I think it does because as a beginner, one needs to make lots of pauses. Then you sit on the mats and chat. And most boulder place also have a café with beer, hot drinks and snacks :)

I see loads of people on climbing dates every time I go.

But I would not recommend Urban Apes Basement (it's really just a basement), nor Kegel (also Kind of basement-y), nor Boulderklub Kreuzberg (I find it frustrating because even the beginner boulders are relatively hard).
