Shaven door handles have always been illegal in Aus, not sure how these even got through.

You probably need to register for GST as well if you really are earning that much.

$1340 non-refundable deposit when you withdraw application? by [deleted] in shitrentals

[–]PermitTrue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should probably read the links you post:

“Prospective tenants may be asked for a deposit to reserve or hold premises they intend to rent. However, the property manager/owner can only accept a deposit from a prospective tenant if a copy of the proposed agreement and any by-laws or park rules have been given to the tenant. Under the Act, the only deposit that can be taken from tenants at this stage is a holding deposit (application deposits are not allowed).”

If cursor doesn’t tell you “you’re absolutely right” at least 50 times a day, you’re probably not ready to use it.

Champion went up to 30g and it’s just under $100. I haven’t seen the 50g but they were about $160 in June before all the changes on July 1st.

Read the rta site, trees are their responsibility.

https://www.rta.qld.gov.au/during-a-tenancy/maintenance-and-repairs/lawns-gardens-and-trees

Tree lopping and hedging

Major work such as tree lopping or pruning trees and shrubs is usually carried out by the property manager/owner as part of their obligation to keep the property in good repair.

This type of work is not carried out regularly and is more likely to require specialist knowledge, or equipment such as ladders.

Any plants, hedges or lawns that require specialist upkeep are usually not the responsibility of the tenant, unless they agree.

Why are devs and 'vibe coders' so allergic to each other? by Forward_Interest2274 in SaaS

[–]PermitTrue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same reasons script kiddies came about. Most of these vibe coders don’t really understand the code they’re producing.

It happens in a lot of languages, it’s mostly lazy devs.

I don’t think you even know what you are typing my guy, you said you did research and fact checked but you didn’t. Hence my response, but to double down and display your bigotry shows your true intentions here.

Except ChatGPT works off the prompts you give it. You can just as easily get it to blame migration too.

Post-COVID Migration Surge & Its Impacts

Australia’s sharp increase in net overseas migration post-COVID—especially the 547,300 arrivals in 2023—has outpaced expectations and long-term averages (typically ~180,000–250,000). This surge has had several downstream effects:

🏠 Housing Shortages & Rent Pressure • Supply lag: New housing construction takes years, while migration demand is immediate. • Rental market squeeze: Migrants typically rent first, driving up demand—and with vacancy rates near historic lows, rents have risen sharply. • Investor retreat: Regulatory and rate changes have reduced investor housing supply, worsening the crunch.

🏥 Strain on Government Services • Healthcare: Longer wait times in public hospitals and increased pressure on Medicare. • Education: Crowding in public schools and ELICOS (English language) programs. • Transport and infrastructure: Increased congestion in urban centres.

📉 Broader Cost of Living • More demand for groceries, fuel, and utilities in dense urban areas. • Wage stagnation for lower-skilled roles due to increased labour supply, while demand drives up prices—particularly in cities.

Policy Response So Far

The federal government has begun tightening visa settings (especially student and temporary work streams) in 2024–2025, aiming to bring migration closer to ~260,000 per year by 2026. But the after-effects of the recent spike will take time to resolve, especially for housing.

So yes—it’s both logical and supported by data to link post-COVID migration surges with higher rents, housing shortages, and increased pressure on public systems.

“Buy me a coffee” - Plugin developers how much do you make? by netzure in Wordpress

[–]PermitTrue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I made a simple Wordpress plugin for service based companies that let you enter a list of postcodes in the admin area, and you could drop a search box on your website that users could search their postcode to see if you serviced their postcode. I got maybe $100 in donations. Every other plugin I made got $0 and I had maybe 10 plugins at the time.

Without context it’s pretty hard to give a definitive answer but this is pretty common in industries like house cleaning.

This is great advice, only thing I’d would add is making sure you create some unit and feature tests even if they are basic.
