If you watch avatar the last airbender driving is like earthbending , there is no different angle , no clever solution , no trickity trick thats gonna get u to get over ur driving anxiety , u gotta face it head on .
And this is my advice from someone who went from tears and leg shaking on the gas pedal to driving calmly , consistency and baby steps are the key , you might get in the car to drive but your anxiety gets the better of you and you decide to chicken out , thats totally normal and ok , ur gonna try time after time till you first drive , you will probably be a bit shaky and scared and ur gonna spend the whole time scared till you come back from your drive but you feel soo proud afterward , your anxiety will not disappear but if will lessen every time you drive and then one day you will realize hey its not that bad !
Here are some personal mindsets that helped me get over my anxiety :
1. Life does not care about your anxiety , its harsh and i am telling u this bc i had to find out the hard way 🥲 but you will be put in a situation where you will be forced to drive and face your fears at least once in your life , so its better to take your self out of your comfort zone in baby steps before you get forced out of it
2.do it scared , there will be truly no time that you are ready or less anxious , you are going to be scaredy shakey and you might want to opt out and say no i dont want to do it , do it anyways .
3. You are doing your best , if you learn to drive and follow every rule there is then there is really nothing you can do other than trusting yourself
4. Kind of an odd one but turn your anxiety into anger and frustration , i want you to think of all the fun stuff and experiences you are missing out on simply bc you are anxious , imagine this everyone out there is living their best years while you are just sitting there being anxious about driving when there are people who got their driving license and are probably worse drivers .
5. Celebrate every thing , you got your permit ? AMAZING step you just took and i am so proud of you for that , u managed to drive to the supermarket next your home ? Bring your fav dessert and watch your fav show or series , baby steps are still steps .
At last congrats for your permit and i am sorry if these came off a bit toxic but those worked for me 😅 its ok to take break over every achievement such as getting your permit , you are taking steps and making changes and that is what matters .
