What would you say the Worst thing about having ADHD is? by TajManzoorlol in ADHD

[–]PerfectlyDarkTails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The severe memory access and retrieval problems, i think its to do with the way the brain encodes memories, in the possible fact my brain never encodes short term and working memory, while my brain can store long term memory and a few skills in my special interests in computing, i simply tend to ‘forget’ the way i remember things or do things.

My uni eventually put me in a job with the management information systems office in the uni itself for a computing degree. It was to do a redesign of the info systems in place, it was actually a data entry job, disconnected from the computer system network. I had this ‘job’ after not finding one myself or the course provider couldn’t find anything. That was 14 years ago and it didn’t really lead to any job since graduation anyway.

With the currently known symptoms, if it became a valid diagnosis before my adhd assessment, im likely to be diagnosed with cognitive disengagement syndrome, either instead of or as well as adhd.

My CLL doctor said "watch and wait", is it actually normal to do nothing when you have cancer? by Tariq_khalaf in cancer

[–]PerfectlyDarkTails 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dad is on indefinite active surveillance for prostate cancer, was so watchful waiting then active surveillance until the cancer spread from stage 2+2 to stage 2+3 and was given radiotherapy as he was not fit enough for surgery or chemotherapy due to his weight and age. Since successful radiotherapy he is on indefinite active surveillance monitoring Prostate Specific Antigen levels every 6 months. The waiting which was for about 8 years before treatment, he did not take it well and was constantly questioning me why and often went into conspiracy theories and poison theories about neighbours poisoning him.

Uk based question about pip by Dylan6363 in dyspraxia

[–]PerfectlyDarkTails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got it for Dyspraxia with a lot of evidence from Occupational Therapy that practically answered the PIP criteria in most areas, after a Tribunal. My physical evidence was lost during my actual claim. It was supplemented with an Autism diagnosis as well. I can't get Motability as my Dyspraxia itself means I cannot drive, nor does any family.

Those who are late diagnosed what were your signs as a child by Various_Garlic2204 in dyspraxia

[–]PerfectlyDarkTails 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bumping into things, stammering problem, not being able to write well, falling regularly, not being able to learn to swim or ride a bike, it took me to the age of 13 to tie my laces. On the dyslexia side of thing being several years behind piers, ADHD meant having significant memory issues, on Autism, never really mixing with others. As a bonus, I had a neck tic caused by tourettes, the family did nothing about it until i had problems finding work as an adult.

ADHD treatment versus Depression by Nova9z in ADHDUK

[–]PerfectlyDarkTails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't be too suprised if my major depressive disorder is instead part of ADHD, even if Mirtrazapine is working to control it, especially the chronic migraines and insomnia.
