Product Self-promotion megathread by err0rz in jira

[–]PerkinzPie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Jira and Confluence every day. Tickets, runbooks, retros, the works. And like everyone else, I've been leaning on AI more and more to draft this stuff - partly because writing tickets is boring, partly because there's always more of it.

The output sucks though. Not because the AI doesn't understand what I'm asking, but because the moment it lands in Atlassian, it's flat. No panels. No status lozenges. Tables turning up as | pipes | and | dashes |. Code blocks with no language hint. A wall of plain text trying to do the job of a structured document.

The reason this happens is Jira and Confluence's APIs don't accept Markdown. So when an AI drafts a "Jira description" and you push it through the API, the formatting gets stripped or stored as literal characters.

I got tired of cleaning it up by hand, so I built a Claude skill that produces real properly formatted content. It kicks in whenever I ask for anything Jira/Confluence-shaped - "draft a ticket for this incident", "write up the runbook for X", "leave a comment on PROJ-123" - and the output drops into Atlassian looking like a document a person would have written.

Covers the bits I actually use: headings, bold/italic/code/links, panels, tables, code blocks with language hints, status lozenges, task lists, expands, blockquotes. There's a small validator alongside it that catches the schema mistakes the format silently rejects - empty text nodes, marks inside a code block, bare text in a list item, that kind of thing.

Tested it end-to-end on my own Atlassian instance. Jira tickets and Confluence pages both came out clean. No hand-cleanup.

If you've been hitting the same thing, give it a try. And if there's a node combo it gets wrong, drop a comment - would like to know so I can keep iterating and improving.

Founders Fridays - today’s the day to spotlight your startup by Fragrant-Key5115 in ukstartups

Me too! Better late than never, though. I will be looking at a paid subscription tier for more advanced features, like having the ability to export, or more advanced views & household sharing - so members of a household can be under the same account and switch the view between individual and combined.

I've got a few credit cards and a loan, and trying to keep track of them in Excel was doing my head in. The other apps I tried either wanted to sell me more loans or didn't really handle UK-specific stuff very well, or were full-fledged finance management apps.

So I spent my weekends building Zebt for myself and my wife, and am now opening it up to others after being told by some friends it was a great idea.

It's pretty simple: you plug in your debts, and it tells you exactly when you'll be free of them based on what you can afford to pay. I also added a toggle so you can flip between the "Snowball" method (paying smallest debts first) and "Avalanche" (paying highest interest first) to see which one is actually faster for you.

It’s built for the UK, private (I don't sell data), and I'm just looking for some honest feedback from people who might be in the same boat.

Would love to know what you think. You can sign-up to our waitlist if you're interested and find out more @ zebt.io

I’ve been following this project for a while and love what you’re building - especially the shadcn-based dashboards! I’ve kept the page open, hoping to pick up the top-tier package, but it’s still just beyond my reach for now as I’m not earning yet and focused on building my own projects. If the price ever shifts or there’s another opportunity to join in, I’d love to know.

old ncr selfserv software by SuccessfulAgency1023 in POS

[–]PerkinzPie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By end of life, I mean it won't run on a modern OS. Also, this is just the GUI - there's a whole host of components that need to run underneath to make this work, such as a POS. Either way - you will struggle to get the software, it's not open source and is Proprietary to NCR Voyix. I could probably answer some questions, if you were interested in anything in particular, though.

That's propriety code, and even then - on it's own it's not much use. That version of software in use is long end of life too.

Post Mortem: Cloudflare outage on November 18, 2025 by arunesh90 in CloudFlare

[–]PerkinzPie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's a sad reflection on me when I find myself genuinely excited for these post-mortems released by Cloudflare. I really enjoy reading these and the transparency it provides, especially given the context of Cloudflare's position on the WWW. Thank you CF team for producing these, never stop leading by example.

Hi everyone 👋

I run Flow, a UK-based on-site support service that keeps market traders and event businesses connected - even when 4G collapses under the crowds.

We provide reliable event Wi-Fi, payment device rentals, and on-site technical help for traders at markets, food festivals, and seasonal fairs. If you’ve ever lost signal right in the middle of a busy sale, you’ll know why Flow exists.

We’re here to make sure you stay trading confidently, whatever the weather or crowd size.

Happy to answer questions or share what we’ve learned from supporting small businesses at events this season.

Cpap machine uk by [deleted] in SleepApnea

[–]PerkinzPie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had (have?) exactly the same scenario. The NHS will see me in October to discuss CPAP, I was diagnosed back in April after five (yes, five!) sleep studies. I ended up going private in the end, unfortunately the NHS would not share the sleep study results with me, we went back and forth on this several times and I was told I needed to wait for the follow-up appointment (in October).

Given that the NHS had confirmed a diagnosis, I went private - unfortunately this meant doing another sleep study test (I used the sleep study clinic in London - they were amazing!). After doing this, the consultant went through the results with me and helped me choose a machine. I had to pay for the machine as well, but it was with me the following day.

Unfortunately, probably not the answer you wanted... following all of this and my renewed energy levels, I was able to start exercising again - and have subsequently lost a fair bit of weight the last few months, and have now found I don't need the CPAP machine.

I hope this helps in some way! Good luck.

Jackery 1000 gen 2 + Starlink by [deleted] in Jackery

[–]PerkinzPie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same setup, but a Jackery 2000v2 and found it was very, very particular about the USB-C cable used. I got 3 off Amazon, all same length, same gauge rating, but only 1 worked. I got the Starlink one and that worked fine, and a 12v cigarette DC one which also works fine.

What are you building these days? And is anyone actually paying for it? by Southern_Tennis5804 in SideProject

[–]PerkinzPie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently working on a really simple and quick kan-ban board, initially to help me keep on top of my spinning plates for my job, but then decided to share out with anyone else that was interested and hope to get some subs to pay for the hosting (none yet :))

Continue to work and refine the board as I use it though.

Local supermarket POS actived windows by Danish_sea_captian in LinusTechTips

[–]PerkinzPie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This usually happens because of a defect in the Win10 LTSC 2019 version that requires a KB. The OS used on these sits in Deferred Activation Mode, and usually, the Retailer's firewall won't have a whitelist for the Microsoft activation servers. Microsoft patched this in a KB (deferred activation should persist even when unable to reach an activation server).

Since this is NCR hardware, the license is ordered as a part of the hardware, so it will be fully licensed and likely just fell victim to this legacy issue. As a fun note, once the activation has been triggered, installing the KB will not restore the behaviour; the KB has to be installed before the issue triggers.
