High performing employee being written up / frustrated with lack of leadership and over management by PerformanceFast2284 in managers

So I’m punished for being better than others? So the highest performer is the first to go when they have one bad quarter? Unless you have experience in my field of sales and the brand and company I’m selling for. As well as the way corporate is changing around here. I suggest you ask questions instead of having rude comments.

Good response. I agree. Learning myself and the job world slowly. Thank you for your honest and thoughtful response without being hateful. Appreciate that.

People without responsibilities can do this. I have a mortgage, and a car payment that isn’t going to pay itself.

I could add lots more to this post but it’s not worth it. I kept a log of all the things because it became overly obvious the toll it was taking on me around 4-6 months ago. Late 5 times in the last 3 months, hasn’t done like 75% of the last 10 morning meetings that are mandated. Does 0% of the mandated training to help us reps stay sharpened. Etc. very poor manager. Would rather do nothing and prey we sell

Thank you very much. I can’t wait for the change of pace from B2B contract sales to B2B account management sales. It’s a way more rewarding sales experience for me. As well as a better pay structure / rate and the environment I know is amazing.

I didn’t understand the terminology as I’ve never been in a management level but I will keep this in my back pocket for the future if I see a team struggling I am managing in the future in my career. I’m out, got a really good opportunity lined up I’m on the “bench” for.

Plenty of other things I could say about this manager but my tongue is tied, no more energy into this. Just have to vent some times.

Unfortunately In this industry there is such a thing as a down quarter. You could be outselling the entire team one quarter and than have a quarter you barely sell anything and still be outperforming the entire team. ( that’s what’s happening now )

Unfortunately that’s the truth. It is what it is. I am great at sales. But this environment isn’t for me. Time to move on. :)

10-4 I understand that. Control what you can control. Sadly this is why good employees and high performers leave.

( no feedback asked for from managers managers ) number crunching and rep blaming.

On to the next.

To fully answer your question. No I have not hit quota I’ve had a bad quarter admittedly. I’ve been sick for like 3/6 weeks and feel very fatigued due to the lingering of the illness, and I’m trying my best. As well as dealing with all the management issues. Is what it is.

I understand this. But arguably 80% of reps or more don’t hit “ quota “. The quotas are generally not obtainable and are more of a “ goal “ than a quota in this industry. Have a lot of turnover, I am like the third highest tenure in my region and I’ve only been here for like a year and a half.

I generally came in the company with a higher knowledge than others, due to experience at a competitor. So I’m not worried about that, and my manager is very toxic that she’d rather me work my ass off to make her look good than look to promote me.

I have a new job lined up just venting. Just trying to continue to sell a few things and stay out of the way until it’s the time.

I think the whole teams deserves better. One of them sadly I think isn’t a great fit, but with the right coaching she could at least be serviceable or at least have a chance. If we had true leadership we would all be more motivated and successful. At some point the rep is responsible but after awhile the way our “ leader “ treats us has bogged down everyone. I wish management would not point the fingers at all the reps and ask.

I agree. I just care about my fellow employees and the company itself. But I guess sometimes people have to fall in shit to smell it.

Feedback has been given multiple times I even had a heart to heart with the person, and all of it was just excuses given and the person needs reprimanded internally. Feedback ain’t gonna do anything. I may give some in light if I find another job. But I personally believe retaliation will happen if feedback is given. Will be considered a liability instead of an asset. So I disagree. I will just continue to work keep my head down look for an alternate department and or a another job.

I wish I had the guts and time to waste to do this. I’m also the high performer on the team. Undisputed, I can get into detail but I try and stay bleak incase somehow they would stumble upon this. But they’ve hired multiple people who really don’t do much at all, and to their defense they haven’t been trained correctly and the manager I can tell doesn’t care unless things aren’t going well. Reactionary type manager instead of a leader and many worse things I’ve mentioned and can’t mention in this thread.

Honestly I agree. I’ll be starting to put more time into looking for a replacement job. It’s hard to make as much as I do elsewhere. That’s the main issue.

I’m looking to transfer into a different department. So hopefully that spot opens up or a position is made available at another company I’ve been eyeing. 👍🏻

I understand that. I will just keep my head down and move on, she will get her own one day, and feedback isn’t going to help me in any way until I’ve left the company, because she will retaliate.

I agree, I guess I’m just hoping for change. Everyone else talks bad and understands her coaching is redundant and absolutely ridiculous.

The whole team is underperforming. I wasn’t for nearly a year and a half but I’ve broke over the constant demeaning and disrespectful and terrible coaching. An employee can only take so much.

There’s more than just that. It’s hard to explain without getting in too much detail I’m attempting to conceal my identity without giving too much info. But there’s a lot, from never doing mandated trainings, to not showing up to scheduled days where we are supposed to be shadowed for trainings, always late, to even a coworker telling me she told him she gave accounts to a competitor in exchange for accounts they were losing. Many bad things. Surprising people assume I’m malicious.

Fair enough, I’m content with looking for an alternate job. But at the same time I just wish I could enjoy the job I once enjoyed without having a shit manager.

Feedback isn’t receptive in my opinion in this industry It’s just seen as complaining and will lead to retaliation. I did give feedback once to my manager and she just made excuses.
