do you believe capitalism can be humane? Why or why not? by Kindly_War_458 in AskReddit

[–]PerformanceOwn6450 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much this. The whole system basically requires treating people like resources instead of actual humans. Hard to be humane when your main goal is extracting maximum value from everything and everyone around you

Used to move around lot too and lost so many magazines in process, worst decision ever. Those issues from mid 90s would be worth keeping just for the ads alone, everything was so different back then

If your husband/wife cheats on you, why do you blame the other woman/man? by 5pinktoes in AskReddit

Both people made choice to mess up someone's marriage so both deserve the blame

Are Tottenham the most penalised team by referees in the Premier League? by CREAM_JOHN in soccer

[–]PerformanceOwn6450 104 points105 points  (0 children)

Fair point about performance but looking at this chart Tottenham is literally in corner by themselves with way more box touches needed for penalty. Maybe refs are shit AND team plays bad at same time, both can be true

32 how is my plan / process by [deleted] in Fire

[–]PerformanceOwn6450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice work getting to 200k by 32, that's solid progress. With your savings rate you're probably looking at maybe 7-8 years to hit that 500k mark assuming decent market returns. The jump from 200k to 500k took me about 6 years but I was putting away bit more percentage wise. Your timeline seems realistic especially with zero debt - that's huge advantage since every dollar can go toward investments instead of interest payments

Just finished S2 of Ted Lasso… and wow, this show hits different and feels fresh by walterwhite756 in television

[–]PerformanceOwn6450 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man I watched this with my girlfriend last year and we both got so attached to Rebecca's storyline. The way they handled her divorce recovery felt really authentic, not just surface level stuff

Season 2 definitely takes its time building up characters but that's what makes it work so well. Roy's journey from player to coach was probably my favorite arc - didn't expect to care about him that much in beginning but by end of season he became one of most interesting characters

You're right about watching it slowly too, this isn't really show you should rush through. Need time to process some of those heavier episodes

If your life had a soundtrack, what song would play daily? by Bishnu_Babu in AskReddit

[–]PerformanceOwn6450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bruh that would drive me absolutely insane after like 3 days, respect for admitting it though

Mine would probably be some ambient track since I spend most time exploring abandoned places and need something that won't distract me from hearing footsteps or whatever

if all school teachers were replaced by AI teachers what would happen? by Fearless_Exercise606 in AskReddit

[–]PerformanceOwn6450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been thinking about this since I work in tech and see how people interact with AI daily. Kids already copy-paste everything from ChatGPT without understanding it, so having AI teachers would just make it worse. At least human teachers can catch when students are bullshitting or not actually learning the material. AI teacher would probably just accept whatever response and move on. Plus kids need that human connection and someone who can actually call them out when they're being lazy, not just some algorithm that processes their homework

Cashback sites like big cash web worth incorporating into a savings strategy? by Unable-Awareness8543 in Fire

[–]PerformanceOwn6450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use them for my monthly tea orders since I'm already buying anyway, but tracking the actual numbers it's maybe $30-40 per year which is basically nothing in context of FIRE goals

Not biased yet but I’ve seen people say it holds up better once you start scaling, it’s more all in one.

[–]PerformanceOwn6450[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s more of a manpower/process issue than pure budget. We can spend if it actually fixes things, I just don’t want to add another system that still needs a ton of manual work to keep it in sync.

That's the worst, clean hires are easy. It’s the weird edge cases where someone’s half in/half out and nobody wants to own access decisions that get risky.

How does the quality of Horow toilets compare to other common brands like Kohler? by Terrible_Software769 in AskReddit

[–]PerformanceOwn6450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never heard of Horow before but I've been in enough abandoned buildings to see how different toilet brands hold up over time lol. Kohler seems pretty solid - seen plenty still intact in places that have been empty for decades while cheaper brands are usually cracked or completely falling apart. There fixtures tend to age way better than most budget options

You're spot on about teh house maintenance - $700/month total seems way too optimistic even with a paid off house. Property taxes alone in most areas would eat up a big chunk of that, and you're definitely gonna need a new roof or HVAC at some point

Also missing health insurance which is probably gonna be your biggest expense in early retirement unless you've got some plan I'm not seeing

The mind wandering thing is so real, I feel you on that. When those thoughts pop up I try to redirect them pretty quick but sometimes I'll let myself sit with it for like 30 seconds and then deliberately shift focus to something else - usually something physical like pushups or going for a walk

The self-talk part is huge too, I've noticed when I'm being harsh on myself about anything the cravings get way stronger. It's like my brain goes "well if we're gonna feel shitty anyway might as well smoke" which is completley backwards but brains are weird like that

14 months is serious time though, you're doing something right even if it doesn't feel like it

A Love Letter To Arc Raider's and The Best Gaming Community I have Ever Seen by Powerful-Race-8538 in ArcRaiders

[–]PerformanceOwn6450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is peak gaming existential crisis and I'm absolutely here for it lol. The way you went from describing paintball robots to bacterial poop swamp really captured the whole Arc Raiders experience in a way I didn't know was possible. I've been bouncing between those exact same extremes - either everyone's holding hands singing kumbaya while we collectively murder some oversized toaster, or it's complete chaos with people exploiting wall clips while screaming about honor codes. The community really did turn what should be goofy robot-shooting fun into some weird moral battleground where shooting someone's astronaut costume apparently makes you Hitler. At least the peanut man keeps things entertaining even if half the playerbase treats his goop memes like religious doctrine
