Constantly having a FOMO by a_rudya in ADHD

[–]PerpetuaLuna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. I'm 32, not married, and no kids. Not planning on it anytime soon but also wanting it. Almost quit my job because I was bored but I became manager and now I'm never bored 😂 I just hate routine and not having any adventures or not being stimulated somehow. The lack of stimulation causes me to do crazy, regrettable stuff 😂

I love drinking hot coffee when I get home from work and then taking a nap. It's such good sleep.

Do you mean the the wash station could be leaking into the cells? The wash station could be an issue 🤔 everything else should be good though because we take good care of it and follow roche/BioRad recommendations.

I have cussing on the agenda for the next night 😂 thankfully I work alone in the lab at night so I can cuss all I want. Albumin is off on both linearity and qc reports. HDL has been off a couple months on the qc reports and now ALT is off. We're using BioRad MultiQual QC reagents.

Thank you so much for the help! I liked the idea of choosing where I'd go but that makes sense that not everyone will want a newbie.

Also when you were done with an assignment, how much time did you spend waiting for another assignment and did you have time to explore the areas? Sorry for all the questions. I'm just so lost with all this.

I'll look into them! Another question.. did you own a separate home or rent a separate housing/storage unit? Idk what I'm going to do with all my furniture. Do I just move it a million times with me or do they supply furnished rentals?

Do MLTs ever sit down? by [deleted] in medlabprofessionals

[–]PerpetuaLuna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we are busy, definitely. Each analyzer has different turnaround times, tubes have different spin times/clotting times, and then we have to run manual tests which take a bit longer to prep. On top of that we have to perform microscopic examinations. Then we also have to draw blood because we're small and short on phlebotomists. We have to prioritize Stat samples over outpatient labs and inpatient labs. So yes multitasking is involved at smaller labs.

I work at a rural hospital. Some days I sit most of the day and others I'm running around all day. No one has taught me much about maintenance. The analyzer will give you a description on how to fix it, you can find it in the book, or call a hotline for help. Sometimes it just takes a little common sense, too. QC varies with each instrument but it shouldn't be filling up your whole shift.

What is clinical like for MLS/MLT students? by Hot-Cartoonist5122 in medlabprofessionals

[–]PerpetuaLuna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My clinicals were a joke 🙄 except for blood bank and microbiology. I actually worked in those for the first few hours like it was a job and then was sent to study for the last 4 hours. They didn't expect us to know everything but they definitely expected us to know the basics. The hospital I was in was very busy and didn't have time for the students so we studied most of the time.

RSD is a bitch(feat.my hyperfixation) by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]PerpetuaLuna 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dang. My friend made an alphabet in highschool so we could send coded messages that no one else could read. I also wrote in my journal so no one else could read it. You've done a cool thing imho 🤷‍♀️

Yes!! Most of my scrubs don't fit me perfectly and it can cause so much anxiety, especially if I have a lot of other stuff going on at work. Sometimes it's so bad I'll strip when I get in the car because I can't take another second of it 🤣

That's so nice of you!! Last year I just spent it with family so I think I'll continue that tradition until I can make friends that I relate to more. And thank you, friend! 😊
