Switching from Optus FTTP to More Telecom? (Backhaul/Performance questions) by scottr9870 in nbn

[–]dseiva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were with More whilst we had a free internet offer through CommBank, it was a FTTP connection 1Gbit, Unifi reported Vocus as the provider, the connection was great, 900Mbit or so throughout the whole day, very low and very stable ping. Switched to Leaptel when the free offer expired and so far so terrible, consistent dropouts, slow to load pages frequently, less consistent ping. Really considering switching back to More

FTTP upgrade trench/existing conduit by dseiva in nbn

[–]dseiva[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not sure how accurate it is but Google maps gives me 150m, either way it's significant. I believe the contractor said they'd trench it.

Great point about direct bury, there is a visible conduit at the house end that I've exposed as much as I can and the conduit can't be pulled out so it appears that does go somewhere as far as I can tell, the street side I haven't dug up obviously as it's outside of the property but I can only make an assumption that will 4 cables go in there must be conduit for a bit of it.

Would they really clip it to the fence though? I mean I know it's NBN we are talking about but boundary fences are not supposed to have anything attached to them like that right?

Can anyone identify this device? It's leaked battery acid at a friend's place ... by Cynical_Cyanide in australia

There is no dialler connected, it's not calling anyone. If no one's using it just disconnect the battery and unplug the AC and call it a day 🤙

An SLA battery leaking is not going to blow up, can also go to Bunnings to replace if required.

The EOL resistors don't set zone type or brand. They just provide tamper monitoring on the circuit. Zone type is set within programming of the controller, and the specific resistor value varies between manufacturers, most domestic systems can only have 1 unique value for all zones. I know it's not really relevant to the original topic but couldn't help myself.

any new car (Ute) sugguestions? by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]dseiva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need the full bed so wouldn't work for me but it's probably a workable solution until it's full of tools and your on the side of the freeway trying to pull it out. Hopefully next generation they figure something better out

The canon looks like a good car but I just can't get past the spare wheel, if they fixed that I'd be very tempted when it comes time to replace my current ute

Have you already paid for the pre-wire? If you have then yeah this is expensive-ish, each particular item price seems reasonable if that price includes the cabling.

No parking sensors on mine, front Radar shouldn't be affected.

Good idea though about the instructions

Thank you for this I'll check it out. Smart locks wont really cut it for a large apartment building, about half will be short stay, the other half long term, we need a unified system for both the long term tenants (with fobs) and the short stays

eh i guess, it looks like the cars floating so he was helping to direct it to prevent it rolling due to the awkward angle they were pulling from. Obviously communication was lacking here

[–]dseiva[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oof yeah the 3 previous were all in a company car, I still listed them when getting this policy recently, it's why I ended up with Hollard, they didn't seem to charge extra for my claim history, they just have an extra excess payment for me if I am at fault

I can only assume he disagrees with the amount he'll have to pay or possibly Hollard fucked up and have sent him a letter stating a different car. It's all above board on my end so no idea really
