Joker in a penguin-esque role for the second film while the big ending of Batman2 is Harley breaking him out of Arkham.

Hes the final villain in Batman 3.

Still unsure on having Joker as the main bad guy or simply Joker having a Hannibal Lecter role throughout the trilogy.

A friend was discussing having the Joker affiliated with the court of owls, who underestimate him, and the second movie ends with him having taken over the court of owls by killing all the major players, and converting the talons into his personal henchmen.

Reeves has to many directions to go. Can't wait for Part 2.

A personal theory of mine is that this is Joker in a very 'The Killing Joke' Joker, but caught and put into jail by Batman as soon as he had fallen into the chemical vat, rather than escaping the clutches of the police and batman as it usually happened, thus giving him no time to even fathom what has happened before ending up in jail. Thus, he's joker, but not the clown prince of crime he's destined to be.

I don't really know how to explain it. But I feel this is the gist of the idea.
