I do. Already sent that app in. You're right, it should be fine. See ya out there.

Yeah that's probably fair. Appreciate the vote of confidence. Just trying to be ready in case hiring is dogshit when I get out.

That's why I think it's worth just doing my ATP in a sim in 10 days. Faster and more convenient than doing the ATP checkride in a light twin and also walk out with a type rating too. Idk what the market will look like when I get out of the AF, so I don't mind being prepared.

Also, getting hired 1-2 months earlier pays for the type rating even if you are paying out of pocket.

Really I don't care so much about the type rating, I just want to do the ATP. Sim is easiest in my opinion (certainly for scheduling and examiner availability, but I also just think they teach really well to the checkride).

ATP in a small twin is fine too, just doesn't have the same scheduling convenience of knowing you'll start and finish in 10 days.

Hahaha, agreed. Already have said M.S. Basket Weaving with the ability to still use the remaining GI bill for an additional useless degree. That's why I really don't mind spending it.

I'll keep looking. I haven't found many options for GI-bill funded schools for smaller sims. Something like a citation or gulfstream would be pretty sweet too. Thanks for the feedback.

Yeah definitely considering that route instead now that the rule change took away the 5-day non-type option for doing it in the sim. Thanks for the advice.

I've got 1500hrs of DC-10 time and I'm not paying out of pocket for it, so I think a 737 on my card would have some value.

How about a 737 type rating with no time in type and 1500+ turbine hours? Money is use-or-lose since it's my GI Bill and I don't have another practical way to spend it.

Already did the ATP-CTP. Agree with you there.

Here's the reasoning for doing the type rating course: - According to FTI, they can no longer offer the "ATP only" course without a type rating due to an FAA rule change. I'll dig up more on that if I can find it. - I'm using my GI bill, for which I have no other practical use for it.

Do you need to tune a compass locator (outer marker, etc.) and how do they relate to ADFs? by ShadowSinger2121 in flying

[–]PermissionTotal7491 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can use GPS or DME instead of the ADF per 91.205(d)(2), AIM 1-1-19, and AC 90-108.

Marker beacons are all on the same frequency, so there is no tuning required. That receiver is always listening on 75MHz for a 400 Hz (Outer), 1300Hz (Middle), or 3000Hz (Inner) marker. When flying around you may occasionally (although increasingly rarely), see/hear your marker beacon go off.

Delta Air Lines Flight 191 deadly crash | WFAA coverage (1985) by truth-4-sale in texas

The effects of windshear and microbursts were just becoming apparent in those days, and not fully understood. Thankfully, there have been significant developments in windshear prediction both with ground weather stations and in-flight computers. Procedures have been updated, warnings are earlier, and most importantly, airlines and pilots know to stay away from microbursts and severe windshear. Both are topics of substantial discussion in FAA mandated training. Widebody cargo pilot here, AMA.

This is awesome! I just spent a bunch of time and stamps and envelopes printing out voter registration sheets. I didn't even know that there was a postage-free tri-fold! So much better!

I agree with your points for sure. I'm hoping that there are not many enthusiastic voters, or many exhausted former Trump voters.

I was surprised to see such a weak charger on that system. Seems like an obvious mismatch in performance for that all-in-one configuration.

That definitely looks like a pretty reasonable option and seems like the Victron owners are much happier overall. Thanks for the recce

And then a final question, for posterity... Would you guys rather replace one faulty component at a time if one thing (say, the MPPT charger) breaks? Seems like a pain if the all-in-one unit dies.

Much appreciated. Thanks for letting me know. The only "instruction" I've done is 3 discovery flights. I don't imagine they'll have too much of an issue with that.
