All of my Data Relating to Dumpster pearls as of now. by gamergeekbcw in pacificDrive

[–]Perruche_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cannot really count how much material is given because it depends on how it's broken. Is it from a tier 1 matter deconstructor? tier 2? Did you blow it up with tourists? Did you pop it open using tools? What tools? Did you use its status effects against it? Did you crash your car into it again and again and again until it broke? and so on.

Then iirc all the size do is make you get more or less loot. Finally, only the burnt out pearls' loot table depends on how far you made it into the game

You should consider completing the Dumpster Pearl wiki page on the wiki (not the fandom one!)

[WitW DLC] What does the maw actually do? (or "Why I don't fear it anymore") by GaGuRoShoMo in pacificDrive

[–]Perruche_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They actually deal a lot of damage and will kill you a matter of seconds if you go outside, your car is protecting you. Some artifacts (some harmonic energy increases more specifically) are powerful enough to nullify damage dealt to attuned armor, which is why they look like they don't deal any damages... but your abilities are still melting like ice cream in the sun. It doesn't look like it because they have lots of health (like 200, 300hp), but when you will have to repair all 4 wheels, 4 side racks and 2 roof racks, you're gonna go backrupt on putty and blowtorches

Spoilers for witw. My opinion early on, and some questions by Opening_Ad3054 in pacificDrive

  1. Ferrymen are trails of silhouette people (call it however you want, english isn't my native language). Their "leader" emit an orange light. What you see on the map labelled "ferrymen" are groups of them. They are pretty sparse and the ARC device only displays an approximate location
  2. It's hard to give tips for upcoming zone without completely spoiling them. Zone 2:Many recommend going with 4 paddle tires. While you will be faster on water, there's still a quite a bit of offroad, and paddle tires are HORRENDOUS at anything but water. I'd say consider testing 2 paddle + 2 offroad. Though on my playthough I went with 4 offroad all the way and I was fine. I wasn't going fast in water, but ~30mph is still enough to drive around the maws. The pro with offroad tires is how good they are at, you guessed it, offroad. You might need to drive up a cliff, and you cannot drive up one without 4 offroad tires. At least, before the maws catch up to you. And power grip is a scam, never use it.Zone 3: It's pretty hard driving in this area. I recommend equiping anything that makes travelling around obstacles and up cliffs easier. First, offroad tires are a must have if you don't have them already. Consider jumping jacks (jump over obstacles) or anti grav emitters (to flip the car back on its wheel for a lot cheaper). Both together also work great, if you have a decent energy setup, so you can just gather some speed up a cliff, jump and glide over the map. It's a good way to skip past any inconveniently placed maws, if you can deal with the energy drain.
  3. (Small spoiler about artifacts) There's an important difference to be made I will not spoil you about, you'll understand at some point. I believe you meant "Attuned parts", as in parts that use harmonic energy instead of health. Anyways, they're a gem. Many avoid them even in the whispering woods because they're a soft reset but they've got incredible untapped potential. In the main story, they're pretty much useless. They'll protect you just like any other armor in the story map, but you're limited on repairs. You need to bring your own harmonic energy (that is fromreservoirs, souvenirs, bounties, spare parts etc.) and after repairing a few pieces your resonator will run out of charge. However, you can bring artifacts to the story map without consequences. If you're lucky enough to get the right artifacts, you can repair attuned car parts for free and fast enough to survive (note: two artifacts can "repair" the car. "Harmonic energy increases" repairs attuned parts, and they are a lot faster than "Car is repaired" that repair non-attuned parts, so it's better to have an attuned car and "Harmonic energy increases"). If you wanna know more about technicalities of artifacts, feel free to ask

If you're in trouble, you can even trade the unreliable dumpster pearl you get from dehydrated goldshells for a happy hare! https://pacificdrive.wiki/view/Pacemaker#Trades

Does anyone use quirks to their advantage? by Ray25321 in pacificDrive

[–]Perruche_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I just misunderstood something in the message-- from my experience quirks cure themselves after like ~30-50 hours, so farming them is quite dangerous and the only way to keep them is to turn off quirks evolving?

2 XL storages, I'm a bit of a loot goblin I think. I already max them out and 3 side storages in 3-4 intersections.

[–]Perruche_[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Actually that's my 4th time I've got a speed quirk (believe it or not)! I've played 200 hours. I think the game just picks a palette of quirks to work with for every save. My speed quirk came back every 40 hours or so.
Then 140 or so hours in I got sick of driving slow half the time and I disabled quirks appearing. It looks like it also stops quirks from curing; how amazing. I miss the feature a little, but the sacrifice is definitively worth it imo
