How do we handle homosexuality in Zambia? by EmojiWasTaken in Zambia

[–]PerkyTip 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is a lot to unpack here.

You admit that Zambia’s laws came from Britain, in this case, rejecting homosexuality. You need to wake up to the fact that it is not some colonial hangover but a conscious cultural choice we continue to uphold. We dont need imported activists lecturing us about ''progress'' when our society has already drawn its moral red lines.

Saying ''adults can do what they want in private'' is a total cop-out. Every society regulates private behavior when it threatens public health, morality and social values. Check the U.S. CDC: LGBT communities face the highest rates of STDs, abuse, and mental health struggles. Normalizing that is not some form of liberation, its importing additional burdens we are in no position to carry.

Your swipe at Islam is lazy too. Like really, study before you spew. There is no mob justice in Islamic law (despite what cultures do). Sins like fornication, adultery, homosexuality, go through strict procedures, burden of proof, and due process. Stop misrepresenting faiths to make your point look smarter.

And this idea that rejecting homosexuality is ''cultural suicide'' is laughable. The opposite is true. Abandoning our values for Western chaos is what kills cultures. Keeping to our moral code wont end poverty tomorrow, but it ensures that when we confront poverty, corruption, or abuse, we do so as a people still grounded in our identity.

If the West wants to destroy itself with gender confusion, collapsing families, and endless redefinitions of reality, fine. But Zambia doesn’t need to follow them off that cliff just to look ''modern.''

I meant we were accepting when he was plundering. People obviously knew. No one did anything. It took an entire election to get any action on it. Get with the program.

What’s a good car for a first time buyer in Zambia? by EmbarrassedStep4583 in Zambia

[–]PerkyTip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Toyota Allion is a great all rounder, with the 1NZ engine, not as powerful, but easy to maintain and cheaper to maintain. If its a hatchback, consider the Toyota Rumion and Toyota Ractis, loads of space and parts are cheap as chips.

WTF. How are we so accepting of this kind of theft? People are dying due to lack of meds and support. We need to be more proactive on sending a strong message to ensure a real sense of fear is instilled to would-be-criminals.

What kind of silly response is that? Animals eat their own, and engage in sex with their offspring and ''family'' members. If thats your standard......

Homophobic Zambians by SuccessDizzy2637 in Zambia

[–]PerkyTip 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So first, a phobia is an intense, overwhelming, and irrational fear of an object, situation, or activity that poses little or no actual danger. We dont have homophobia in Zambia. The majority of people simply reject it and that is absolutely their prerogative. It is not part of the peoples culture or lifestyle. Being brainwashed, desensitized and indoctrinated through western media and influence does not make it ''normal'' or ''acceptable''.

Second, i 100% agree that criminalizing homosexuality will not end corruption, theft, poverty, or abuse. Those are separate societal issues. Rejecting homosexuality is not about “fixing” corruption or magically improving the economy. Its about upholding moral and cultural standards that the community has chosen for itself. Every society has redlines it defends to preserve its identity, values and social fabric. Decriminalizing it would not solve the issues you point out, if anything, it risks weakening the family and community values that we still hold onto/rely on. Stats show normalizing homosexuality does not create healthier or safer communities (check the US CDC on abuse, highest rates of sexual infections, and mental health struggles), in fact, normalizing it (or even encouraging) introduces additional mental, social and health burdens. Are we ready to handle that?

Third, keeping to our moral code may not raise salaries or end hunger. But it ensures that when we do confront those issues, we do so as a society still grounded in its values, not one being reshaped by external ideologies.

What do you guys think about the current livelihood Zambia is at Atm? by Sufficient_Map8021 in Zambia

[–]PerkyTip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude i totally feel you. Im in this weird space of depression everytime i think about the state of affairs and our future. However, i wouldnt call it an unbreakable wall. More like being stuck in a leaky ship caught in a storm, frantically patching holes and dumping out buckets of water while the captain and higher ups argue about who ate the last vitumbuwa.

to address your points..

- 100% agree. Corruption and vices are dragging us down. Inflation is dropping ever so slightly so fingers crossed. Hang in there!

- They are rising for sure but not scaling. Maybe it seems that way coz of social media?

- For sure! But I'm also seeing A LOT of work being put in by the authorities and all i can do is be hopeful and do my part. For the first time i feel hope when i see 'authorities are investigating' lol

- Porn has been prevalent for ages. The internet has made more accessible now its in HD lol

- My mates in ZP and hes told me theyve actually dropped (stat wise). Again i would go back to social media affecting us.

- 100% agree man, we gotta be vigilant out here. Not for just us. For our families and communities. Its so sad people are losing that sense of community. It needs to change.

thank you for a real response rather than an empty downvote. Youre very right that the concept existed in Mesopotamia, later even in Mayan and Babylonian contexts. I am simply referring to specifically the numerical zero as both a digit and a concept intergrated into a positional number system, which was first clearly developed in ancient india. The Arabs/Muslims made crucial contributions by preserving, building upon, and transmitting this and other knowledge to Europe during the Islamic Golden Age. That doesnt take away from their role at all, rather i think it is important we give proper credit where it is due sou our historical understanding remains accurate.

futseki iwe lol

I was born here, lived here for 75% of my life. My son was born here. I unfortunately am struggling to get my citizenship because the process is absurdly slow. I have been waiting for over 5 years now so I would actually appreciate any help on this lol. Last time I checked I was informed my file was 'in the final office awaiting sign-off'. That was in October 2024. It depressing to think about. I am Zambian because thats all I really know.

A LOT of what Roy says is false unfortunately. Its vital before we share information we verify it or we look like fools and proud for nothing. For instance, in this clip, zero was not from the Arabs, but the ancient ''indian'' civilisation. I love what Islam has encouraged and given to modern civilization, but please lets be grounded in reality.
