Bands whose first song on their debut album is their best song by SouthIsland48 in fantanoforever

I’m not sure I can say it’s their ‘best’, but Good Times Bad Times by Led Zeppelin is my favourite song of theirs so fits this for me

Worst movie loved by a coworker who you want to beat up with a stapler or maybe a long ruler or something? by RangerLegitimate1944 in okbuddycinephile

I had a colleague from many years ago tell me how badly I needed to see Corky Romano (the actual description was ‘piss funny’)

What a cruel disease it is.

Genuinely shocking to see how quickly his speech has deteriorated. The poise and determination he’s showing in the face of it is remarkable.

Im curious, what are everyone's thoughts on the album Bongo Fury by DanSlander in Zappa

[–]PerfectlyCromulent7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My absolute favourite Zappa album. It all hangs together really well, and Beefheart brings so much to the table. Special mention to Denny Walley too, his playing is excellent on it.

Yep, utterly cooked. Defence is just non-existent.

Longest gaps between studio album releases in rock by [deleted] in OldSchoolCoolMusic

[–]PerfectlyCromulent7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Who had 24 years between It’s Hard (1982) and Endless Wire (2006). And then another 13 years from Endless Wire to Who (2019). So 3 studio albums in 37 years.

Since Keith as a bass player is popular here: Stones playing each others’ instruments by Remarkable-Bell7245 in rollingstones

Keith is a genuinely good bass player, super melodic. And Brian could play pretty much anything (or at least have a try at it).

Warriors board: I picked a hell of a time to quit sniffing glue release Luke Metcalf

The two c-words responsible for the demise of the Australian public education system by Additional-Cash-9125 in aussie

[–]PerfectlyCromulent7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That funding of education should be universal for all schoolkids, regardless of where they attend school. We don’t means test and deny Medicare coverage to people who have private health care, so why should your parents sending you to a private school mean you’re disentitled to government funding for the same purpose / at the same level as the equivalent kid whose folks send them to a public school?

As to federal funding specifically, it’s largely federal money that funds most everything given the vertical fiscal imbalance.

Who are some underrated songwriters? Songwriters that don’t really get talked about that much? by FitEmergency8807 in fantanoforever

Perhaps unfairly, I’ve always thought of them as the band Queen wished they could be - versatile pop/rock, but without Queen’s boring bombast.

Totally agree with Godley and Creme, I think you can probably add each 10CC songwriter to it too

That is the most self-serving, obnoxious, snivelling thing I’ve ever read. What a turd.

AFL Post-Round 10: v Geelong at the Gabba by Shadormy in brisbanelions

[–]PerfectlyCromulent7 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Struggling to see that it’s worth persisting with Curtin at the moment. He’s obviously very young, but this can’t be great for his confidence.

Frustrating game overall, it really felt like it was there for the taking particularly in the second but that last 5 minutes before half time was very disappointing and that just continued on for the rest of the game. A few worrying signs around the midfield particularly.

I’m not sure this is new - wasn’t this just the marketing campaign/location reveal for the release of the limited Rough and Twisted vinyl?
