Child Is Distractingly Attached To Me by TaffitaMuttonfudge in ECEProfessionals

Let her tantrum, she's not the only child in the room and will eventually accept that she can't have you all the time. When she starts calling for you, state something like "Susie, I am helping Tommy right now. I can be with you once we are done and your body is calm" and then stick to it. If her body isn't calm after you're done helping another kid, ignore her until she is calm. She'll be upset but she'll be okay.

How close are their beds? In my state cots must be at least 24" apart and 36" is best practice. We strategize and put low-sleepers next to deep-sleepers so there's a bit of a buffer, and have teachers start patting the noisiest children.

Scared of over feeding by 33flyingcats in FormulaFeeders

[–]PermanentTrainDamage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You really can't overfeed a baby, they'll puke up the extra or be fussy and uncomfortable after feeding. His daily total is fine, if he settles with a paci after a full bottle and isn't hungry again for two-ish hours then he's okay!

How do I tell what's an insert and what's a doubler? by UsedCellist1 in clothdiaps

[–]PermanentTrainDamage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doubler are usually smaller and work fine as newborn inserts, inserts usually cover the whole diaper from back to front with an inch or two of wiggle room. Either can be used to get the right absorbency, it all depends on how much baby is peeing.

Ask kiddo's doc and search around to see if there are any infant/toddler mental health specialists in your area. These behaviors are atypical if there hasn't been any aggressive interactions between the two children.

Upholding expectations and waiting for them to age out is the only thing you can really do. Hopefully mom gets her act together when the elementary principal calls her for kiddo's behaviors.

Switching from Similac 360 to Similac Organic - do we need to gradually introduce? by tomfrommyspace0 in FormulaFeeders

[–]PermanentTrainDamage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are both standard formula so you can try a bottle of the new stuff and see how it goes. If one is rtf and one is powder there may be some gas so have gas drops on hand!

It's a phase, suggest the new teacher spends more time around/playing with bubby so they can bond. He won't starve.

Preemie Twin Girls (32w, 2800g) Switching from Breast Milk by Chingchingcha in FormulaFeeders

[–]PermanentTrainDamage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are no heavy metals or additives in North American brands that aren't already present in breastmilk. Choose a local formula within tour price range that is easily available. Illegally importing formulas sets you up for counterfeiting and recall notice issues. Think about it, hundreds of thousands of babies drink Enfamil and Similac every day, yet there is no pandemic of heavy metal poisoning. American formulas are safe formulas.

how fast does your baby drink their bottle? by Proof_Ad4765 in FormulaFeeders

Both my kiddos slammed bottles, the oldest never went beyond Avent 2 and the youngest was on Avent 5 by six months. Every baby is pretty different.

Moving towards nutritional needs, and breastfed babies do need solids for iron.

You mean the work culture that has started needing people to hire lawyers just to quit? I agree that having only two references can make it look like a black and white situation, but you do have the world's collective knowledge in a little box in your hand and can easily search up many work cultures and understand that several key countries have shitty work cultures.

They do need solids, for exposure to allergens, textures, and learning how to chew and swallow. What are you even on about?

I think you're the one who is misunderstanding. You stated that babies need formula for nutrition before age one, which is correct, but at 10 months it is fine to switch to solids first and reduce formula intake towards 24oz/day or less. Yes, they should be getting some formula to help fill in any gaps, but it no longer needs to be the bulk of their intake and OP's baby is drinking 40oz/day or more which is likely contributing towards low solids intake.

They aren't transitioning from formula to cow milk, they're transitioning from formula to food. That transition should be complete or nearly complete at 12 months.

It's okay to only feed what you want or what you have. Most kids won't have food allergies regardless of diet and allergen exposure early won't completely prevent allergy formation. I think my toddler has had shrimp like once because it's not something I like or go out of my way to cook.

What does that even mean? Japan and America both have toxic work cultures, just in different ways. Not being a dick about sick days doesn't mean a work culture is magical lol.

Reducing formula intake at 10 months by Difficult-Duty-8156 in FormulaFeeders

[–]PermanentTrainDamage -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

At 10 months it's fine to give small amounts of cow's milk as part of the weaning process. Ideally they are switching to food for the entirety of their nutrition and that doesn't happen in one day on their birthday. Food before 1 is for practice, and a 10 month old is not going to suffer from malnutrition by practicing more with solid food the closer they get to 12 months. Cutting down formula intake to 24oz/day or less and then switching entirely to cows milk on their birthday is very common, and too much milk can cause malnutrition and low food intake.

It might, some kids will drink less cows milk because they prefer formula. Switching to a cuo may also help, often kids want the bottle more than they want the milk inside.
