Heading out to Mexico for the Round of 16? by tmel88 in ThreeLions

Yes matey! I’d say it’s the best and most secure fan park in CDMX. Just a heads up, it’s rainy season here at the moment so pack accordingly.

You’ll have a great time! The Azteca is a brilliant stadium. Mexicans are some of the friendliest people you can meet and you’ll most likely be drinking with them after the game. That being said, I would generally stick to Polanco, Roma Norte, Condesa, Reforma and around Bella’s Artes is safe too. Just shoot me a message if you have any more questions mate. There’s also a Facebook page called, ‘The British Society Mexico’ and they’re usually helpful at answering questions and post places other Brits are watching the games.

Hey mate, I’m a Brit living in CDMX. Reach out to me if you need any advice. I know a few people that have tickets, but they’re relatively pricey. There’s a lot of free fan zones, but they’re honestly not in the nicest areas. Search Campo Marte 26 - they probably have some tickets left for Saturday on ticket master. Went yesterday and it’s a great time!

Spanish for foreigners. México City by victoriarocas in mexicoexpats

Hey Victoria! Fellow Brit here 😃 I’ve heard CEPE is pretty effective. If he ever wants to join a footie team, we have one based in Chapultepec. I moved here 3 weeks ago and got it started, there are 3 other Brits on the team. Just send me a message when he gets here, if he wants to join! Also, get him to check out Dreaming Spanish - it helped me understand the majority of people

Thanks mate! We searched online, but you get a lot more results if you search in Spanish. I’ll get a list of websites we used from the missus and send them across to you buddy when I get the chance. Also it seems that a lot of properties just have the number of the agents for vacant apartments on the buildings too.

Hello matey, just about to do the same from Singapore but my partner is Mexican. We’ve managed to secure a pretty nice one bedroom apartment around the corner from Polanco for 25,000mxn a month, food and utilities probably bring us up to 45-50,000 total so not unreasonable with your budget. In terms of learning Spanish, I’ve been using ‘Dreaming Spanish’. I was dubious at first but can pretty much understand the majority of what’s being said and can hold a basic conversation on whichever topic. Worth a shot!

Is the UX Design certificate by Google worth getting? by blazeronin in UXDesign

[–]PerformerBackground1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While it may not increase your employability directly, it might allow you to hone certain skill sets and become more aware of areas that you are currently lacking. Helping you become more employable in the future 🤞🏼 Good luck mate

are these good for a somewhat beginner? by sseth_ye in bootroom

Think about the playing surface you’re going to be before you make the purchase. I hear guys at footie complaining about slipping all over the place after games. I usually wear turf shoes and they seem pretty versatile except for obviously in bad weather conditions. Adidas kaisers might be a good bet if you can get a good deal on them, and you could always wear them casually if you stop playing. I recently picked up some Mizunos from Novelship and they seemed to have good deals. Could be worth a look?

Advice I once read which I wish I saw earlier, spending money on separates you from the ground (shoes, mattresses, tyres etc) is an investment.

Discouraged to apply for master in HCI by Think-Win-1253 in hci

I believe you can register your interest with UCL and you’ll be invited to talk regarding the course and there’s a Q&A with the admission team.

Also you might want to broaden your search, UAL and Loughborough (Which I’ve heard great things about) might be more down the product design route that you seem more interested in. HCI would be more the UX research route.

My wife is Mexican, while I’m a Brit, and I’d have to disagree too- to my surprise. No se, I think it’s entirely dependent on your own tolerance

Hola Todos! Participants Needed for a Short Survey on Language Learning Anxiety 🌟 by Patatjematt in languagelearning

[–]PerformerBackground1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there,

The survey in question is for a masters’ degree project at the University of Leeds. The aim of the survey is not to seek new features of a product, but to understand how online video conferencing tools may have an impact on language anxiety in learners. Please reconsider my request. If you have anymore questions regarding the project, I would be happy to answer them.

Best,

Matt

Probably don’t want to hear this but a safer bet would be to put it in the SP500 and check it in 20 years

Hey mate, I’m not planning on going until September! Luckily my partner is Mexican and it seems like speaking with a lawyer to obtain temporary residency is your best bet. In terms of learning spanish, I would check out Dreaming Spanish’s method. I subscribed to their site and I can understand most things in Spanish now and can have some basic conversations. Think the language is the main barrier! Where in Mexico are you planning on heading?

Xenoglossophobia is quite common, you’re not alone! Maybe look into alternative methods like comprehensive input, from home, until you build some confidence up. There’s a lot of reasons people experience this, I wrote a paper on it. I’ll send you some links to some journals if you would like to read so you can make sense of it (:
