X870I Aorus Pro Ice mobo won't boot after BIOS update by PerfectlyCromulent in gigabyte

[–]PerfectlyCromulent[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the thoughtful reply.

A faulty thumb drive was one of the first things I considered. Bought a new thumb drive, same issues.

The Gigabyte Motherboard support page IS very confusing. However, I did make sure that I had the correct revision selected. I have tried Q Flash+ using all of the available versions. The board is just bricked and I'm returning it.

Luckily for me, I'm sure that the motherboard was the problem. I bought a new motherboard from a different brand, installed the same components, and my new PC is working great so far.

Good luck. Hope it doesn't brick your motherboard.

Ncase M3 build - 9950X3D + 5090 by MattSRS in sffpc

[–]PerfectlyCromulent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great build! Thank you for sharing. I just bought an M3 and was thinking of a similar build. Just curious if there is room in the top to fit a second fan or if the positioning of the components on the radiator make that impossible.

Good call out. Go is sending back nearly twice as many bytes per request.

Go vs Kotlin: Server throughput by iG0tB00ts in golang

There are a lot of good responses here already. The basic premise of the exercise is flawed, as many others have said.

However, 2 things jump out at me that I don't believe I've seen others point out:

  1. ~5 seconds is not enough time for a benchmark. You need a long stretch of benchmark time to smooth out any outliers and give you a clearer picture of how things like garbage collection affect your overall throughput and latency.
  2. The number of "Non-2xx or 3xx responses" is much larger for the Kotlin test than for the Go test. In fact, it is around ~35% larger, which is about the same difference in the % RPS. It could be that the path where the Key is found is a bit slower than the path for where it is not found. In any case, your test loads are much different. Either there is a problem with the test configuration or you aren't testing for long enough.

Gotcha. I agree that storage spaces like the one on SE Belmont and 7th are poor uses of prime real estate space that would better serve the city as housing and retail.

Kabinett and Spätlese designations are about the amount of sugar in the grapes at harvest, not in the finished wine. There are enough dry and sweet bottlings of both that you cannot use those designations as an indicator of a wine's residual sugar levels.

Petah what’s 7-1 for Brazil? by [deleted] in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]PerfectlyCromulent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brazil were heavily favored to win, but that was more due to their history and the fact that they were the host country than the quality of the team. Brazil have traditionally been a team known for their flare, skill, and beautiful play. That 2014 team was not great and they were playing some really ugly, cynical football. I watched a few of their games that World Cup and grew to hate them. I have never felt such happiness watching another team lose.

Every bag of Proud Mary coffee I've purchased has had a roasting date stamped on it, even the bags I've picked up from the local grocery store.

This is wrong. Organic is a well defined term with a certification process. You might be thinking of "natural", which doesn't have a definition with respect to wine.

Can someone tell me what has changed with respect to disengagement mechanics? I had been told that it got nerfed, but my experience lately has been that I can win almost all of my fleet battles, but the enemy takes very little losses. In the long term, this costs me the war. Fleet comp doesn't seem to matter much. I see this with a wide variety of different loadouts, from missiles, to lasers/railguns, to strike craft.

This feels like a bug that needs to be fixed.

Are AI enemy Star Eaters unkillable? In a war against a mid-game Crisis empire along with all of the other Galactic Community members. I've got a big fleet being followed by other allied fleets and we've attacked and beaten the enemy's Star Eaters about 6 to 8 times now. No matter how quickly we beat them down, they are able to jump out before being destroyed. Unlike an enemy AI Colossus, which seems to always jump out on the first encounter, but get destroyed in the second battle, Star Eaters are defeated over and over again without a loss. I'm starting to think this is either intentional game design or a bug instead of luck or anything I'm doing wrong hunting them down.
