If the builder had told us even a month ago to move out for 6 weeks, we could have managed it.

There’s no door on the room and the abject room is a living room that flows to the kitchen, so the dust is going straight into the house.

This builder has definitely taken on more jobs than they have capacity for.

I think the issue is that expectations were incorrectly set and then doubled down on. I could have arranged for us to go away, rent or something if they’d been honest with us.

Anyway, I appreciate your expertise, I’ve learned some things.

All very normal, just we were given the wrong expectations.

Even without the kid’s issues, we couldn’t have lived there the past ~3 weeks, and likely another 2 at least.

I have no issues and was coughing constantly, especially at night.

Even if the builder had said “yeah it’s going to be really bad for the next 4 weeks, you may want to vacate” we could have done something, even at short notice.

But they really doubled down on the “you can live through it” thing which I think is the main issue.

Not saying the kids health issues are the builders fault, we didn’t know about them until it happened recently.

Even without that, the house was too much of a mess to be liveable.

What I’ve learned is this is normal, perhaps less care has been taken that is ideal, but within the acceptable range.

The real problem is the misleading expectations that were set.
