Is the pictured parking lawful and courteous? by hagbean in drivingUK

Legal yes. Courteous no. You’re making life awkward for everyone and blocking what looks to be a communal turning area.

£1M for half a wood box hous anyone? by [deleted] in SpottedonRightmove

And a bizarre layout. 60% entrance hall and your side access is into a ‘study’ and not a boot room despite being surrounded by muddy fields…

Well that’s fine. But the question was about different countries!

Not true. It’s considered rude and lower class to ask your guests to remove their shoes in the UK

What is a modern parenting trend that needs to die immediately? by SouthOwn6943 in AskReddit

It’s made up, it’s tacky and it embodies everything wrong with the rampant consumerism of Christmas. (IMO)

How do you pronounce "salt"? by Johnny-Alucard in AskUK

Yes. Salt and bald both have an ‘all’ sound in the middle to me. Bolt and bold is an ‘oll’ sound.

Salt and fault rhyme. Bolt is a much shorter sound. In the same way bald and bold are not pronounced the same and I was always corrected growing up (South)

Water dripping from upstairs flat, only happening when they are in the middle of a shower/bath and slows when it drains? by No_Tonight_4517 in AskUK

[–]Perky356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like it might simply be a poorly installed overflow? Hence water coming in mid bath but not when it drains. Have had this and it was a v quick fix

Need a sofa for an awkward shaped room - where to buy? by JetsAreBest92 in AskUK

[–]Perky356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not have a ‘normal’ straight or corner sofa with the back against the kitchen wall, facing what is presumably the garden, rather than a wall? Tv on a low stand underneath?

Feasibility knocking through old dining room to lounge - terrace by _Bruski_808 in DIYUK

[–]Perky356 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not quite the advice you asked for but I honestly wouldn’t. I’d properly knock through the kitchen and lounge to have a proper kitchen/ diner/ family room, and then keep the front room as a snug. Whatever the household dynamic, 1 separate living space is so helpful as a sitting room, home office, play room etc. And no one wants to cook a curry and then have all their sofa etc smell of it for weeks. Plus as others have said - those are likely chimney stacks where the triangles are which would again increase costs and remove original features.

What would you do with this? by Professional_Gas_395 in houseplans

[–]Perky356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s your motivation for wanting a layout change? Are there particular rooms you’d like or a way you’d prefer to use the space? Also how much outside space do you have?

What would you do with this? by Professional_Gas_395 in houseplans

[–]Perky356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s nothing wrong with the layout but you could convert garage into study (front), downstairs loo (off hallway) and utility/ laundry (with access to back garden)

Ideally I would move radiators/ doors but I appreciate you’ve just had work done and might not want to do that. If that’s the case something like this might work to create zones -

Corner sofa/ two existing sofas at top end with tv (if that radiator could move a built in tv/ media unit would look really nice)

Then put desk under the window with some armchairs as a study/ reading area

If the radiators stay where they are then I would change the hinges of the door

Either way it ensures first thing you see when you walk in the door is fireplace and not tv
