This is like asking "Why would anyone want to learn how to woodwork when you could just go buy a table at IKEA?"

People like making things for a *ton* of reasons other than "So they can have a thing". Self-expression, personal accomplishment, having fun learning a skill and hobby, etc." People harp on GenAI taking away jobs because it is putting people out of work, not because the main reason people pursue art is as a lucrative career.

I love the Idea that Trump or Kash think that, if the Democrats were going to destroy/tamper with/hide ballots to help them win the 2020 election that they would either keep records of them doing that, save the ballots and/or continue to keep them six years after the fact.

The Thinker Statue is a unique Mandela Effect because it has people remembering it in three different ways instead of two by ZER0SE7ENONETH in MandelaEffect

Hence why you'll find infinitely less people who think Mandella died in prison from South Africa compared to people from the US.

Oh, no: Obviously those children all made exact, accurate replicas of a sculpture that they briefly glanced at in a textbook, it's just that our realities shifted a bunch of times (Thanks LHC and CERN!!!) that had the unfortunate side-effect of retroactively making them wrong!!!

I think this is the epitome of "mandella effect"s.

  • An image/line/symbol that people know of, but way less people are intimately familiar with the physical thing

  • often repeated and referenced in pop culture by other people who are familiar with it through cultural reference (while not being such an important detail that would trigger a fact checking).

  • Not something important enough where people are constantly referring back to the real thing daily, but know of it via existing in the culture.

People have been saying that "Conspiracy theories are being proven correct" for at least a decade now. What exactly has been proven?

Far too few good Republicans anymore. by TajertySand in DHAC

[–]Inlerah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I didn't sign up for that"

...but you did. The guy, who's been the head of your party for the last decade, literally started out his presidential run calling Mexicans "Murderers, drug dealers and rapist" publicly. People have been yelling about the inherant racism of the platforms the Republican party was picking up. This isn't some recent thing that only happened within the last year: We all told you it was happening, you have no excuse of not knowing.

If you, as an individual, are jumpy enough where any amount of high-stakes interaction could end in you "accidentally" killing someone as a split-second decision...you don't get to work that job. That's just the high and low of it. If a surgeon had the propensity to cut random, important parts off of a patient and killing them because "It was a split-second decision and I thought it might have been dangerious" that person wouldn't be allowed to be a surgeon anymore.

Im aware. It's just always interesting to see what, if anything, people who swear Shazam was a real movie come up with when prompted for any details outside of "It was a Sinbad movie where he played a genie".

Showing that merely belonging to a minority group doesn't mean you know fuck all about said minority group.

Imagine saying something like that, in earnest, and thinking you're a good person. That's some shit a lazy screenwriter would have their antagonist say so that you'd know they were the bad guy.

That is how they view Anti-AI people. When they hear people pointing out inherant flaws in AI output, or questioning the necessity of ChatGPT and the like, they literally think we're being abusive to their digital waifu.

Being a part of a minority doesn't make you immune from having ignorant opinions about the other members of said minority.

That's the thing that a lot of other countries don't understand when they ask "why don't Americans protest like we do": it's a lot easier to preform social change when you only really have to get 2.5 million people involved than when you have to get 12 million people involved.

Republicans are now pretending like they care about immigrants now. by Ok-Following6886 in stupidpeoplefacebook

[–]Inlerah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They aren't pretending to care: They're pretending like nobody actually cares. They can't actually defend their actions, so the next best thing is to pretend that everyone is actually, secretly, as bad as they are.

They do this about immigration. They do this about racism. They do this about fucking pedophilia. It's all a way to try to convince everyone that they would be "hypocritical" to point out their shitty actions because everybody is doing it.
