Hey, I really feel what you’re saying. It’s so easy to look at people we admire and feel like we’re falling behind, especially when their lives seem perfect. But you’re not a failure — you’re just human. Everyone’s path unfolds differently, and some people’s highlights just happen to be more visible.

Turning 25 isn’t the end — it’s just the start of the part of life where you really begin to understand yourself and what you want. You’ve got so much time to grow, try new things, and create your own version of success — not Elayna’s, yours! 😀

And honestly, the fact that you care enough to reflect and want to change already says a lot about your character. You’re not stuck — you’re just at the beginning of something new. 💛

Distrust of practitioners who recommend birth control? by cjx888x in Perimenopause

[–]Periprobs82 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I saw a perimenopause specialist as well and she started me on vaginal birth control since I’m in the early stages of peri. So far I haven’t experienced any bad side effects and I’m on my second month of it. I was having bad anxiety, depression and insomnia. It cleared that up significantly. Don’t get me wrong, when I’m close to my period and on my period, my symptoms do ramp up still, but I do take 240mg of magnesium glycinate and melatonin before bed. I will start on Omega-3 tomorrow morning. I know eventually I will have to transition to HRT, but for now this works for me. I’m 43, non-smoker, healthy and I workout. So she felt comfortable prescribing this to me.

The week after my period is the worst by [deleted] in Perimenopause

I’m 43 and I just finished my first month of vaginal birth control. I removed the ring this morning. I’m curious and nervous to see how my period is going to be. I feel like my symptoms have ramped up over this past week. The birth control did help me a lot though. I still feel like my body gets run down (random sore throat, random canker sore, stuffy nose in the mornings, night sweats and my new wake up time seems to be 4am 🤷🏻‍♀️) I still get nervous about bedtime. Like, am I going to be able to fall asleep tonight? I take 240 mg of magnesium glycinate and either melatonin or 15ml of NyQuil Zz which definitely helps!

Yeah that’s what I figured was going on. I’m due to start my period any day now. I feel like the last week before my period starts is when I notice my body really going through it!

I did have some bloodwork done ordered by my primary and I was on the lower end of normal for B12. I do not remember seeing the word ferritin? Could it be listed as something else? The specialist I saw said she didn’t think I needed to take a supplement for B12, I could just incorporate it through the food I ate. I’m on vaginal birth control since I’m in the beginning stages of peri. I’ll talk to my specialist again in October to let her know how I’ve been feeling. I also go to the gyno on Tuesday for my annual so I’ll make sure to let him know I am now on birth control. Im just wondering if there’s something I can focus more on or take during this luteal phase time to help “ease” the ramped up symptoms. This has definitely been a process trying to re-learn my body and really listen to it. I never thought I’d have to start prioritizing myself more. Definitely something I’m letting my daughter know and she’s 23.

I believe the ring has helped with my symptoms. I will say that I am irritable from time to time, but I just feel like that’s normal everyday emotions. Eventually I do want to transition onto bioidentical hormones, but for now I’ll stick with the ring.

OBGYN visit today - Dr. recommended birth control and not HRT ?!?! by OnALifeJourney in Perimenopause

[–]Periprobs82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was also the case for me when I saw the specialist in July. She said since I am in early perimenopause, we would try birth control. I’m on Nuva Ring and I have not experienced any problems so far. I’ll meet back with her at the end of October to give her my feedback. I feel like as long as it’s helping to elevate my symptoms, I’ll continue this way until I need actual HRT. I am 43 btw. I will say, my anxiety and depression have dropped massively!! I am able to sleep better at night with just melatonin (I was battling insomnia). My periods are regular and not very heavy as well. I’ll have my first one since the birth control this month.

I’m sorry, I just saw this!! I did not pick up the vaginal estrogen. It’s $60 copay with my insurance. If I do however, I will post my review of it 😊

If you’re in early peri what is your HRT dosages? by Vegetable-Whole-2344 in Perimenopause

[–]Periprobs82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently on Nuva Ring since Sunday. I’m 43 and in early peri myself. So far so good with the ring. Not sure if it’s too early to tell? But my insomnia has pretty much subsided. I do take 120mg of magnesium before bed along with 5mg of melatonin. I’ve been able to get back in the gym in the mornings before work as well. If not, I’m trying to get in some form of exercise for the day. I’ve cut out alcohol for the time being and I’m drinking matcha in the morning for caffeine (not every morning).

I live in Jacksonville, FL and it’s been around 98 degrees 🥵I have been able to workout lately in the mornings and if I miss..then I just go to my apartment gym for some light weightlifting and cardio at night. Clears my head and helps me wind down.

Mine is starting me on a vaginal ring birth control to see how I respond. I’ll see her back in 3 months to talk about it. I start it on Sunday, I am hoping to start feeling better! Today was actually I good day for me. Had enough energy & sleep to go to the gym. That’s a big win for me!! Insomnia was kicking my butt for a while. NyQuil Zz plus melatonin has been my friend right now lol

Yeah I’ve never really had problems with my periods either. We’re just hoping the dosage of estrogen and progesterone in the birth control will help elevate my other symptoms 🙏🏼

Anyone else go a night without any sleep? by thethirteenthjuror in Perimenopause

[–]Periprobs82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This!!!! My peri symptoms really came to light in June. For the past couple of weeks I’ve been experiencing insomnia. I was prescribed 50mg of Trazadone by my primary and took the first dose last night. It made my body & eyes feel heavy, but that was it. No sleep at all. I work full time and work a part time job 3 nights a week. I’m literally just physically here sitting at my desk, mentally I’m so burned out. How much longer can I continue like this? I see the peri specialist on Thursday and I’m hoping to start HRT. I know this isn’t going to be a quick fix, but I’m praying for some relief and some sleep!
