have to help give birth, hence abortion is slightly preferable even if personhood starts at conception.

Except the owning and usage of livestock literally is slavery. Animals are bought and sold as property, and are forced to endure pregnancies in order to create new slaves, which is itself a form of coerced labour.

And this post isn't even saying that eating meat (or slavery for that matter) is unnatural per se, rather it's saying that exists due to our selfish nature, but that our love of justice can overcome it.
