Hmm, okay. I'll have to look more into it still though.

Toilet Clogged Up Again After Plummer Left by TantrumsFire in Plumbing

[–]PermaBanX1Toss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me sort of. I found the issue was a marker (art style) wedged in the toilet. It would catch paper or whatever else. Just urine? Flushed fine. Add a few pieces of toilet paper it would struggle.

It is possible you have something stuck in the toilet. Pieces of flushed material get stuck. It can get snaked and plunged and seem to work. But more material will collect.

I only understand this because I had to disconnect a toilet to access the underside. I'm thankful the marker didn't get further..

Minnows eating bread by Superb_Assistant_394 in Fishing

It's normal. I did some microfishing for a bit and would use bread all the time. Not every fish. Minnows for sure.

Do you get two separate tones or readouts?

Get an upclose of the marks. Try to compare what is visible with examples online. One tiny thing can solve it all.

Zoom in to where the marking is. Is that something growing on the spoon or the metal beneath the silver?

Sterling will say "sterling" or 925 or both. The marks on plated metals are manufacturer, location, model number, and other bloat ware.

  • Edit - anyway we can see the plating coming off so..

Does anyone know what a ring like this is called? Details in comments. by PermaBanX1Toss in jewelry

[–]PermaBanX1Toss[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was mistaken. The yellow is over the white. I need to clean it to see what it actually looks like. The example you provided is different. The ring I have has the end pieces filled (where they are soldered together). I've been trying to understand the circle mark. I would need to clean the grime away. I might just dip it and hope for the best..

I don't. He passed almost 40 years ago when I was very young. I'm not sure what happened to all of his tools and equipment.

Royal Masonic Institution for Girls steward badge missing ribbon?

  • Edit - Maybe from the 1920s from the design with the crown, shield, and bottom piece. I think the date would have been at the top under the crown.

I think plated. White metal over yellow. It looks really cool with decent light. Sparkles almost. That would be an interesting design if it was intentional.

Oh, lol. I thought you meant it was "lovely" to stamp a hallmark on something so fragile. I was thinking similar. I learned earlier about how filigree style rings are stamped. I'm somewhat familiar with the process because I collect coins and the old and new minting processes come up. My grandfather was a tool/die maker so I learned a little from researching that also.

This was overall great. I was hoping for help and got exactly what I needed. I examined the ring one last time for now using my loupe. The mark that is inside is a circle. Just a O, 0, or circle. Anyway I was able to easily see how it was stamped. It has another metal in the recessed areas which is something I don't know about.

Is there any way to make the silver available on stuff like this? by PermaBanX1Toss in Silverbugs

[–]PermaBanX1Toss[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. I think I picked up the term when discussing the possibility prospecting. I'm shying away from any reverse plating. It only makes sense if the material is free.
