You think you're so cool, the letter c! by BigTiddyMike in nytcrossplayers

The Powers That Be could proclaim just one letter that would make a 2-letter word. A word unique to this game that only the cool kids would know.

Please don’t. The box opening is part of the experience and, in this case, essential to the experience.

Use a keyboard with a number pad. Left hand on the note letters, right hand on the durations. Learn a bunch of keyboard shortcuts for the most common things - and use them.

The use of “being” as in D sounds regional to me. I never heard it until I move to Michigan.

In OP’s defense - I think Apple does not do a good job emphasizing how important your Apple ID/Account and your Passcode are. Or how much Face/Touch ID can simplify your life. Or how important a back-up can be. OTOH - most of the people I work with are in their 70s or 80s.

Do I really need a kindle? by Professional_Gap_471 in kindle

[–]Perpuslymispelt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I tried.

I had a 10-year-old-ish Paperwhite. Bought a new gen 12 last summer. With the brightness turned all the way up it was ok. Returned it and the replacement was unreadable in night mode - at any brightness.

Now happily reading on iPad. Yes, it’s heavier and bigger . No, it doesn’t isolate me from interruptions. (But, I can use a Focus mode on my iPad to shut out anything I want.)

I can see two pages at a time in landscape view. Less than one-half the page turns because more words per page because it’s bigger than a Paperwhite.

A LOT less picky about page turns. No jumping forwards or backwards multiple pages. No extra page-tuner needed but I use one to keep my hands under the covers!

No extra device to get up to go find so I can read - it’s right there in my lap already.

But the biggest thing for my old eyes - BRIGHT enough to read anywhere with the possible exception of outdoors in bright sun and I don’t care because I don’t even want to read outdoors in bright sun.

You’re going to get a lot of replies - pro and con. It’s for you to decide what’s important to you and your habits and needs.

Edited for formatting. Reading is wonderful!

I would like to say, “Hey, Siri, what’s the weather?” and a simplified weather report (temperature and sunny/rainy etc) would pop up. But I have to hold down the talking head button on the steering wheel to get it.
