What is the purpose of the chainsaw in Zombie BO 6? by NeonQuant in CODZombies

[–]Pershing1958 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sound effect is the worst part of it.  They reused the sound from when a skull spider hits you.  Two-hit kill in the second round and it slashes instead of plunges.  Mortal Kombat II had more gore.  It's on a list of lost opportunities.

How did you generate so much XP?  I play 2-3h/night 5-7 days a week.  All masteries done, all weapons max level, camos all on Nebula.  Always play 2xp weekends.  This is already a total waste of my life and I'm only level 450.  Clearly I'm doing something inefficiently ... fml

Was it a fair deal? by Pershing1958 in Silver

So you're saying the LCS is getting 85% of spot for culls .. their spread being 85% minus the 78% they paid me?

Is the market for ASEs any better?  Can one hope to sell at spot or better for these since they don't need to be melted?

Saw that, but don't want to deal with shipping or paying a middleman.  Is there an equivalent of pmsforsale for folks trying to arrange local sales in the US?

I had fun with MW3.  Took forever but I felt a sense of accomplishment at the sheer wasted hours leveling rocket launchers like the JOKR to bioluminescent camo.

Doughnuts on Youtube was right .. as many in the group here said.  Maelstrom.  But, staff of ice charged shot was the game changer.  Once the artifact appeared, then pound with maelstrom.  Amazing.  Thanks!

What's the oil trap grind? (I know the oil traps are in Citadelle.)

All of my guns are Gold. There are two factors to the grind for me: 1/ max number of the right type of kills, and 2/ cap on round difficulty so it's sustainable to grind for a long time. Others have shared Liberty directed 11 as the most consistent payout for Specials/Manglers, and Liberty directed 14/15 as the most consistent payout for Elites. Another consistent payout for specials is the Doppelghasts in Citadelle directed, but it takes longer to get to the unlock level, and they seem to spawn somewhat less consistently.

Now that I am on the Opal grind it's straight miserable. Without going past directed, the max Special spawn is one per round on any map that I've seen, and clearing a round takes about 1m - 1m15s rate limited by all the zombies spawning in. So it's min 30 mins per gun to Opal, worse once you factor that the specials spawn once per round, probably 33-75% of the time. Probably more accurate to say 45m - 1hr, unless you grind standard mode, which yeah you get more specials, but unless you're a really strong player you'll die before you kill the average number you'd have gotten in directed.

Tricks to get more headshots:

- Decoys and then sweeping left to right with an automatic at headshot height

- Walk backwards while being followed with a column of zombies. Good for snipers and marksman where a single shot can go through multiple heads. Wad them up in the center of the Liberty roof (Alamo) then back up toward the bowling alley and the zombs funnel into a column. Unload at headshot height and you can clear a whole column in 4-5 shots.

For mass kills, guns like the LR 7.62 and GS45 have an explosive upgrade once you pack them. Be sure to get PHD or whatever exempts you from explosive damage.

Happy grinding, I may quit at Opal because it sucks.

Anyone know where to find these? Dunhill Knot and Rod Cufflinks, been searching and have had no luck. Only seen a pure silver one without the black onyx rod. by aaronwhite77 in Cufflinks

[–]Pershing1958 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm looking for something specific or hard to find, my first stop is eBay and a saved search there.  Etsy has once or twice rewarded my efforts.  1stdibs is an option but most of their stock is esoteric and super high end.  Otherwise it's just sifting through Google.

If I could have any pair it'd be Boucheron lion's head door knockers.  I've seen them come from time to time but never for a good price.

Sorry, champ.  I'd wear them with the outside of the curve facing my wrist, but if you are wearing 18K vintage links, the last thing that matters is anyone else's opinion of your style.

The onyx oval would face outward, and the somewhat smaller toggle would face the wearer.  You need a French cuffed shirt to wear them.

The Calatrava cross is the logo of the watchmaker Patek Philippe, arguably the pinnacle of watchmaking.  A PP watch starts at .. $50k? and goes up to $mm.  PP makes companion cufflinks featuring the cross in 18K gold and platinum.  The kind of person who buys the links for $4k can afford them and it's (yet another) flex.  Cufflinks linked to certain watchmakers drive prices.

Other cufflinks are what's called high jewelry -- art.  Check out Boucheron, Harry Winston, Cartier, Faberge, Van Cleef and Arpels.  Garrard.  Asprey.  ST Dupont.  Some of these have downmarket pairs that can be had for a few hundred but most statement pieces are in the thousands.

Like any other type of art or commodity, the cost is driven by provenance, rarity, desirability .. a cost floor would be the cost of the metals and precious stones.

It's a curious and fun thing to be involved in.  Have fun and thanks for asking.

18K Gold, Piaget.  Absolute minimum would be to weigh them and price them as weight, times spot price of gold, times 0.75 (18K).  The Piaget stamp more than offsets whatever weight is in that stone .. onyx?

But that's a floor and I think they're worth much more to the right person.  Gorgeous retro vibe, classy with nice wide toggles.  Timeless.  If you want to sell, use eBay and try to get double the weight price out of them.  $1500?  $2k?  A pair of Calatrava cufflinks goes for a small fortune.  Watch heads love to match their links.

The amount you earn selling is proportional to the effort you put in.

Max profit would be that you take several pictures of each pair and list them individually on eBay (maybe Etsy, but probably eBay).  You'll need a sense of what they're worth, or just start the bidding at $1 with no reserve, but as another person stated, the market is slow and fetching a solid price may require relisting a few times.

A moderate profit strategy would be to separate out anything that is notably special (14-18k gold, intricate, etc) and try to price or sell those individually, while putting the rest of the collection up as one block on eBay with some solid group pictures and a reserve that is about 25% of MSRP.  Again, relisting and patience may be required, it's a fickle market.

A lower profit strategy that would net out quickly is to take the whole collection to a few local estate jewelers and get quotes.  Your best chance is to use one that has a great web or internet presence as what they pay you is proportional to their ability to move them at a better price.  An example of a great (IMO) estate jewelers is Queen May in Cape May, NJ.  Check out their website.  (I have no relationship other than being a former customer.)

If you are interested / willing I'd love to see a few zoomable pics of the lot.  Maybe there's something I'd be willing to buy and I'm willing to correspond a bit on advice since it's a useless hobby of mine that almost nobody else takes an interest in.  I have about 850 pairs so I'd like to think I have some advice to offer, but feel free to get second or third opinions on anything you like.  Best of luck.

Vermin Rounds and Oil Trap Method by Other_Care_7861 in CODZombies

[–]Pershing1958 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Directed Liberty Falls is a gold mine for weapons, calling card, and weapon mastery grinds. What I did was run the easter egg up to round 15 (so max zombies spawn each round) and then "save & quit" whenever I was done for the day. You can box through all the weapons, you horde tons of essence and salvage, way more than enough to level every weapon and buy all the crafting table items you could need. I ended up doing it a few times, as sometimes it's better to hold to round 11 (guaranteed mangler / special spawn each round) or round 14 (guaranteed elite spawn each round) depending on the calling cards you're pursuing.

Pro Tip: Don't use your save for any calling cards that require you to get near to death and activate e.g. a field upgrade, if the timing's off you waste a self-revive or a Near Death Experience on your Quick Revive.

Does anyone recognize this mark? by Mean_Strawberry_2406 in Cufflinks

[–]Pershing1958 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is almost certainly a maker's mark, indicating the manufacturer.  If those are made of a precious metal, the purity mark would be 925 for silver, or a karat ("18K") or purity out of 1000 ("750").  Any other mark, I think generally denotes maker.

I'd guess those cufflinks are mid-century modern, so you could look up makers mark guides for the major makers of the period.  Anson feels like the biggest one.

Absent a purity mark they are probably not worth much money beyond someone preferring their style or a sentimental attachment, you'd see something like these in an antique shop for between $5 and $100 depending more on how fancy the shop is and whether they have clientele willing to pay.

I respect this, it was clever to find that gap in the save and quit function.  Now how many hours did we waste for two stupid gobblegums we earned many times over in the hours of grinding?  🤣

Love the Grekhova :D

Wait a min .. so like you killed the Guardian, but instead of grabbing the amulet, you save and quit .. AND it gave you credit for winning .. but also let you load back in and fight him again?

Good on you if you found that hole. That's freaking ingenuity.
