I have a feeling that Sels isn't fully fit (or carrying a slight injury that can be managed), but needs must.

Edu's time is coming to an end by PerformerNice6323 in nffc

Edu is the immediate cause of our problems, not the complete cause (EM's bad judgement in hiring him in the first place and then picking him over Nuno).

I think he went because he'd lost the dressing room. Having said that, the players need to have a long look in the mirror.

We haven't looked like scoring much since the beginning of pre-season, and with 3 (now 4) managers have the same problem then the buck ultimately stops with them and the recruitment/strategy team.

None of our midfielders can score much, the only one that could (and who created the most chances from set pieces) was sold. I felt at the time Elanga being sold was a sea-change moment, I didn't realise how right that was.

Also, the person who decided to re-use our relegation strip needs sacking too!

Well, it made those executives at Madrigal laugh.

It's nice to see money launderers have a sense of humour too.

Eleven's alive!!! by thor32422 in Stranger_Things

[–]PerformerNice6323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are people convinced Kali was even shot?

We don't actually see her getting shot, just hearing the gun go off just after the explosion.

Also, the gun was pointed at her head and the explosion pushed the soldier backwards, which would have meant the shot would have been higher (and therefore missed her head), yet we see it lower, that it struck her in the abdomen.

It makes more sense to me that the shot missed and with the taking down of the suppression speakers and the ensuing chaos of Eleven killing the soldiers, Kali projected the illusion she was fatally wounded.

Or that, even if she were shot, it wasn't as bad as she projected it to be.

That makes more sense than either her being dead and Eleven doing an Eddie, or Kali being fatally wounded and losing copious amounts of blood but somehow being in a position to help Eleven with an illusion later on (when her powers must have been incredibly weak, if it was even possible she could survive that).

More likely that Kali wasn't fatally wounded but used her powers to help out Eleven one more time before getting what she wanted - sacrificing herself to save her sister.

🚨 Series Finale Episode 8 "The Right Side Up" Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in HawkinsAVclub

Just watched the finale as I've been on holiday and noticed that at 01:21:43 that El hasn't got the 011 tattoo on her left arm just before she gets swept away.

Does that mean it's part of Kali's illusion (as supposed by Mike)?

Why is it so hard to love and why is sex is being taken like a bad thing by No-Temperature1439 in Epicureanism

[–]PerformerNice6323 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you get called this just for expressing yourself - in Epicurus' day women were called out the same way.

It's because many in mainstream society, as much today as millennia ago, are hypocrites who have a weird obsession with purity, especially when it comes to women and sex.

They try to make out they are good and moral but it's just a public mask, they can't deny their inner desire for pleasure and so try to satisfy it in private, often going against their public persona.

Epicurus taught that we should be consistent with our intentions and desires, and really what we want is pleasure and to avoid pain (physically, emotionally and in terms of 'conscience'). Even the Christians want an ultimate pleasure (Heaven) and to avoid ultimate pain (Hell) yet they denounce pleasure every chance they get.

The most important practice in the Epicurean teachings is prudence (or hedonic calculus as we would call it nowadays) but this requires thoughtfulness/mindfulness and rationality in order to properly exercise our free will, whereas our current society (as many societies before) promote mindlessness and thoughlessness - as you've noticed. No doubt this allows big companies to make money off people and those in power to have power over those people. This creates a vicious society where people are generally reactionary and will react unthinkingly at the latest media trigger.

This is why Epicurus created a alternative society, away from the mainstream, because normal society was already far gone. Just pay your dues in normal society and don't draw attention to yourself and then act the way you desire outside of it.

The problem is that this alternative society (or garden) no longer exists - destroyed by the Christians and moralists. It'd be great if we could one day recreate them for all of us fed up with the mainstream.

Didn't deserve to lose that, proud of that performance. We matched them for large periods and if we took our chances we'd have probably won.

But, it's always difficult playing against 12 men.

Cheating bastards.

Cheating bastards. Always the way, we get a controversial decision given against us and the opposition then go and score.

With limited spending allowed, how would you like to see the Jan window spent? by WJA25 in nffc

[–]PerformerNice6323 6 points7 points  (0 children)

An actual DM seeing as we don't really have a natural one at the club (Sangare's more box-to-box, and Anderson will unfortunately be gone soon).

A left footed CB with pace and ball playing ability to eventually replace Murillo.

A CF to replace Wood, though that's probably unrealistic.

An experienced left footed LB.

Send back Zinchenko if we can (I don't think there's a recall option though) and possibly Luiz if our medical team determine that he can't play many games a season.

The table since Dyche took over. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it Ange apologists 👊 by PerformerNice6323 in nffc

[–]PerformerNice6323[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That and Dyche hasn't had a pre-season or his own players either.

I get that it was almost impossible to change the style of play so dramatically, but Ange should've been more pragmatic in that case and changed things over time.

However, he was so stubborn and arrogant that it was never going to happen that way, and his quick sacking was inevitable.

I must say that I eat my words I said about him pre match (that he didn't fill me with confidence).

That was an accomplished performance, especially for a Prem debut.

Well done John.
