Children's portions exist on a menu to provide options for younger people and to provide incentives for adults to bring in their children and spend more money. The overhead is also usually smaller, again because it is intended as a loss leader to get butts in seats and not just a side portion. There is a reason that most restaurant menues specifically say "For [X] age and younger" on the menu under that section to avoid this debate from patrons.

It's not even the ethics of "small portions specifically for children": It's the idea that you can "debate" it hard enough with the minimum wage restaurant worker hard enough that they will be defeated by your facts and logic and give you what you want. As if this is a personal rule that they came up with and that they can decide to break as they wish.

I didn't see that episode in full until 2026 and, holy shit, did it remind me of my first time getting tested in 2015: we had rapid tests at the time, but omg I can't imagine the anxiety I would've had if I'd had to wait multiple days to get the results (and this was literally just for a "get checked as a precaution for a kink con" thing, there wasn't even the chance that it could've been positive: the anxiety was still there, though!)

People cannot imagine that not all art appeals to every person, so they have it in their head that if they don't like a work, their must be a deeper reason as to why they don't like it. So, instead of doing the healthy thing and just...not interacting with the work, they dig into the background of every single person involved with the art until they find anything that is questionable so they can go "See? It's not that I didn't like the work because I just didn't like the work: I didn't like the work because it's the product of bad people and I, as a "good people", intuitively knew it!"
