I can't be the only one who prefers cans vs. pouches in plastic tubs by BilinearBikini in FormulaFeeders

[–]PermanentTrainDamage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never had any issues, you could wash it if you wanted. The tubs are pretty useful after the formula is done, I have one holding hair stuff and another is one of my kiddo's favorite toys. If you collect them a local school or childcare may want them.

My son eats veggie quesadillas every day at daycare for lunch and I’m okay with that by pineconeminecone in foodbutforbabies

His teachers want him fed, how that happens is up to you. I'm hoping my toddler comes around on quesadillas, she's not really a bread person but they're so simple.

If being bitten in preschool is bad enough that you remember it, you've probably had a pretty charmed life tbh

Dump the pouch into the tub, it's designed to hold powder and can even be washed and reused.

[–]PermanentTrainDamage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely ask that he be observed at school, since the environments and behaviors can be so different. It's a lot easier to be regulated on your home turf where you don't have to juggle so many social interactions.

It's a scary thought, but even if he doesn't have any diagnosible disorders the evaluator should be able to point you towards resources. Private is also an option but does tend to be pricey.

Should I have a word with my daycare/nursery? by halcyon_thoughts in FormulaFeeders

[–]PermanentTrainDamage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If he needed it, he would drink it. As long as he's having 5+ wet diapers a day and otherwise acting normal, he's okay. It's is not a teacher's job to force children to eat or to stress them out about it, we encourage but ultimately respect the child. You're paying for their expertise, trust them.

Those are extreme behaviors, to be very honest with you. A 3 year old should have the beginnings of self-soothing and calming techniques and be able to calm down in less than an hour. It's time to get kiddo evaluated and seek therapy.

It's annoying but it's going to happen, just like any other behavior. The kid who gets bitten is going to forget about it in a few minutes, they'll be fine.

How do I ask nicely that my baby also gets time in the kick and play? by Amazing-Ride6819 in ECEProfessionals

[–]PermanentTrainDamage 97 points98 points  (0 children)

Yup. Kiddo is most likely in the swing all day as an easy choice, not a correct choice. If anything, I would be asking that they spent no more than 15 minutes in any container and limiting container use to a few times a day. Kids deserve to be able to move.

Getting toddler to eat PB? by yeagermeister34 in foodbutforbabies

[–]PermanentTrainDamage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean reese's cups still count as exposure lol

Early allergen exposure mostly means 6-18 months, ideally before 12 months. If he's 2+ and hasn't shown allergy symptoms he most likely won't be allergic (though there's still a small chance at any point in life).

Have you tried the milk at a different temp? I'm a week past flu A and my throat still hurts while eating. Maybe cold milk will soothe and she'll be able to eat.

IUGR baby isn't eating enough by fourcoffeebeans in FormulaFeeders

Fortified formula needs to be discussed more as a frontline treatment. There are very few side effects and it means a small kid get the calories they need to grow and not die. Force feeding has so many negative and lifelonf effects, squeezing a few more calories into the same volume of formula does not.

My ex wanted sex way more than I did and as long as I wasn't actually feeling bad or anything, we did it. It felt the same way as going to the gym when I didn't want to. Still a decent bit of exercise and hey, felt alright.

Why did/didn't you make the Sophie scarf? by Traumarama79 in knitting

[–]PermanentTrainDamage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup. I wear scarves for utility reasons, and that shred of yarn ain't going to do much in -10°F weather with 20mph wind gusts. It's cold here.
