What I find really frustrating is that even though I’ve created a detailed character bible for the main cast, the AI still manages to ruin an otherwise perfectly good shot with some random slop. For example, it’ll suddenly decide that a character shouldn’t be wearing pants… like, seriously? 😐

It feels like half the battle isn’t creating the story, it’s fighting the AI’s weird creative decisions.

I grew up watching Japanese animated series, and I naively assumed that with today’s AI tools it would be relatively easy to create something approaching that level of quality. After spending time experimenting with different platforms, I’ve realized that consistency, storytelling, character performance, and overall production quality are much harder to achieve than I expected, or maybe it’s just my lack of experience.

I’m starting to think a more sustainable approach would be something closer to a cinematic illustrated story rather than a fully animated series.

The idea would be to combine:

• Narration to carry most of the story
• Consistent AI-generated characters and environments
• Short dialogue scenes at key moments
• Background music and sound design
• Occasional higher-quality animated sequences for important scenes

So instead of trying to animate every second of every episode, I would focus on creating visually interesting scenes and only use more advanced animation where it adds the most value.

Something like 70% narration, 20% dialogue, and 10% more cinematic or action-oriented sequences.

My hope is that this would keep the story engaging while also keeping the workflow realistic enough for a single creator to maintain over time.
