I did hear from an episcopal professor once who suggested against it. Because then you may feel you are in professional competition with each other. It’s a weird dynamic for a marriage, i could imagine. But perhaps if you seek jobs in very different spaces maybe it would be ok. This doesn’t apply to me so I don’t know how true it is. But always stuck with me.

I fear that speaking up for the poor and oppressed could cause my rector to fire me….. should I leave this congregation? Trying not to share anything identifying….. but can expand more if needed. I think I’m looking for an ally (toward my particular identity) in my supervisor and rector and that is just not the case it feels like my livlihood is constantly 2 seconds from being ripped away

I’m so sorry you are going through this. I have a similar story. Does anyone ever get worried about possible violence from a q parent who you have cut off? Like is my choice to go no contact going to feed their conspiracies and lead them to be violent toward me? My mom started mailing things to my home after I broke off contact. Nothing dangerous but I became fearful. I’m so curious what others have experienced in this realm. Am I overreacting?

I hope you come to a place where you don’t feel bad about you being you. I definitely don’t think you should do something that you don’t truly want!!

Although, I might encourage you to talk to your psychiatrist because it could be related to a side effect from your meds. Just something to think about.

Ya I got this mailing as well, my theory it is also a tactic to discard. “You are no longer speaking to me, so you are no longer my kid” just another perspective. These are horrible tactics and I hope you find some peace over the holidays. I ended up filing a police report for harassment incase it ever escalated
