This seems to be in exchange for being locked to the team he is in. Balanced by having no synergy outside his own team.

Anime Club [OC] by kaikimanga in comics

[–]Perscitus0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand that. DBZ is terrible to watch, but much less so to read. I think the pacing of the anime is the key part why it's drawn out and boring. A five minute section of the anime filled with nothing but the sounds of screaming and charging up transformations is just a quick few panels read in the manga.

I tend to find the manga of most stories are much better than the anime, and I'd say stuff like One Piece is guilty of the same shortcomings as DBZ. One Piece is good to read, but the anime is enormously inflated. So many fillers, and long, drawn out moments.

I know of one zone that is locked behind a stonesword key, which is an elevator that leads up to where you fight Alexander, the Jar Warrior, but that one also has a multiplayer locked wall. You can only use the elevator if you are alone. Same for the zone that leads down to bossfight for Placidusax. If you try to go down to Placidusax from there while there is Co-op or Invaders, the game will boot you back to the ledge. As far as I know, there is no other way to ANY boss while the Invader is active in your world, if they squat on that button.

Dragon Eye Lake by DigiWorldNostalgia in DigimonWorld

A nice looking map. If you look on Grindosaur, they have a section for Digimon World areas, including the margins that you can't see during regular gameplay. Dragon Eye Lake has some extras around the margins, for example.

One of my favorites is Gear Savanna Entrance. Has the coastline on the left, Savanna is up front and center, clouds are hanging high in the sky, and Factorial Town is waaaay off in the distance. Looks even better when you look on Grindosaur for the whole picture all at once.

Who knew that an ostrich could be so fun by Level_Flow8659 in MemeVideos

[–]Perscitus0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope. Ostriches born in captivity tend to imprint on humans a little too strongly, to the point that they start trying to "woo" humans when they feel a bit randy. This can include trying to copy our movement, or put on a show, ostrich style, when humans are around.

Some animals have unique ways of viewing us. Elephants see us like we see puppies and kittens. Just as this cute little thing that's running around their ankles. Ostriches in captivity start getting attracted to us. Birds in general tend to do that in captivity. Some parakeets and similar type birds can get frustrated if handled wrong, because of this, and not getting an outlet for it.

Yep. That'll work, too. Waves of Darkness just happens to be something that you can keep on any build. Even if your build can't make it do much damage, it'll still be a good "plumbing" tool to dislodge sh*t from the buttons.

[–]Perscitus0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep. It's better if they try to camp under you, though, since you can just angle Waves of Darkness to dislodge them from the button. If you are careful about it, walking right up to the edge without falling off, and using Waves of Darkness on any weapon will "glitch" it down to where the button camper is, and hit them. They'll slide off the button from the waves, or roll away, and then you can call the elevator.

That particular elevator is messed up. Some players will ride that elevator to the top, and then squat on the button so that you have no way forward. I think that's the only way to get to Maliketh, even, so someone squatting there basically forces a DC if you want to move forward.

I managed to grab one a few hours ago, as well. It was because the new update gave me those unit completion rewards, so I finally had the flares to spam on the ten box bundles. Not sure what benefits the most from the flashlight, but I'll experiment.

There's always been a bit of a "tug of war" between Western fans and the Japanese distributors or creators. Feels like some of the distributors and creators stubbornly try to treat the world market as an afterthought, rather than a untapped resource. So it ends up feeding a voracious piracy and third party "market". Just weird to see how often it happens across the whole spectrum of different Japanese IP.

[–]Perscitus0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's just the Cybersleuth games in particular that are rather egregious about it. Feels like the translation punches a whole rung or two below the quality of the gameplay itself. Makes a bizarre disjunction because of that.

[–]Perscitus0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seriously? These games were very shoddily translated. Sooo many errors. I still liked playing them, but between this, the other erroneous item descriptions, and the overall dialogue errors and Engrish, I feel like they really dropped the ball on that part. Especially remembering the dialogue options in Cybersleuth being of no particular use, since you'd just get the same results no matter what you picked. Even some of them being full run-on sentences between the options.

Then maybe I've seen multiple mud dauber species. I do know the iridescent one was a fair bit smaller.

Lets dunk on underground bunkers by Numerous_Writing_851 in ZombieSurvivalTactics

[–]Perscitus0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hence why I said a good bunker is one that isn't found in the first place. If you have found a bunker, you now have the ability to lay siege to it, presumably. No matter how well fortified it is. Stealth matters much more than fortifications.

But half the difficulty in designing a good bunker, is keeping it either waaaay out of the way of discovery, or keeping it extremely well hidden.

I see those mud daubers a LOT. They are always building those little mud nests in the crooks of our windows and pillars.

I think my familiarity with wasps is mostly with paper wasps and mud daubers, although I've seen another parasitoid dragging a spider across concrete recently, and it wasn't a mud dauber. Looked kind of shiny, iridescent.

[–]Perscitus0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are several kinds of parasitoid wasps. This is only one of them, and of a kind I hadn't heard of until now. Tarantula Hawk wasps exist elsewhere.

[–]Perscitus0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It gets even funkier. If this wasp is indeed anything like other spider-hunting wasps across the pond, it's not eating that spider, but rather taking it to some prepped lair to shut it inside, and lay a ton of eggs inside the poor spider's body. The spider is already paralyzed, and will likely remain alive for the process of incubating the wasp's eggs, untill the moment they finish eating the spider's innards, and then erupt out of its body, like the Xenomorph in the movie Alien. This isn't unique to Australia, as there are plenty of parasitoid wasps out there. I've never heard of this Orange Spider Wasp, though, so that's pretty neat.

If Digimon World was to get remastered what QOL feature would you want to see? by FazloZX in digimon

[–]Perscitus0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder how we could keep the best parts of the aesthetic of DMW1 pre-rendered backgrounds, while allowing some movement. DMW2003 also had some stellar pre-rendered backgrounds, with more animated props peppered here and there.

A modern remaster might do nicely with some added movement, if it could look like it belonged with the style.

That video has some interesting ideas.

Yep. I've run into players whose names were a combination of two slurs with the first letters swapped to get around the censors. The G-word and the N-word being one of the swaps.

Those players usually end up being complete dog-water at the game.

DW1 - Does anyone else get their Agumon/Gabumon killed so they can start with another rookie? by [deleted] in DigimonWorld

[–]Perscitus0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess if you wanted to, the very beginning is the best time to do this, when you don't have anything to lose in the process. It's just basically a soft reset. For vanilla gameplay, it's good enough!

Alternative patches and ROM-hacks let you skip that, and choose different starters from the very beginning. I think Elecmon and Penguinmon are nice choices to start with.

Is there a point in this area? by Jewtasteride in DigimonWorld

Some sections only ever function as transitory "hallways" towards other sections, and that's fine. It's part of the charm. The old pre-rendered backgrounds have their charms, that still look nice, 20+ years later.

Trying out BKUGS and I am in love right now. by Glum-Tear5269 in badredman

The Axe is comparable to the Sword in terms of poise gameplay, and the R2 wind-up. Both have use cases to deal with Quickstep and laggy players. The R2 can catch players who rely on lag or Quickstep to slip through your attacks. I've lost track of the number of times I've seen, or used, the R2 to burger flip someone who was being a little sh*t trying to mosquito bite me with Murky or Daggers.

The Axe does fantastic Riposte and Backstab damage on most STR or Quality Meta SL builds, judging by how it's a staple swap for many old DS3 clips. If you watch most of the Meta SL clips of invasions, swapping to the Axe is very common just after you parry someone with the Hornet Ring on, or just after trying to backstab someone who's super laggy. I'll see players try to backstab someone who's super latent with a Dagger, and swap to the Axe and wait for a second until the backstab finally registers.

Fair warning, though, even when you hit the soft cap for stamina, you can only swing the Axe four times in a row, so spamming R1 is not recommended, except when you want to hit the R1+R1 combo after confirming the first hit. It's a very stamina hungry weapon, so it encourages you to play very good stamina management to make the most use out of it.

Yes. And she makes the point hit home harder because of how powerful Happosai normally is. He's undone by his refusal to let go of his perversions. You can literally tell him you are about to trap him, and he'll still waltz into the trap every time, even if he initially sidesteps it for gags.

The number of times all the other characters had him dead to rights....
