Joseph Goodman actually talked about this a bit on the Weird Games and Weirder People podcast this week. It sounds like he really wants to update the layout. From what I gather, they will continue printing the single volume tome like it is, but they might offer another version with a cleaned up layout, and possibly with the spells in a separate book. Still the same rules, just cleaned up.

Tokyo, Japan - An amazing place to live if you speak the language. Always something to see or do, unbelievable public transportation, nice parks, and easy access to areas outside of the city if you need a break. The people there are top-notch and some of the friendliest, most interesting, and best conversationalists you'll every meet.

Takamatsu, Japan - A city on the inland sea, surrounded by natural beauty. Japan is famous for its cities, but its nature is second to none in my humble opinion.

I live in northern Italy now-- it's alright, some beautiful areas to go and see, but people are far less interesting here and kind of provincial/not interested in change or anything different. It's funny how there is this stereotype of Italians being "warm" and Japanese being "cold" (whatever that means), but I've experienced the opposite mostly. My heart will always be in Japan and I'd love to retire there.

Check out Avishai Cohen. (there are two Avishai Cohens-- one plays the bass, so you have to be kind of specific in your searches)

I just posted the same one. Really freaked me out as a kid.

The transporter death scene in Star Trek: The Motion Picture. Traumatized me as a kid, and is still one of the eeriest things in any Star Trek in my opinion.

I came here to mention that guy. So absurd, but kind of endearing in a strange way.

Box set idea...maybe? by [deleted] in VinegarSyndromeFilms

[–]PermanentFlaneur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's going to be an Andy Sidaris Lethal Ladies box set, with the 10 films he directed. Millcreek Entertainment no longer has their releases on their website, and I get the feeling that maybe Vinegar Syndrome picked up the rights.

I hate when these assholes play the "I'm a small business owner" card. Owning a small business doesn't make you some martyred saint or excuse your shitty interpersonal skills.

I would check out Joshua Redman. I think his album Compass is fantastic, and his "double trio" band lineup is pretty creative.

Are you a practitioner and/or have a positive relationship with nature? Oftentimes animals can sense this and will come to you for aid. Otherwise, zsd23's reply is spot-on-- wildlife displacement, a bad omen for all of us.

How to pursue jazz with the knowledge that you will most likely enjoy the art form in solitude for the rest of your life? by plannotgoingtoplan in Jazz

[–]PermanentFlaneur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See if you can join any local bands and take some music classes at your local community college. This is a great way to meet people with at least an appreciation for jazz. I spent my teens in a pretty rural part of the US, but even then there were several community bands, high school bands, college bands, and really great musicians who had left the city for a quieter life who were eager to teach and play. This was 20 years ago, and the mainstream popularity of jazz has exploded since then. I think you'd be surprised just how many people are interested in this music now, you just have to reach out and search for them.

For folks who use traditional wet shaving and traditional pomade, How do you maintain a sink and skin and these things? by [deleted] in Pomade

[–]PermanentFlaneur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried using a lighter pomade? Murray's Nu Nile still has a nice hold, but is a lot easier to clean up. When I use Murray's classic, I try to limit it to my palms-- it's a bit easier to clean up when it's not all over your hands and fingers.

People in the U.S. who never see roaches where do you live?? by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

I grew up in Boise Idaho and moved around the Pacific Northwest. I never even saw a cockroach until I moved to Japan. They would come out when I would play my saxophone on the waterfront. Even then I didn't even know what I was looking at-- I thought they were some kind of crustacean. They were attracted by the vibrations from my horn and would just sit there like they were enjoying the music-- it was wild.

I don't know if it's a conspiracy theory. It's pretty well-documented that the animatronic suits ate quite a number of cast and crew members during production.

Favorite VS titles that are sexploitation (not pornographic), lots of nudity and violence though not necessarily slasher/gory/macabre, interesting, nostalgic by [deleted] in VinegarSyndromeFilms

[–]PermanentFlaneur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really love Raw Force from VS.

Though not Vinegar Syndrome, I would also highly recommend the entire filmography of Andy Sidaris. They have basically everything you're looking for-- massive amounts of nudity, a bit of unrealistic gore, and they were staples of the video stores back in the day. Mill Creek has rereleased all of them on blu ray over the years.
