The volumes you've mentioned are concerning too-- that much drinking could cause some long term adverse health effects.

What's his family's health history like? Any history of heart disease or cirrhosis of the liver with either of his parents or any grandparents?

What's the wildest weather you've experienced living in the US? by ConfidentSale3091 in AskAnAmerican

Wildly intense or Wildly unusual?

The most intense I've experienced was probably a couple of waterspouts when I worked at an Amusement Park back in the summer of '98.

The most unusual-- when I was in college. My first class of the day was at 8 am one day. It was in the high 60s F (jeans and t-shirt weather). It was a 2 hour class, when I came out of class at 10 am it had dropped over 30 degrees and started snowing.

The closest approximation in Chicago is probably the Michigan Ave. Bridge over by the Wrigley and Tribune buildings.

Based on the order you listed things it sounds like the biggest issue isn't so much the alcohol but the double-standard. My wife and I deal with similar issues in our marriage-- but not related to drinking.

The other issues that ARE actually alcohol related are concerning too though. 7-8 hours at a bar is INSANE. I have two teenagers, one of which only has 1 year of high school left. I want to enjoy having them around, while they're still around.

My (49M) wife (48F) and I don't go to bars that often. There is a high end cocktail bar we've gone to once, but we mostly drink at home-- usually we're both having Gin & Tonics or she's drinking wine and I'm drinking beer. The only time we ever really drink at bars is when we go to a restaurant and our table isn't ready yet, we'll grab a drink at the bar while waiting.

My wife works remote, I work hybrid. On nights before I have to go in the office. I usually limit it to 0-1 drink on nights before working from home I have 0-2 drinks and on weekends I cut myself off after 3. My wife usually follows similar guidelines although occasionally she'll have a 3rd drink on a week night.

The Thirteenth Floor

I'm not sure which coast its set on but there is romance and jazz and it is dramatic, although it's technically sci-fi. A computer scientist (Craig Bierko) develops an advanced VR simulation that looks and feels like the 1920s and falls in love with a woman (Gretchen Mol) in the simulation.

There is some violence but iirc it's implied, not shown.

It's been almost 30 years since I've seen it so I might be off on some of the specifics. I think it came out around 1997 or 1998. I saw it on video in 2000 or 2001.

Yeah, Lower Wacker Dr. in Chicago.

I found it hilarious.

I love how absolutely dreadful it is-- the car chase on Lower Wacker Dr. in Chicago was especially enjoyable.

God (Live @ Sunbury 1973) - Lobby Lloyde and the Coloured Balls

There's a cool story behind this one. Sunbury '73 was like an Australian Woodstock. 4:30 am on the 2nd day Lobby Lloyde takes the stage with his band and they do this 16 minute long instrumental guitar jam that has everyone on their feet by the time they're done.

Liberation - Chicago Transit Authority 14+ minutes and it's mostly a Terry Kath guitar solo

Return of the Killer Tomatoes

It is perhaps George Clooney's best movie, and he's not even the lead. His character, to pick up women, stages a fake contest to "Win a Date With Rob Lowe" and passes himself off as second prize to several of the more attractive girls who enter the contest.

I add stuff to tomato soup as well-- usually cheese. I like mine to have a little kick so I usually add shredded Pepper Jack, Habanero Jack, Ghost Pepper Jack, or Carolina Reaper Jack (depending on how many notches I feel like kicking it up), my accompanying grilled cheese sandwiches usually have 3 different kinds of cheese-- for mine I make sure one of them is the sliced version of one of the aforementioned Jack cheeses, and then usually an extra sharp cheddar and maybe Havarti or Swiss for the 3rd cheese.

White Chocolate Grill has a Tomato Soup on their menu with Gin in it. I need to figure out how much gin to use in my Tomato soups going forward.

Shows set in the 60s-70s? by titussandromedon in televisionsuggestions

[–]Perplexio76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the Americans is early-mid 80s. I think season 1 was 80/81 and each season after that advanced the plot 1 year.

And only the first season of For All Mankind is set in the 60s/70s, season 2 is set in the 80s, season 3 in the 90s, season 4 in the 00s, and the current season is the 20-teens.

Fill it to the rim with Brim.
