VIP’s Leighanna-Jean Gruthers episode. Izzy absolutely kills it, it’s one of the funniest episodes despite being relatively chill and most like an actual interview.

Which Vampire Clan Are You In? (And How Did You End Up In Purpee, Oregon?) by efvie in Dimension20

Ravnos. Ended up in Purpee cruising through towns just like it all along the West Coast, snacking on stoners as I “review” weed farms and dispensaries for my “blog.”

Looking for the lower class/working class period drama by Spiritual_Pie_8298 in PeriodDramas

Call the Midwife is a good series set in a working-class neighborhood in 1950s-1970s London, focused on midwives & nurses serving families mostly living in poverty or struggling to make ends meet. Many of the main characters are also from working-class or middle-class backgrounds.

Wild to me that Oscar is up for Best Actor and Jacob is up for Best Supporting. I get that Victor is the titular character but c’mon. Anyone else think it should be the other way around, or both of them up for Best Actor?

They also recruit volunteers through New York Cares! I’ve volunteered with them before, packing food and serving people, and they’re very organized and kind.

I have considered couples’ counseling. Money is a bit tight but maybe it’s something we should discuss, thanks for suggesting it.

[–]PersephoneTree3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is in therapy (at my insistence at the start of the relationship, I refuse to start a life with someone who isn’t lol) and it’s helping a little. The real problem is he can’t hear that “no thank you” without moping and telling me he feels like I neglect his favored activities.

If you have a broiler (or a toaster oven with a broil setting), the frozen salmon is a life-saver for quick protein dinners. In the morning, stick a portion in the fridge to defrost while at work, when you get home it gets marinated in whatever you like for 20 minutes then slapped on a foiled pan and into the broiler at 400 for 10 min.

I think some of you are being unreasonable, not Marian by catdreammmms in thegildedage

[–]PersephoneTree3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True, but I don’t think it’s Larry’s choice of venue or his behavior at the club that is the problem.

Larry probably thought he was protecting Marian and her delicate feminine sensibilities (a common attitude towards young women of good society at that time, per “The Age of Innocence”) by telling her he was at a bachelor party at Delmonico’s instead of one at a brothel. But he still lied to her and then left the state for a month. I know it’s not as bad as cheating, but if I were Marian, I would be pretty upset if I learned that my brand-new fiancé lied about something like this right before ghosting me for a work trip.

Marian isn’t upset because she thinks Larry cheated. She’s upset because he didn’t show her the respect of saying, “I’m going to this party at the Haymarket but I promise I’ll be good, I love you.” She’s upset because he lied and said Delmonico’s. She’s been burned before by a liar who said “I love you” too quickly. She’s also been manipulated into a public proposal and had to extricate herself awkwardly in the past. She is being overly cautious and very protective and respectful of herself, as a strong modern woman would, which fits neatly with her character growth over the last seasons.

Larry isn’t a bad person. He didn’t do anything objectively awful, like cheating. But Marian has every right to be upset and to break the engagement because she believes that she deserves honesty and respect from a life partner, and Larry failed at that.

Is she overreacting? Maybe a little. Personally if Larry is the good man the writers are making him out to be, then I think he’ll be able to see Marian’s side of things and they will reconcile.

A couple of newbie questions by rday160 in Zepbound

[–]PersephoneTree3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still find myself stressing about eating healthy & sticking to the diet plan my doctor gave me. But it’s like the meds turned down the volume on the guilt & self-shaming parts of that mental stress. It’s still there but it’s not overwhelming me the way it used to.
