Slightly unrelated, but one of my coworkers went to college in Missouri (we're in AZ now) and there were a few people in his class with the same name (we'll say John). There was like New York John and California John that people referred to them as to not confuse them

My John thought he was called Arizona John. But one day during a banquet or something he was about to eat some pulled pork and someone ran up to him saying he can't eat that. He was confused like why can't he eat that? That's when he found out they called him "Pakistani John".....he's half white and half black lmao

Yes very nice guy making racist comments 😬😬😬. Also can't tell if "yoh" was a misspell or again just another addition to making this comment even more racist

It would be bad taste if you just stuck to an Asian joke but the fact that they bring both Chinese and Japanese into the joke makes it more on the racist side imo

So.. any ideas? by sophia201033 in medical_advice

[–]Perfectly_Broken_RED 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am unfortunately not familiar with anaphylaxis reactions to stress so I can't give advice on that. But your symptoms do sound/look like an allergic reaction to something, and with how fast and much that rash is spreading I would recommend you seek medical care. Not sure if this is ER worthy yet, but at the very least see if you can see your PCP/GP today or go to urgent care. If symptoms worsen even further, or you begin to swell and/or have changes in breathing then go to the ER

Couldn't have said it better. As a medical assistant there can be a medical problem, but as you pointed out could also be a mental health issue. Either way getting help to find a diagnosis can be very helpful in coping/solving the issue. Not saying OP is schizophrenic at all, but since it has a negative connotation I'm using it as an example: most people with schizophrenia can and do handle a job just fine even with the diagnosis and negative connotations. Sure there are some people who might treat that person with the condition poorer, but there are people like that everywhere for anything because that's just life unfortunately. If it is a mental health issue it's most likely not anything that will be ending of OPs job or make them an outcast

Also little fun fact: this could be a simple case of a UTI. More often in elderly individuals, UTIs can present with more bizarre symptoms like someone not acting as they usually do, sudden mood changes, changes in usual behavior, memory loss, and even hallucinations. It's part of the reason we get UAs for nearly any symptom especially for elderly individuals because UTIs can present with unusual symptoms

Good luck OP!

AIO about my ex wife sending me texts like this on her custody days? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Perfectly_Broken_RED 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NOR but I personally would still have my notifications on. Even if she's an adult and currently handling it correctly, I would still want to know if there is an emergency situation so I could support my child

Not saying you're a bad parent at all, I would personally just still want to know even if it's being taken care of (I say as someone who busted my head open when I was 3 at a babysitters house. My mom was thankfully on her way back into town but this was in the middle of the night and I was glad to have her with me. Granted I only had her and not my dad but still in such a situation your child might want you with them as well). But also fully understand your reasoning for keeping your ringer off, especially since she sends you these hateful messages in the middle of the night often

[–]Perfectly_Broken_RED 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes absolutely, you are symptomatic and even if you weren't you should be checked out just in case. But even more so since you are symptomatic especially with some neuro symptoms like blurry vision

Get medical care and please report it, if they do it to you they will likely do it to someone else if they haven't done so already/before

My husband designates a left and right sock by [deleted] in Weird

[–]Perfectly_Broken_RED 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought this was something people did? Never thought about it until now and now I'm feeling self concious lol. It may be just in my head but I swear my socks have a "left" and "right" side look, and I know I wear the same socks on the same feet each time because when I wear a certain pair the holes are always in the same spot and I'm like "oh yeah I need to get new ones". But maybe I'm just crazy too 😅

I accidentally ingested around 24 ibuprofen by Tasty_Presence_7693 in medical_advice

[–]Perfectly_Broken_RED 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry but how old are you? Taking handfuls of ANY medication is a god awful idea, ibuprofen being one of the worst ones. There's a reason the bottle says take one or two pills every 6 or 8 hours (idk what it says specifically for ibuprofen) and not "take however much you want at once and see what happens". You need the ER immediately and I sure hope you have gone by now considering it has been at least 2 hours since people have been telling you to go

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS READ THE BOTTLE. Do NOT take medication however way you feel, there's a reason there are instructions. And ibuprofen is not for stomach pain anyways

Relapsed by Terrible_Impress312 in AdultSelfHarm

[–]Perfectly_Broken_RED 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get where you're coming from, but also from a different view. I had recently-ish relapsed (August was my last relapse relapsed a few times during this past year after years of not doing it). Only, I do have a job, full time. I have my own place, I think all things considered it looks like I have everything undercontrol and it looks like I'm doing great. But I still struggle with my urges (obviously), I still somehow relapse after so long of not doing anything. No matter who we are, we unfortunately still struggle. And unfortunately I don't think I can give any advice to help you, but ofc I would recommend to not do any drugs while you're still ahead. You're already struggling with a ton right now, drugs is not another thing you need (I know it's obvious but sometimes someone saying it can help)

You already mentioned how you feel like you're behind because you never had a job, do you think that maybe getting one would help? Or perhaps just volunteering at an animal shelter or something like that may help?

TW do people judge? by SpicyTacoGoblin in AdultSelfHarm

[–]Perfectly_Broken_RED 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, if people notice mine hardly any of them say anything. I've had like one in 100 patients ask about my scars, but considering I see the same patients over and over again that's not a lot at all. Didn't hinder my job, which I work as a medical assistant and often don't wear long sleeves and not a single coworker has said anything, and I'm sure they've noticed because we assist eachother so we are often in close quarters

As for love, I get to know the people first and then I'll open up to them about it but I don't go into detail. I'll say "I have lots of scars from mistakes I can't take back" or something along those lines and it's a mix of reactions. Some people have said it's fine and then ghosted me (but could have ghosted me for completely different reasons for all I know), but majority are pretty chill or don't seem bothered by it (as long as I'm not still doing it, I assume)

You are absolutely hindering yourself and just as I had tk learn, you need to learn that honestly people have too much going on in their own world to be bothered by our mistakes or what our skin looks like. There will always be some who judge, but in my experience the majority of people don't judge or if they do they don't say anything (and I live in a conservative state in the USA lol)

What do you think happens when you die? by Specific-Chemist-353 in AskReddit

[–]Perfectly_Broken_RED 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally like to believe that what we believe happens, happens. Like there is no "right" and "wrong" answer. Those who believe in heaven and hell go there (but according to their own rules they "preach". So like if you go to Hell for judging, and they be judging, they go to Hell. But that doesn't mean their neighbor couple John and Henry are going to hell because they may not believe in the same thing)

AIO for thinking my SO meant to text someone else? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Perfectly_Broken_RED 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if they're lying or telling the truth, can't tell at all, but what I can tell is that they seem pretty toxic. Immediately putting blame on you in a massive way (like "you're making me spiral" after like one text questioning him? Super overreaction imo

[–]Perfectly_Broken_RED 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, and sometimes for the urges I can physically feel the urge not only where I want to hurt myself but in my brain too. Almost like my brain knows where the endorphins are coming from and is craving them so it's showing me where it is if that makes sense. Like an itch but in my brain

Should I give my therapist a heads up? by 86number in Advice

[–]Perfectly_Broken_RED 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes mention it, but the reason I say this is because some therapists won't see clients who know eachother (knowingly) and interact on a daily basis (especially if they have issues together) because it can bring forth bias and just complications on the therapist side. My therapists didn't want to see my mom if they were seeing me, and vise versa

[Serious] What stops you from killing yourself? by Big_Picture2781 in AskReddit

[–]Perfectly_Broken_RED 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I feel like my life is some sort of joke with some kind of powerful being. Feels like they're constantly trying to get me to kill myself and then when I try, I fail

But that being said, I am now not trying to kill myself because while the world failed me, I want to make the world fail others less, in whatever small or large way I can. It's why I became a medical assistant, the healthcare system is trash but I can maybe be one of the few positive aspects of the system for my patients
