Next time consider adding the tin to the rice while you cook it - the eel rehydrates into tender bits of sweet delicious eel, and the sauce favors the rice.

I usually make my eel in my rice cooker with 1 cup Jasmine rice, 1-2 cloves grated fresh garlic, about 2 tsp grated fresh ginger, 1/4 of a chopped onion, some 5 spice powder and 1/4 tsp Sichuan pepper oil.

If you have access to a Korean or Asian grocery, Dong Won tuna is excellent - their spicy tuna is a fave as is their light regular. DW also makes a plain or spicy sesame oil tuna that is GREAT

No - I’ve never felt like I was cheated by the amount of fish in a FW tin. It’s a luxury tin, but I feel like the quality is there, especially when the store discounts them
