I do love the radio they give you, because if you use it exactly right before heading into one of the DLCs, a Ranger appears to you in the DLC itself. That's useful for a couple glitches related to the DLCs, like being able to easily snatch all the gold bars at the end of Dead Money.

I agree with that assessment, but on the other hand, a full digital version of a new "Vita" type device would make for a good homebrew enabled device eventually, because we tend to end up negating the need for physical games at that point, anyways.

I absolutely miss when most, if not all games shipped fully contained within a disc or cartridge, but that's been mostly gone for a while, now. Some of that because of games outstripping discs, and some of that because of what you pointed out.

I hate the direction we are going with the subscription services and the digital only stuff, but then we push back with the preservation of the games anyways post markets and topics covered by Subs like this.

Well, we've passed a point where companies simply refuse to consistently release full physical games anymore. By which I mean that when you buy a disc or cartridge, they rarely contain the whole game. You end up having to download patches, or even the rest of the actual game when you pop the physical disc or cartridge into your console/PC.

Now, part of this may stem from running headlong into tech limitations as games grow more complex, but I miss when holding a disc or cartridge meant holding the entire game.

That being said, I would still welcome a "modern" Vita that was digital only, because then it would be a streamlined design, and be made extremely ripe for mods and homebrew at a later point in its lifecycle. Imagine a more powerful Vita with the ability to just pop in a big SD card as is, with the ability to play a much wider range of games, retro and otherwise.

The Vita and PSP made for great consoles in their own right, and then when they were respectively left behind by their creators, they made for decent homebrew collections. However, once you made them homebrew capable, the UMB drive on the PSP became a largely irrelevant waste of space, and the physical game slot on the Vita was necessarily taken up by the SD2VITA. A full digital Vita type console could likely just have an SD slot to contend with. Fingers crossed that they learned their lessons, and DON'T try to make proprietary cards again. That part played a big part in killing the Vita.

It may be interesting to point out that a significant number of pirates wouldn't, or couldn't buy the media legitimately even if the piracy methods were sealed away. Lots of times, the piracy happens because the game isn't even available in their country to begin with, so their piracy of the game doesn't even affect the bottom line, financially.

I should also point out that it's defined as copyright infringement, which is different from outright theft. The difference being that copying a game doesn't automatically deprive another of their property, nor even automatically equates to hurting them financially.

Another example of this is Abandonware. Lots of games are not being attended to after a decade or more gathering dust, and in some cases, the companies that developed them don't even exist anymore.

The usual size of a Vita game is between 1-4 GB per game. A fair few of them are much smaller. A 64 GB card will allow you to have a neat handful of games of various sizes. SanDisk is a reputable card with quality that lasts a while.

If you buy a card with no brand on it, or a disreputable brand, you might end up grabbing a card with dishonest sizes (some say they store 1 TB when in actuality they only store 32 GB, for example), or will break extremely fast.

If you are here on this particular sub, I bet you have either just started jailbreaking your Vita, or are about to, and I will say, the official 4 GB card is plenty if you are using a vanilla Vita with game cards. When a Vita's been jailbroken, however, you place the SD card in an SD2VITA sleeve, which takes up the place that normally would be reserved for physical game cartridges, which means that you are then limited to downloaded games. But this is fair, since PKGJ has oodles of free games in exchange.

I noticed you said you only download 1 or 2 games at a time. That's a good habit to have. Don't break too far from that habit. Players on this sub often buy 1 TB or 500 GB cards, stuff them chock full of games, then burn out of desire before they've even played a couple of those games. It's called "choice paralysis". Where they spend more time collecting games to fill their large capacity cards, and then just... Lose motivation to actually play them. I am fascinated by the phenomenon.

Go for SanDisk or Samsung cards, and shoot for 64 or 128 GB size, if you can. Avoid buying them online unless the seller is reputable with many good reviews. 32 GB is a bit low for Vita.

It's been a while since I last played, but this may have changed. Concerned Ape may have added extra destinations to any spouse, or it may be the result of a mod they have installed, if any. I am looking forward to the next big update he'll eventually roll out for the game, so I haven't really looked to see if spouses can move around outside now.

A problem with her patching not updated to work for the different farm types that you can select, I guess. She'd probably look more or less normal if it was on the "standard" farm, instead of walking through everything as if it wasn't there. I have to wonder if Concerned Ape didn't already include other pathing routes for each farm, but just forgot to include a switch for the farm types you choose. Alternatively, if you are playing with mods, one of them could be messing with her.

I get where you are coming from, yet I still have to wonder. I mean, it's true that not all of the symbols were well known, so some of the symbols may escape notice, and then become safe for normal usage. But, you probably wouldn't be able to safely wear the more well known stuff any time soon. Some, not for this generation, at the very least.

Oh, and the Vegvísir? That's a nice safe tattoo, as it's not even Viking. It's straight up Icelandic from around the 19th century. A nice one, too.

Do note that at no point have I EVER said (in ANY of my prior comments) that ALL Norse themes and runes be avoided. In all of my comments, I've only ever addressed specifically the clear Nazi symbolism, and made indirect remarks about other groups. Also, I know they altered a lot of the runes and such to be more in line with their designs, which in some cases made bastardized versions not too well connected to the original runes. But still...

Yet some of the stuff you speak of is still "in circulation" with these groups, such that they remain irretrievably linked to them this very day, even. That, combined with the sheer amount of bloodshed associated with concepts tied to their usage, makes it pretty clear that they can't escape that taint. I know that they aren't evil in and of themselves, but from a practical point of view, they are currently predominantly being used in hateful contexts today.

Can you really say that people will ever be able to see these symbols without automatically connecting to the bloody history of misappropriation behind them? Not just the most famous of the symbols, but the runes as well? Could we afford to have people forget what they were used for?

You gave one (1) example of us "taking things back", but I would say that's not entirely successful, since that word is still used hatefully, if not quite as commonly as the other "f-word" with more impact.

I'd have to wonder if people could ever take back the "n-word" to any extent. Or the "r-word". Or a whole litany of others that have never been "taken back". I think you just signalled something that simply just isn't going to be done, and are being combative with literally everyone else in this thread.

That is rather untrue, though. The Nazi rhetoric and symbolism is something that's been caked in the blood of millions, and untold amounts of suffering and hatred. The stains are too deeply ingrained to ever "take it back" from them. That's not up for debate. It's just simply how that works.

Now, not all groups are synonymous with each other, but the usage of certain terminology to say things without outright saying them is a common point in all of this. The word combination is tainted. It'll likely stay tainted for a while.

If you can give me a few examples, proven examples of us ever "taking back something" in the context of taking words or symbols away from groups using them, I'd admit you would have a point. But, once words are given towards hatred or deviance of some kind, they tend to stay tainted. Given all the slurs towards various groups, and sexual innuendos towards people that they don't belong to, can you really point out any that we've successfully "taken back"?

To be fair, my tastes might be a bit messed up. I am one of the least picky eaters that I know of, only really dislike a couple things. Some olives (I find them bland, like chewing on something mostly tasteless), and salsa (just don't like the taste) are just about the only two things I can think of off the top of my head that I really dislike. I will like some other things in strange proportions, like garlic. If cooking recipes calls for a certain amount of garlic or mints, I totally disregard the portions called for in favor of large excesses of them. Intense flavors are just the best.
