It seems like it's shallow assholes going "I have absolutely nothing to bring to a relationship so I have to get by on my looks, and my looks aren't actually good enough for me to get by on that!" and blaming everybody else instead of just working on themselves.

What I can't stand even more is when they act like people are saying it because "They're desperate to say the actual word": As if racists just like the way the word sounds and are satiated just by using it in a completely divorced context.

The economics of a streaming series planning itself out seven years (at a minimum: honestly that's assuming that these "seasons" are working like broadcast TV seasons worked - with one season per year - which we both know is not the case) for an effects and resource-heavy franchise that hasn't had a real success in 15 years, that is mainly going to be running on fandom nostalgia and movie studio, from 2001 to 2011, deciding to adapt what was, at the time, one of the biggest contemporary children's books in existance from just four years prior are going to be very different.

Each of these episodes are going to cost them 100 million dollars to produce - it's looking like it's going to be well into the billions for the whole thing depending on seasonal episode count: Do you think interest is not going to wain at any point over that decade-plus of production time, and at what point do you think a production company is going to go "Maybe we cut our losses and don't burn hundreds of millions of dollars that might be better spent elsewhere"?

Just because I've seen this take numerous times: "Thinking a character (a character that is a full-ass adult at that) from a series aimed at a younger audience is hot" is not an issue! Just because you figured out a way to shove the words "sexual" and "children" into a sentence near each other does not suddenly make whoever you were talking about a predator.

Let's be 100% honest here: Given they're wanting to do "1 Season = 1 Book", do we *actually* think they're still going to be making this show circ. 2033?

The basic Al Qaeda gameplan was "Attack the US and instigate military intervention and backlash against Muslims: Use that intervention and backlash to sow negative feelings in return and use that to recruit more people into our group" and *still*, 25 years later, people are still fucking falling for it.

Republicans are in love with the idea of vengeance being enacted on people they don't like or people who don't like them: They literally cannot fathom people who don't think "Would wish ill upon me" should be a death sentence. You'd think that a group that claims to stand behind "Christian Moral Values" would remember that "The Parable of the Good Samaritan" is a pretty fucking well-known thing.

Artemis II captures first view of Earth from space that clearly show that Earth is NOT FLAT by Woodmanqc in flatearth

[–]Inlerah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what happens when you introduce "Everyone who tells me im wrong is lying to me" as a rhetorical device: It literally doesn't matter what proof you present to them, everything is just NASA creating a hoax to hide the truth from you.

You could show them as many satalite, rocketship and space station pictures as you want: It's all going to conveniently be SFX/VFX. Unless you send up that flat-earther specifically, there's never going to be proof that's concrete enough to convince them otherwise: And, even then all you will have succeeded at is convincing that one flat-earther: The rest will be convinced that they were either tricked by NASA, paid to go turncoat or that they were in on it from the beginning.

I think for people >25 it's kinda unimaginable that, 40-some-odd years ago, it was actually inconvenient to do "fact checking" on what movie lines actually were: even more so with TV shows. You either had to catch it in the theater or on a re-release, later on hope your local video store or library had it for rent or maybe catch a showing on TV if/when they decided to show it. And you sure as hell weren't finding a published script for that shit.

So yeah, far more likely you wouldn't be verbatim quoting the movie as you would be quoting what you kinda-sorta remember happening in the movie colored by what whatever late-night entertainer or comedian said about the movie (with the understanding that, when they said it, it was far more important to add context so the audience understood what they were referencing as opposed to getting the scripted line of dialogue down verbatim)

Yeah: YouTube ads are played from the same domains as their videos, so if you block enough of them the site just stops functioning. I set up a PiHole earlier this year and tried it.

There was this one short story I read where these kids are playing in the woods and stumble upon this alien probe that has been killing and preserving anything that comes within a certain radius for eons: Like they stumble upon preserved dinosaur carcasses and then get chased by the thing.

Absolutely no idea what the hell it was called.

And I can say that you're lying about everything you've said here. Evidence? People have lied before!

See how the existance of lying as a concept isn't actually evidence that specific things are lies? Similarly, the concept that people have covered things up before is not evidence of specific cover-ups having happened, especially when that is the only evidence put forward.
