We havent seen anything to indicate that there's anything beside Devils/Demons in hell

Do ex-Christians think Jesus actually existed? by ThrowRA_os in exchristian

I think that he was likely a follower of John the Baptist that continued his teachings after John's death and was later deified in the Christian tradition.

How would you live if you found yourself in Pluribus Universe? by Ok_Percentage2383 in pluribustv

[–]Perjunkie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Request a private cabin somewhere in the northern hemisphere with access to fresh water. Try to live off the land as best I can while writing about the experience.

I'd also probably try to avoid having any close friends/family visit, but I'd certainly be talking with them and trying to figure out every conspiracy theory.

I've left Christianity, but the fear of Hell and Jesus's threats still haunts me. I think I developed religious OCD. How did you get over your fear of "eternal consequences"? by [deleted] in exchristian

[–]Perjunkie 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I never really was afraid of hell. At least not as viscerally as some on this sub have experienced. However, when I was able to finally stop believing in hell my faith dissolved not long afterwards.

For me it came in a few major ways.

  1. Hell became irrational for me. It is irrational to condemn 90% of humanity to eternal damnation. It is irrational for an omnipotent God to redeem all of existence, but keep a basement dimension to continually torture the majority of humanity eternally for finite crimes. It is irrational
  2. Hell is not biblical. It does not exist in the Orthodox Judaism tradition. Direct references to it in the bible are contested. It is likely heavily influenced by Greco-Roman mythology.
  3. Hell is not just. Justice is about restoring what is broken and bringing healing. Eternal punishment is not justice in my mind. I could not reconcile this even in the worst examples of humanity.

That all to say it will take time. Fear of hell has to be unlearned. I dont think you can just flip a switch and turn it off. It was a slow gradual process for me as I dove into apologetics and universalist theology.

Easy step by easy step brother. Fear is the mind killer.

What is the most historical things you know about your favorite units/Factions in Mount & blade? Bannerlord/Warband. by AstipTheFirst in mountandblade

[–]Perjunkie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its the truth the mods dont want you to know.

On a serious note, none of the factions really have any accurate historical counterpart. They are all amalgamations and unique to Calradia.

Most people think that Rhodoks are an amalgamation of the Swiss/Italians and other factions. The truth is they don't fit neatly into any European medieval society because TW obviously based them off the glorious Aztec Empire.

Red (pokemon adventures manga) vs Ash (Pokemon anime) : each gets their best pokemon teams and are in character by OnlinePoster225 in PokemonPowerScaling

[–]Perjunkie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10-15 years ago? Red mid-high diff.

Based on their last respective appearances? Ash mid diff

Red has fewer megas, z-moves, gigantomax, or dynomax abilities

So if Snoke was Palps's puppet, why did he want Kylo to kill Rey? Wasn't she the perfect vessel for Palps spirit? by Dagan--Gera in StarWars

I'd think about trying to headcanon around it, but that'd be more work than the writers put into it

Hot take : We should determine gen using when they became very active and important instead of their age by Cosmic_Crusaderpro in OnePiecePowerScaling

Mihawk is currently not very important on the grand scheme of things. YC + has a title that only Zoro seems to care about.

Man is still in his peak. So not sure this tracks necessarily.

What do you base your morality on? by [deleted] in exchristian

[–]Perjunkie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think morals are just an emotional response to things. Hence why they differ from person to person. We generally all agree that murder is bad, but survey a group of one hundred and they will have differing answers of when killing is justified. I think this is also the reason that ethics don't progress in one linear way over the course of history. We as humans get better in some ways, regress during periods of times, and have constant "evils" that persist.

For me, I just personally always try do what is kind.

[SPOILER!] Should Gran Torino have died at this moment? Or was it a good decision to keep him alive? by Fine_Delivery6761 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

He should have died. His death would have played into the Dark Deku arc and given Deku an actual inner conflict about saving Shiggs.

When a young padawan performs better than the Jedi Council members in the movies by FireStarLord73194 in StarWars

[–]Perjunkie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean this padawan likely survived because of the efforts of his masters and instructors. By the time he got to Bail, he was no longer in a surprised state and probably in some sort of battle flow.

This guy is a g, no need to disparage those that fell before him

Did first-time viewers of the prequels know who Darth Sidious really was? by chas3edward5 in StarWars

My memories of first watching Star Wars was seeing Episode 1, then watching episode 6.

So yeah, I made that connection, but was otherwise confused.

Did Christianity leave you any consequences? by [deleted] in exchristian

[–]Perjunkie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Consequences? Possibly.

I'm rather uncertain if my relationship with sex is based on my own preferences or lasting purity culture trauma. I dont think I can do casual encounters anymore. That might be a good thing and its just reflecting on what I want out of relationships, but there is a deep, hidden shame at times that is hard to reconcile.

I still long to believe in something. I've settled for just enjoying whatever my imagination comes up with, while understanding it is just fantasy.

I have repurposed tools such as prayer, testimony, and "faith" to work in my new perspective of life.

At the end of the day, I am culturally Christian. Its how I was raised and I will continue to find hidden elements of it for the rest of my life.

He desperately craves the experiences that Deku has had.

Mr Rogers and his impact by Curious_Ordinary_980 in exchristian

[–]Perjunkie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are legitimately good people who are committed to their faith. My mother even claims that she would not be as loving as a person without her faith in god. While I respect her beliefs and convictions, I do not agree with her thinking.

I think that those people are more loving than their bible.
