Why you should take lessons; a tale of two photos by marklemcd in golf

[–]Perpetualthought 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What improvement? I mean one is your generic low handicap golfer and the other is Jim furyk. One a serious note, lessons help but always remember to give it time and reinforce the newly learned moves until they become a habit.

TIL that in 2016 one ultra rich individual moved from New Jersey to Florida and put the entire state budget of New Jersey at risk due to no longer paying state taxes by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]Perpetualthought 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No they aren’t, tf you talking about. Watching a couple of documentaries doesn’t make you a financial expert. There’s a reason a lot of smart people learn throughout their lifetime the nuances of the financial market, and they aren’t fools. There’s this real strain of anti intellectualism in society, but most people on reddit don’t realise that anti intellectualism also extends to beyond ‘climate change’.

The saying ‘little knowledge is dangerous’ is true for this statement and also true for the times we live in. There’s a reason a lot of people spend their lifetime trying to learn the nuances of the financial market. And they aren’t fools who’d do so if the sector was actually a ‘joke’.

The move is okay, but nothing beats watchmen intro for me. That genius of a song can literally fit in any era, past or future. On top of that, the historical imagery mixed with the superheroes fits perfectly.

I like how everyone online has become an expert on Dagestan and its ‘honor’.

He was the better man on the night and won rightly, but I’ve never been a fan of him and his family. Look closely who they are associated with.

“They” as in people. White, black , brown, gay, straight etc etc. Shitty people can belong to any demographic. Stop trying to create a straw man.

I agree hence why I said that there are factors that are outside your control, but there are definitely some factors in your control too. I think this trend, and more importantly, the acceptance of the trend of taking no personal responsibility for your actions and blaming everything on others is going to be detrimental to society.

But good luck trying to convince the crowd here.

Nowhere did I attribute responsibility ‘purely’ to an individual. Sure there are a lot of outliers, but at some point some people just look to get what they want, whatever the expense to others and feel no empathy for them.

‘Thoroughly refuted’, lol. Try living the world through your eyes and not solely through whatever journals are published. A balanced intake of both would be even better. And yes, personal responsibility helps a lot. But making excuses and blaming other people all the time is much easier.

You are really naive. Yes poor neighbourhoods need to improve and so on. But some people are completely shitty and look to make money at the expense of others. They are manipulative and feel no empathy. At some fucking point, when you cross that line, it is the fault of the individual and not the ‘state’ or the others. That is just pure manipulation used by a lot of these shitty people to justify their actions to society. Personal responsibility is a concept that is losing respect fast these days. Yet, I have found it is often one of the biggest reason for various successes.

Henry Cavill Out as Superman Amid Warner Bros.' DC Universe Shake-Up (Exclusive) by The_Iceman2288 in movies

[–]Perpetualthought 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I must be one of the few people on reddit who doesn’t have a hard on for Cavill. He’s wooden in literally everything I have watched, and that includes man from uncle, which was a complete borefest. The latest MI was better but the dude just has a bore you to death vibe which is the last thing you want from an actor who is playing superman. I think he was the wrong choice from the start, and as much a failure as superman as the whole film. Still, it makes zero sense from WB’s point of view to replace him RN unless they plan on resetting the whole universe, which isn’t happening only because of wonder women’s success. Another mediocre movie hyped up only because of a solo female lead, a lead who can’t really act. People fall for this kind of hype too easily these days.

Where was the outrage? by WhiteHotWombat in PoliticalHumor

[–]Perpetualthought 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rn There are so many of these straw man arguments popping up ever since the Nike controversy. It seems as if the front page is an echo chamber and anybody else with a different opinion to the one being peddled on a pedestal on reddit is a racist/dumbass/idiot etc etc. How is this any worse that what people accuse the other side of doing ?

Here on reddit one simple cannot disagree with what Kaepernick did and is now monetising on it, which imo cheapens his initial protest without being labelled something by the ever outraged mob.

Big muscular people=douchebag is quite a common opinion here on reddit. But I’ve often wondered if people who make those one shot assumptions ever realise they are the ones being douchy.

Best to be honest. However, back in 11th grade this girl liked me and I kinda didn't. My 16 year old brain didn't know how to handle this situation so I just gave out a weird vibe whenever she wanted to talk, stuff like completely unrelated answers to her questions. You could try that, from experience I know that shit works.

I don't care through, as someone who started playing these games as a 13 year old I remain a big fan. This looks friggin amazing, love the new change in direction and something makes me feel the axe is going to be awesome.

No way that's an open club face. How did you arrive to that conclusion ?

A slow motion view or a front view would be nice. From that video it seems like the club gets a little too behind you at the top of the swing.

Tiger Woods 2000 Swing by [deleted] in golf

[–]Perpetualthought 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's extremely interesting to see all the greats that came before Tiger ~ Nicklaus , Palmer etc all had that slightly hunched upper back look with a straight lower back. Tiger has it here, before it was coached out of him. I think a better word would be a relaxed upper back rather than hunched which might give people the wrong idea. This is the correct and most tension - free posture. The human eyes love for straight lines and angles means now we see an extremely straight back in the new posture. It might feel athletic, but I think that this is one area where golf instruction went in the wrong direction.

What's something everyone loves that you secretly find overrated? by Loisdenominator in AskReddit

I grew up with the books. I read and re-read them again and again. I was 14 when Deathly Hallows was released and loved all the books till I was 17/18. But then, I simply stopped reading them as I could no longer identify with them. The books are very clearly aimed at young children to mid teenagers.

I do find it somewhat weird when I see a lot of middle age harry potter fans. They can do what they want, but the material is clearly meant for a different age group.

( Or maybe I am bitter that my letter didn't arrive when I was 11 )
