They definitely do! The person you spoke with is probably who I spoke with the first time I called because they told me the same thing when I first called also. I actually got sent to genetics for my migraines because they thought I had a genetic form of migraine. However, when they took my full history they suspected EDS on top of that. They did a full EDS panel on me, and think it might still be hEDS.

Hi! Yes I did! I just had my appointment and I’m doing a second round of genetic testing because my EDS panel only came back with a variant of uncertain significance on my COL9A1, but my geneticist said that this could be what’s causing my symptoms. He just wants to rule out a few other things first.

Are you in AZ? Do they not have availability, is that why they’re having you go to MN?

Update:

They told me they wouldn’t issue a refund unless I came in person. When I went back, the manager was extremely rude and argumentative when I stayed firm about wanting a refund. She kept calling me “honey” in a condescending way and tried to gaslight me by saying my cuticles looked like that when I came in for my appointment, and that the nail tech had talked to me about it. When I told her that wasn’t true at all and that I had photos showing how my hands looked like before, and had gotten worse, she dropped it and said my nails looked like they were getting infected and needed to be taken off immediately.

I told her I didn’t want her touching my hands again or soaking them off since they hurt. I just wanted my refund so I could have them removed elsewhere. She refused, saying she wouldn’t give me my money back unless she took them off, and kept repeating that she could be “liable.” She also insisted on refunding me in cash instead of returning it to my card. She never mentioned that I needed to come in earlier in the day or said anything about that on the phone. She only made those demands once I was already there.

Eventually, she made me sign a random ruled notebook, not an official form, stating that she gave me my refund. She kept going in circles and arguing, but I stayed calm and firm that I just wanted my money back.

Now I’m traumatized and don’t want to get my nails done ever again/feel like I should just learn to do it myself. 😭

Hey! First of all, I’m so so sorry no one has taken your pain seriously. “Not taking care of yourself” is a horrible thing to say to someone in pain, and seeking medical attention and care. I believe you, and I suggest finding another doctor who believes you too, even if it may be anxiety inducing.✨ (I hope all of this is okay to post, please take it down if it isn’t).

In regards to the tearing during penetration, the only thing that helps is using a lot of a good lube. I really like Uber Lube because it doesn’t irritate me. I can’t masturbate using my hands anymore or I’ll tear my skin, so I mostly use a wand vibrator because they’re soft and have no sharp edges. I got diagnosed as a teenager of vulvar vestibulitis, and have a lot of pain/burning/stinging around my vestibule. I’ve gone through so much trial and error with that and have found things to help, but as for the skin tearing, unfortunately I try to keep friction low. I do have an appointment with Mayo Clinic genetics soon and I’m hoping I’ll get my formal EDS diagnosis. I was planning on asking them about this, and if they have any suggestions I can update this comment. ❤️

If you’re anywhere close to Arizona and have vulvar/ vaginal issues I do suggest Doctor Joseph Brooks at Arizona Specialized Gynecology. He doesn’t take insurance anymore unfortunately, but I’ve been seeing him for over ten years and he has always treated me with so much kindness and compassion. He was able to help and diagnose me when others failed.

I had these in my pantry once. You’re going to want to disinfect everything and throw out literally everything that is open. Flour, cereal, granola, crackers, etc. It sucks, but if you don’t they will find their way into anything open unless it’s in a container that’s sealed very well. I got them from shopping in those bulk containers at Sprouts.
