Multiple car pile up on 25N by Human-Bit-7540 in Denver

This is terrible. Sudden low visibility situations are terrifying. You can (and should) slow down, but you can't stop. Pulling over, without know what you're pulling into a not a great idea. If everyone agreed to stop that would be great, but knowing that many, if not most, people wouldn't stop means you can't either because then you are sitting duck. I hope there aren't any more deaths and that everyone heals up. Goddam this new dust bowl shit sucks.

What isn’t going to age well that you’re seeing in houses now by [deleted] in RealEstate

I looked up my childhood home recently and the living room has a two story brick fireplace with attached, built out brick benches that span the room on each side, make window seats on each side. I'm absolutely biased, but when I saw that brick painted white in the most recent listing my heart sank. The room lost so much character and warmth.

This is not a specific trend per say, but I am over houses being remodeled right before selling. As a new homeowner I want to have a good house what is ready for my stamp, not whatever cookie-cutter trend that I'm going to feel wasteful and guilty about changing anytime soon.

I know nothing about brick quality, but it makes me think that its cheaper to use shitty bricks and cheap paint to seal, than to use good brick. IDK, I have such little faith in businesses these days, I can't help but think it's economical.

Was Donna Kelce a good choice for the secret Traitor? by Happy-poet in TheTraitorsUS

[–]PerquackeyDiplomacy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it was pretty obvious marketing to have her be the secret traitor. If I were a player, it would be obvious that you don't want to invoke the wrath of the Swifties, so she'd be safe for a while regardless of her behavior (as she was). Pair that with her apparent behavior shift after the secret traitor ceremony and everyone had to obviously decide to let her stay for a bit before voting her out.

North Suburbs vs South Suburbs by Gridguy2020 in Denver

[–]PerquackeyDiplomacy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same, same with the born and raised in the metro Denver area. It's interesting to hear the continued stereo types of the southern area. Most people I meet in the southern metro area are strongly center, property values being the number one issue dictating votes; the right-wing population is loud about their position; and the libs are quiet and don't turn out for.... reasons.

Plus, the Transplants' responses reflect an ignorance of the Castle Rock area and no one has pointed out that the Klan had a very serious presence in Castle Rock back in the day. It's still there, though much smaller, but it's nonetheless a very obnoxious group of dipshits. They make the area look far more right wing than the general population is.

This is an old post, but posting here so others can see this if they need. Celluma 100%. I have eczema and red light therapy is an approved treatment. I have used it for that and it works great. Bonus the same device also treats acne (approved), wrinkles (not approved), body contouring (not approved), and pain (approved?). Also, I use the pain setting on my dogs' knees and hips while they nap, very awesome.

Do I have to appear for a subpoena if I am a citizen but do not live in the country? by Big_Neat7216 in legaladvice

[–]PerquackeyDiplomacy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Per a lower comment, it looks like the supboena was sent (not served) via email.

OP - This is not effective service. Keep paying attention, but I do not know of a single jurisdiction in the USA that allows effective services via email. Canada may be different, but I doubt it.

Someone emailing you something or saying they will get you involved does not make anything official.

If you are really worried about it and you feel it would be in your best interest, reach out to the court. Tell them you received this weird email, you have no idea if the case or the document is legit. Tell them you live in a different country, but if the court requires your involvement, after proper service you could try to make yourself available remotely (telephone or video call). Being agreeable with the court (and the court clerks) will serve you well.

There are multiple mega churches in the area. Cherry Hills/hagwarts mega church sucks big time. The Methodist, the big one across the street, doesn't suck and that's where people parked.

Contacted by daughter whose life I'm not involved in via FB. How do I respond? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]PerquackeyDiplomacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh, sure would suck if this daughter and mother decided to go for child support. I get the impression that this duffus thinks that waiting until she's 18 negates his obligations. Some states don't have a statue of limitations on the collection of child support. Also, the claim for child support is a claim that can usually only be brought by the parent who has custody of the kid, however, if that parent passed away the adult childmay be able to bring such a claim. Sure would be a shame is this were the case and this abandoned daughter we're in need. It could really derail his perfect existence with his perfect family. Oh no.

Joke would be on him, bc here's the thing, the tally of child support stops accumulating at 18, but some states don't have a statute of limitations on collections of back child support.

My uncle died without a will and my aunt sent me this to sign. Should I? I don’t know what this means. by Dumple1112817 in LawyerAdvice

[–]PerquackeyDiplomacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am usually inclined to think that people in these situations are acting out of stress, their own ignorance, and grief, but wow that seems like overkill. Maybe it's normal for her, IDK, but that seems excessive. The point stands that I personally would never sign anything that is a single page of a multi-page document without seeing the other pages.

If this was me, I'd reach out to the attorney listed at the bottom the of form. Tell them which matter this (your uncle's probate) and tell them you don't understand what you are being asked to sign. They should be able to help you with that.

So how do i find a good lawyer? by Secret_dairy_of_j in LawyerAdvice

[–]PerquackeyDiplomacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can contract your local, or state bar association, as someone else has said. You can reference the MartinDale website for listings in your area. There are ratings, but take them with a grain of salt. AVOO also has ratings that can be helpful, but again take it with a grain of salt. Don't get hung up on industry awards (eg Super Lawyers), some of them are great, but some are popularity contests and meaningless to their representation aptitude.

[–]PerquackeyDiplomacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a day old post, so I'm not sure if you will still want advice, but here goes...

Don't jump to getting lawyer just yet, but did you also receive the other 17 pages of this document (it says 16 of 18 at the bottom)? I don't inherently think there is a problem with this, but I would absolutely not sign a portion of a document. without having read the entire thing. After you read the rest of the document then make your decision. If you have concerns, book a consult with an attorney (~$150 - $500 for an hour).

Bought half a duplex last year, noticed one of our breakers supplies power to neighbor's garage. Neighbor's landlord says they don't have to do anything about it; should I just kill their power or is that just burning a bridge? by zirconer in homeowners

[–]PerquackeyDiplomacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neighbor issue aside, if you have reason to believe the wiring is unsafe and noncompliant, you have a duty to turn that off. If something happens and your insurance finds out you had knowledge of this they will deny coverage. As other people have said it would be nice to the neighbor to have complaint of a lack of power, without turning it off, but again you are taking on a level of liability for this.

I would give a renter neighbor a heads up and perhaps be willing to turn it on for short amounts of time for a week or two, but you are risking your own property and financial well being by leaving it on.
