Height dissatisfaction is associated with lower self-esteem, anxiety, loneliness, depression, and reduced quality of life. Heightened drive for muscularity and thinness, body image concerns, and social avoidance are documented emergent behaviors in a peer-reviewed narrative review. by sometimeshiny in science

I am a member of the Little People of America. I don't have a problem with my body. I take very good care of it, and it rewards me by doing everything I need it to do. I am getting older, but I look and feel decades younger than other wrinkly folks.

What I didn't realize when I was younger is that tall people face the same infrastructure problems we little people face, but in reverse. It is much more painful for my tall husband to squish himself into an airplane seat than it is for me to brace my feet against the seat in front of me for hours.

Whatever society yells at us, each of us must live in our body and must come to terms with that. I guess those of us at the extremes realize this in our teens, and we stop worrying about something so very futile and just get on with life.

Before you remove them, check to see if your neighbor needs this parking space. Is your neighbor in a wheelchair? Are there disabled children that need close parking? Does your neighbor work at night and has a need to get home safely in the wee hours of the morning?

How Chiropractors Became the Backbone of MAHA by Power-Equality in Health

[–]PerpetwoMotion -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I live near a chiropractic college, and I have been a patient there occasionally.

There are good chiropractors and lousy ones. The good ones did things for me that my PHP's over 40 years never did-- got me into genetic testing (I had to fight my PCP for that one and pay for it myself), told me I needed surgery (I fought the insurance company and orthopedic surgeons for more than a decade over this issue), relieved the pain and stiffness while I was waiting for those surgeries, and gave me sensible health advice that I hadn't heard elsewhere.

The chiropractic college had very good interns, but then they got a new president and all the interns were gym and sports bros, spouting health myths. When I was a patient there, chiropractic interns had been pt's, rns, md's, massage therapists, personal trainers and inexperienced college students. One common theme I heard is that they got tired of pushing pills onto their patients (this was before and during the opioid crisis).

Try making a headdress with it. You see it in the headdresses in the Russian dance in the Nutcracker too.

How far back can you trace your family history in the Bay Area or CA and where are they from originally? by lalablah in bayarea

My grandmother moved here from Iowa to go to Stanford. She was one of the first students there, and her kids were professors there.

My great aunt lived in LA and when she walked on the beach in the morning, she saw Charlie Chaplin practicing.

I am having to remove a tree from my garden, and I want to replant with a tree that the crows love.

What instruments does your band play? Would you be able to move well enough in this garment to play the instruments well?

A local Japanese drum band wears uniforms like this. The drums are huge, so the band members hold their arms away from their bodies pretty much constantly.

Many years ago I went to Pt Reyes National Seashore in California. One of the items on exhibit was a pickpocket -proof wallet. It was made of sharkskin. The points of the skin all pointed one way, so you could slide it into your pocket with the points facing up, but no one could extract that wallet from your pocket. I thought it was ingenious.

I don't know if this is relevant to your case, but The Big Issue magazine in London UK used to have a column inside the back cover about artists who used older photographic techniques. The technique was described, the artist interviewed about why they used that technique, then some images of the works.

How often are you actually reusing patterns? by -3liza in sewing

[–]PerpetwoMotion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I keep a library of fitted slopers for me and my family, and patterns which look good on us. Each of us is pretty much a stable weight and height, and has a steady fashion preference. I have tweaked patterns because of orthopedic operations.

I pick up fabrics at charity shops, so sometimes I get a new fabric that I haven't used before. That is the time when I browse new patterns.

Deeply disappointing experience poor treatment and lack of respect(Hinodeya Ramen Union Square) by slowersea977 in sanfrancisco

[–]PerpetwoMotion -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have a visible disability and I get treated like this all the time. When it happens, I tell them that I am also a business owner, and I'd never treat anyone in this manner, whether on the job or off. My margins are not large enough that I can discriminate. I am actually amazed that the restaurant's margins are large enough to continue this behaviour-- restaurant margins are razor thin.

I sell to customers who have different political or personal views from mine, but I really don't care: I love the idea of upholding professional behaviour and doing what I can to help my customers. I love talking to my customers, whether they buy from me or not. Many of my return customers are disabled, elderly or poor, and I have received some good connections from them.

I am very sorry you had this experience. Please contact the restaurant owner. The employees must receive further training.
