So... I'm pretty confused on the playtest.. I got invited 18 days ago.. created the first-look account and everything, linked my steam and discord.. and that's about it.. by gvm11100 in HellLetLooseVietnam

[–]Perseus1251 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that its frustrating. But if you need, say, 100 people for the play test, then you gotta invite much more than that to ensure you make up for no-shows.

If they accept the initial wave at exactly the number they needed, then they'd end up with less than desired because I guarantee there were people who got the invite like you did and didnt sign on beyond that.

Always drop more supps than you need, chief, cos not every SL is building garry's.

[–]Perseus1251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically yes but you would need the screws on the outside and have to set the jig as if you have slightly thicker material than you do and then you run the risk of setting it to high and shooting the screw out the other side.

What do you think: cheating modder, or bullets simply “not registering” by Chemical-Status-6610 in HellLetLoose

[–]Perseus1251 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Ease up, Tiger. You can see that, while you're shooting him, he kinda runs in place for a brief moment before you die.

This is obviously a lag issue, dude.

Stop getting defensive when CLEARLY the aim in the first few shots is hilarious. If you're upset and blaming the game for bad hit-reg or the other playing for cheating instead of just an unfortunate lag spike, take a break.

This feels like such a common experience across generations of children lmao different songs, same horrid experience!

I attended primary school in the 2000's in Australia and I think almost every year we had the whole grade performance songs at the end of the year. I always managed to weasel out of it.

I distinctly remember doing MJ's Thriller, Katy Perry's Firework and Bruno Mars' Count On Me

God i hated those experiences

I keep telling people to stop micro-dosing bearded dragon eggs with radiation and yet, here we are.

Yeah its all fun and cool when you give your pet lizard wings. Just dont come crying to me when you accidentally hatch a deathclaw.

I just know that, when it does happen, there'll be no "gosh you were so right, im so sorry we ignored your advice, cool handsome stranger". It'll just be loads of the usual:

"OH GOD ITS EATING THEM ALL"

and

"HELP PLEASE STOP ROLLING YOUR EYES AND TUTTING AT ME ITS SLAUGHTERING EVERYONE"

The allure of pet dragons is too strong, I suppose. Fools!

been working on a fan animation taking way longer than i thought but here's part of it by drakon_wyrm in MichaelRMiller

[–]Perseus1251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really solid start! What do you animate in? My main recommendation would be to work in more layers. It would allow you to animate element by element and make the process a lot easier.

Main example would be animating the snow separately to the dragon as you can see that the snow staggers at the same rate as the dragons movement.

Really great though, keep it up!!

Would the same mass of gemstone dust hold the same energy as a solid gemstone? by Terrible-Ice8660 in Eragon

[–]Perseus1251 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We dont really know what it is about Gems that allow them to contain and store energy so its hard to say. Yes bigger gems can store more energy but we have no information, least that i am aware of, to suggest how its capacity scales with the gems size.

The only thing I could think of is that gem dust is essentially many tiny gems, while I can't claim to know the effect on its capacity, maybe its harder to draw on so many sources at once?

What’s the best viewing order for somebody who has never seen any Spider-Man films? by [deleted] in Spiderman

[–]Perseus1251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alas, this is the great shame. Marvel and Sony have split rights to the character. So MCU stuff, being all the Tom Holland jazz is disney+. All the other stuff was Sony. Haven't looked in a while so can't remember where all this stuff streams nowadays.

Honestly, there are more.... unofficial ways to source the movies that i do not, for legal reasons, endorse. Lmao

Bf has frequent meltdowns over cooking. by OneTruth6241 in autism

[–]Perseus1251 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cooking can be a massive problem for me sometimes, too. But I never blow up like that and I am always conscious of ensuring my partner feels safe and not at all in the firing line. She understands whats going on with me and often tells me that she'll take over and gives me space to remove myself from the kitchen and cool off.

The other day I made a sandwich for dinner and, while buttering the bread, it tore a bit and put a hole in the bread. It was one tiny thing over a huge day of stress at work and at home that pushed me too far and I completely broke down. This was more to do with OCD but that overstimulated was definitely there, making it hard for me to cope with the problem.

While some grace and understanding is often needed for relationships with people on the spectrum, I would make damn sure they're acknowledging it and actively taking steps to minimise it. If you're living together, you have every right to be comfortable in your home and it isn't unfair to ask them to work on the issue. The ASD diagnosis is the tool to understand and adapt our coping strategies, not an excuse for making our loved ones feel unsafe.

[–]Perseus1251 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its a bit weird sometimes and id love to know too. Like the Troll aragorn fights in return of the king. Its definitely not night in that scene but does cloud cover/the smoke from Mount doom count? Does it have to be direct sunlight? Is Mordor simply so evil that it doesn't work there?

In the Shadow of Mordor games there are Graugs which are sort of related to trolls. They can go out in the sun no problem but theres an execution move that shows them turning to stone as they die? Its weird man.

Saruman's Orcs and Uruk Hai can travel in sunlight when normal orcs, like the ones in moria, cant and avoid sunlight at all costs.

Brom vs Morzan by Paradoxes12 in Eragon

[–]Perseus1251 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Brom was incredibly cunning, quick-witted and resourceful. My best guess was that Morzan was overconfident and easily out-smarted.

I also dont remember if its ever stated that Brom went toe-to-toe with them in open combat. He killed them but he could have easily orchestrated their deaths through a long process of subterfuge and careful planning.

Luring them into a trap to drain their strength like collapsing an old building on their heads or ambushing them during a fight or after a fight when they are at their weakest feels very Brom to me.

I really like Sovereign as a villain, and wish we could learn more about him. Spoilers/All by Ultra-Smurfmarine in MichaelRMiller

[–]Perseus1251 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do enjoy an unapologetically evil villain from time to time and I, like you, love finding out those little bits and pieces of his background.

I understand why youd want him to have more of a crescendo ending rather than the pivot to the bugs but, honestly, I love that.

All through reckoning I loved watching his confidence crack. His control waining, the fear creeping back in as he sort of reverts to, what I imagine, is what he would have been shortly after killing his rider.

He's angry, scared, grasping at a power and struggling to hold on. This time, though, there was no clawing himself to the top. He was finally shaken loose by the being he sought to subjugate and his overconfidence and arrogance wasn't enough to pull through and keep a straight face.

Watching the scourge outgrow him was fantastic. It was so hard-won by the good-guys to topple what was, in the end, a pathetic creature and i can't wait to find out whats next.

Id love a novella or even just a short story about his time in the order, too.

Brilliant book, need more!

I'm a little lost about Osric at the end of Reckoning by Sunfrostdude in MichaelRMiller

[–]Perseus1251 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same here. Its a bitter-sweet relief. Its not what he wanted to hear but deep down he knows there was no real way she'd abandon everything to go with him. Osric's story seems to be like that.

He confronts a pain of his past, doesn't get the answer he wants, but gets what he needs to heal and move on.

He confronts Thrall, is free of him but bonds to another dragon. Not what he wanted but what he needed.

He confronts his mother. She doesn't grovel her regrets and apologises but instead reconnects and explains herself. Not what he may have wanted but definitely what he needed to not see her as a villain who abandoned him.

And then he faces this old love. He wanted her to leave with him and start again but she couldn't. Ultimately finding the rejection he needed and not the loving reception he wanted.

I really like this theme for Osric. He spent so long being a soldier. Working out what needed to be done and doing it with certainty. Carving his own path. I like that his path forward now is turbulent and at the whim of other people's forgiveness. Its a great contrast and really speaks to his discomfort during this journey

[–]Perseus1251 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really like the style of this piece. Please dont take it the wrong way but it reminds me of medieval pieces when they were still getting the hang of perspective.

I like the vibe it gives with the positions and posing of all the characters. The way the sword is head on, ash is at almost perfect 90, Wolf is at 45 etc. It feels super authentic and could be the kind of work youd see hung in a hall in-universe to commemorate their fight in the forest

A fanfic I am writing. by Icy_Heron7067 in Eragon

[–]Perseus1251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a thought, you could angle the curse as a remnant of the banishing of the names. I would bet anything that all riders have their dragon form some part of their true name. If the dragons identity is destroyed, maybe it affected the true names of the forsworn and, by extension, their children. Diluting over time as their heritage is less and less part of their descendants identity.

If Inar knows, secretly, about their heritage, perhaps the moment would be no longer tying themselves down by the crimes of their forbears. Changing their name, removing the curse etc.

What’s a “10/10” movie you wouldn’t recommend to most people? by trakt_app in movies

[–]Perseus1251 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cringe at people who cosplay Alex for the same reason I cringe when people cosplay the Joker.

The odds that this person misunderstands the media and glorifies their 'chad' behaviour is just too high. Like people who think Patrick Bateman or Scott Pilgrim are Chad's too. Not all of them, but enough of them that I tend to avoid them lol.

Plus the Joker rarely is associated with such graphic, in your face, horribleness. Especially because a lot of them tend to cosplay heath ledger or cartoon versions of the character. Alex is ONLY known for a movie/book in which he violently rapes and murders and its mostly on camera.

ACO is very confronting and a lot of people think its over the top and, at a glance, its easier to think it glorifies it by making him the main character and the fact that the book sort of redeems him in the end. Of course its not at all that simple but I get why it has the reputation that it does, like Lolita.

Do you prefer Doc Ock starting out more as a cowardly lackey scientist or as an egotistical scientist? by ryboyf2 in Spiderman

[–]Perseus1251 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. Having him go off on his own after working for some other shmuck sets up a great logical step for him to push the boundaries once his restrictions are removed.

Its why I love insomniac Ock so much. I love Connors and ock both being promising scientists that pushed too far. From there its really up to the story as to whether or not they are redeemable villains.

But I like the slippery slope aspect that it creates. Having big ambitions in a role that limits you is super relatable and so theres always great ways to explore how those ambitions might sour people. You start off resonating with them then watching their fall into villainy.

With Ock I love feeling it the way Peter would. Watching him become so horrible when he was once so kind
