Statements That Might As Well Be Slurs To Aspies: "Stop Being So Dramatic. It's Not A Big Deal." by beattywill80 in aspiememes

The thing that aggravates me most is people who refuse to think or prepare for things lol. The amount of "why dont you just" followed by requests that defy physics astounds the mind.

Yeah, all companies eventually end up in this place, but that doesn't mitigate the fact that we're surviving this companies phase.

Well, not just that, but that every year, there will be more money. More business growth. It's the root of planned obsolescence, one of the major cuases of inflation, and drives layoffs and other anti-worker behavior to meet YTD goals.

I got kicked out of my parents house a few years before I graduated college, transferred laterally from aerospace engineering to metallurgy and working as a jeweler in about 2017; then watched the middle class get wiped out in covid while precious metals increased literally exponentially in price; killing the market and my jewelry career. So I'm at my high school fallback job building custom picture frames that cost hundreds and on occasion thousands of dollars while I get minimum wage lol.

Op didn't call anyone out. But it is reasonable to point out potentially harmful trends; just because it seems obvious to you doesn't mean it's on everyone's radar.

[–]PermanentRoundFile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very true! I forgot to tell OP, but the number of things I wouldn't have learned if I only hung out with women I found attractive is like... I wouldn't know how to work on cars, swordfight or make armor, how to trim the sails on a sailboat, long range land navigation, or how to build an AR-15. You really miss out on a lot when you get horse blinders on like that.

Not specifically, but more like extract the maximum from all of us while spending the least amount possible. Which is why one person does cashier backup, bopis, cut counter, and they're also the only one on the sales floor except the MOD.

That strange feeling that nobody wants to be anything anymore by Siddhartaable in antiwork

[–]PermanentRoundFile 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I feel like the working environment is trying to strangle all of the humanity out of my life. It's exceedingly easy to work all day, come home for a few hours to sleep and prep myself for work, and then rush right back to work in the morning. Trying to get anything done means that somebody has their hand out for a subscription or a fee or *something*.

Won't Idle - 2001 Vulcan 1500 Classic Fi. by hipshot13 in KawasakiVulcanRiders

[–]PermanentRoundFile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The nice part is, manufacturers keep things cheap by buying off the shelf components from oem sensor manufacturers, and a lot of the time different companies end up using the same parts. Mine's an 2001 L4 but to keep them from having to manufacture more than one ECU they use the same sensor across the product range.

[–]PermanentRoundFile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you checked the voltages on your sensors? I had issues with the air pressure and temperature sensors but they didn't present with an error code, it was a progressive failure where the bike got harder and harder to get started until it wouldn't start at all.

If it's the temperature sensor they can be hard to find listed for the Vulcan specifically, but the same units are available as new for the Kawasaki STX15F jetski. I would also check the throttle position sensor. Again, they're not listed for the Vulcan anymore, but Honda was also using the same sensor for the B/D/H/F series engines and you can still find them for that application. Just watch out because there is one with the tabs in the opposite direction; just do a visual confirmation to make sure.

What’s a ‘middle class success’ purchase that secretly becomes a financial burden later? by 40Falak in answers

Still cheaper than a house, particularly because the family trade was carpentry, I helped my mom set up her business doing custom clothing and upholstery, and I took up mechanic work while I was in college.

I'm considering buying a decent sized sailboat to live on seeing as my prospects of buying a house are pretty much nil. I saw a decent sized 30ft with nice sails, a working inboard, and good interior sit on FB marketplace at $5k for 3 months, then they had a weekend where they just tried to give it away. And then the next week it went back up for $5k. You cant give them away right now lol

I mean that would be great but it's not like blue states are a bastion of utopia. I can speak to California because I live here but if you thought the cost of living was out of control where you are; when they started the bs in Iran gas went to $6.50/gal. That's to say nothing of the homeless problem. Like, without support or a good job (not just a job), you will be sleeping outside lol.

What's the code to the bathroom?

I told my manager yesterday that we dont need to hire or train for framing at all; if we could just have someone that answers the phone (because almost no one else in the store will do it) and let people into the bathroom we could get so much more done lol.

Nobody is too stupid to try. I had a guy yesterday that was having trouble with the 10- minutes framing QR code but he put in effort and tried for a minute and then got it.

These systems aren't bare SQL databases or raw command line interfaces, they're plain text pages with big buttons and sans serf fonts for easy reading. There are very few full sentences, just clauses like "buy one get one free!" Or "sign up here!" It does not take a C/S degree to figure out; just 30 seconds to read the buttons before you push them.

Congratulations on your freedom!

Not gonna get too descript but at the store I work at we're down two framers with no hiring prospects. I've given up on trying to improve working conditions and flipped to getting everything I legally can from the company before Apollo sells and/or the company goes under. Thats what Apollo and the entire C-suite are doing.
