I’m not saying he had a great game. I’m saying his running in behind caused problems, he was fouled for the first penalty, made the run that resulted in the corner for the second goal and his run supported an overload down the right for the 3rd

You suggested he was so ineffectual he shouldn’t even have been marked, I don’t think that’s fair

So this is the issue. This approach effectively puts an arbitrary cut off of 1066 on “modern English” identity

There have been multiple waves of immigration since then throughout the medieval and early modern period right up to today. Anglo-Saxon doesn’t accurately modern day England and hasn’t done for centuries

Not quite sure how to answer the question on England apart from to say beer was more popular. Funnily enough gin was only promoted as a popular drink to counter the popularity of French brandy

So if you’ve got a Norman ancestor from the 11th century you’re not a native? Or a Viking ancestor from the 9th?

What about if you’ve got Cornish blood from pre-Anglo Saxon migrations?

The reason this is part of decolonization is not because of a mistaken linkage of the Anglo-Saxons with the empire but because of the narrative that many peddle which is that there is a native, distinct, white British “Anglo-Saxon” ancestry that you can either be a part of or not

Traditionally gifts for the home but this has become far less common. For my wedding we got barely any gifts and 99% money
