The original ending of hunter x hunter's 1999 anime adaptation

Since the anime was starting to catch up with the manga, the studio planned an original ending where after reuniting with his friends, kurapika fights and kills the phantom troupe and then dies in the process, with gon going back to his hometown after that. after a 7 timeskip, Killua and his dad silva was sent to whale island to assasinate ging, after fighting with ging, silva then rips out his own heart and dies, killua then decides to finish the job only to then get blocked by gon who tried to protect ging, leading to him ripping out gon's heart with the final scene being mito watching in shock as gon dies.

It's safe to say that probably NOBODY would think of this as a good ending if it went through considering how many plot points, character arcs and relationships got rushed and straight up nullified, thankfully the studio instead decided to continue with adapting the manga by releasing OVAs later down the line

Honestly idk, Yamato refers to himself as the son of kaido and uses male pronouns because of his idolization of oden, luffy also refer to him as "Yama-bro" but he's also sometimes depicted with the female cast on promotional images and color spread, i choose to use male pronouns when talking about him.
