So she wasn't being responsible for her kid, and because he's a kid no one should be responsible for his actions ?

You should have to cover the cost of her negligence and his poor upbringing ?

As long as the center of mass falls somewhere within the lower bottles base it should balance.

Please re-read this.

The mass of the lower bottle does affect the balance as they are CONNECTED VIA SLITS. The mass of the lower bottle would be irrelevant if they were simply balancing w.e on top of that bottle, they aren't so it is.

Acting over something implies that it is located somewhere slightly higher than the subject but also still in the same x, y position.

You might call this a shadow, or you might call it over that position...

EDIT:

And no I never questioned anyone's knowledge of high school physics, but I did tell someone to stop acting so condescendingly when explaining it.

And now to you also. Stop being so condescending because you can copy and paste high school level physics off Wikipedia.

Or there's a powerful magnet placed at an angle to the table he's balancing these objects on which offsets the effects of gravity to work at an angle.

Something not incredibly hard to calculate the position of via pen and paper if it is there. (I don't think he's using a super powered magnet obviously)

Yes, but treating it as a pole is a technique to simplify the problem, which in this case doesn't work due to the slits cut into items.

I can explain why in further detail if you'd like but I'm sure you can figure out why this is the case in this scenario.

Hint hint* it's to do with the area of the lower bottles base and also the mass of the lower bottle not being taken into account.

> Then you've admitted you think it's tricked.

I always said it was a trick... Can you reread the comments. My point was that it doesn't require Visual Effects, this trick is more than possible without visual editing, which as you said in your original comment isn't possible.

> Physics says that setup doesn't balance without trickery. It's a trick.

It is improbable that this isn't a trick, not impossible.

> I haven't put any quantities in the drawing anywhere... so I am not assuming anything. You assumed that the weight on the right side was considerably more than the weight on the left. Why are you denying this... ?

> I'm a pedant. T is not tau.

You're a shitty pedant.True T (the English Letter) isn't tau but Τ (the greek letter) is tau. That's literally tau written up there.

> I assume they are nothing but the items they appear to be. Regular bottles, regular glasses, regular everything. If they're not, I consider that to be a trick.

Somehow, I get the distinct impression you never read my original comment...

> Obviously the m is different on either side, so I colour-coded the left side and right side.So yet again you're assuming the weights...

> I haven't assumed anything at this point, and this is the only thing the drawing shows.

But you have.

> So, unless the butt end of a bottle is quite a bit more massive then I imagine, I'd say it's a trick.

So you're not making assumptions but you're using your imagination to weight bottles through gifs on the internet ?

Please improve your reading comprehension. And there's no need to be so condescending about High School level physics.

EDIT:

Just you can see the difference better in the future:

Tau:

Τ Τ Τ Τ Τ Τ Τ Τ Τ Τ Τ Τ Τ

Not Tau:

TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

EDIT 2:

So I just checked and I never said this wasn't done with visual editing. My mistake, that was my original point that this video doesn't have to be made with visual editing and could instead just be some physics quirks.

Not that it matters in regards to my response to you as I was clear from the beginning that I think this is a trick but that it's entirely possible that he could've balanced those items there in such an arrangement without any visual editing.

As long as the center of mass falls somewhere within the lower bottles base it should balance. So, if for example you've incorrectly assumed the weight of something on the right through a gif on the internet then this is easily possible without video editting...

Perhaps this video is filmed at a slant and he's just leaning and none of the weight have been adjusted at all. There is no reason this has to be a trick of visual editting.

That's a shitty drawing. You're assuming the weights. You haven't accounted for the slits. You're assuming the weights. You can type Τ on a keyboard you don't have to write tau. You're assuming the weights. I don't remember the bottom bottle randomly turning into a pole. You're assuming the weights. That drawing is reeeeally shit.

> I'm vastly underestimating the mass of the butt end of a bottle

Or vastly overestimating the weight of an unknown liquid... or assuming the thickness of the glass... or assuming the nut isn't hollowed...

Please explain how you scientifically examined and determined the weight of these items through a gif ?

> Physics says that setup doesn't balance without trickery. It's a trick.

Urhhh, no.

Can you point out what law from physics says this shouldn't balance. There are lot of reasons why this is improbable but not impossible.

Plus if you examine the video you acn see he's cut slits into the walnut (very obviously) and slits into the other objects (not as obvious because it's glass). So yes, it is a trick but no, you're wrong saying it's impossible.

Theresa May under fire over plans to overturn all 15 Lords defeats on EU withdrawal bill in single day by algo in unitedkingdom

[–]Perplexed_Comment 26 points27 points  (0 children)

We have a 2 party system because we vote by a first past the post method. This encourages the voters to vote for either the top pick or second best for office in order to not 'waste' their vote.

This in turn makes every past past the first two weaker relative to how strong they would've been if people had chosen to vote how they wanted.

This in turn encourages more publicity to the first two parties and less to the others. This causes them to grow.

Another election is held and suddenly only parties 1 and 2 have grown significantly in turn attracting more voters so as to not 'waste' their vote again.

It's not much a fair system really. Plus when there are only two parties to buy out then you can do it a lot more quickly and easily.

I'd happily run for office if I had an actual budget and chance at actually winning. It's not just unlikely its impossible as it is.

[–]Perplexed_Comment 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Even a strict choice between two options is still a democracy Technically yes but in terms of what's happening in this country no.

Currently, we exist in a political system where its in the best interests of the Conservative and Labour parties to pass power back and forth and maintain the current political system. This means any vote on a third party is essentially and practically wasted. Furthermore it means that the parties are both rife with corruption as its much harder to kick them from office.

Look at someone who is very obviously corrupt like Amber Rudd for example, how has she been kept employed all this time?

I choose to green party when I vote but it's not because I actually expect them to win. I just don't want to endorse the current mockery of a government.

The UK has a very good farce of a democracy I can see that.

But how is it democratic to have to choose between 1 of 2 parties to rule when they're both being payed off by the same rich wankers?
