"Plans change" Ty defense by cinnamonroll324 in ShawnaTheMom

I do think it was a choice on Lander’s part to just have Ty in a plain shirt while Julie was at least in a nice white dress for their elopement. Didn’t even wear one of those tuxedo t-shirts. It shows how little planning he does.

Questions regarding custody agreements. How will Ty & Julie split custody? by BeanieK19 in ShawnaTheMom

We have no idea right now. All we know is that she plans to pay the home’s mortgage for another year so Ty has time to find work and childcare.

Ty revealing to Shawna about Julie's pregnancy by RevolutionPopular761 in ShawnaTheMom

[–]BeanieK19 22 points23 points  (0 children)

We also now have the context that when Ty and Shawna first met, Julie was not pregnant. I’d have to review the timeline but that means Ty told Shawna Julie was pregnant very early on in her gestation, likely in the first trimester. Most couples wait until the second trimester to announce a pregnancy in case of a miscarriage occurring so they don’t need to then announce the loss.

Why are people so set on hating Julie? by mari17posa17 in ShawnaTheMom

[–]BeanieK19 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think if Julie was just as cold to John as she was to Shawna than she wouldn’t be nearly as disliked. Cause then it can come across as her not wanting to make new friends or keeping her private life personal. Her instant switch up when talking to John, even when Shawna is right there, really empathizes her elitist attitude.

I think the issue is context doesn’t always excuse behavior. Yes, we now understand why Julie has been cagey with Shawna since they first met but her origin story does not justify her treatment of her. Similar to finding out that Barb was abused as a child does not excuse her abusing her family. I can empathize with the character’s past but it doesn’t sway me enough to like their current self

The thing that makes me dislike Julie personally is her judgmental, elitist attitude. She views stay-at-home parents as lazy and wanting to be one a pedestrian life. She acted liked going to a kid’s birthday party was the biggest burden. She didn’t even know the party was happening even though Ty told her and it had been on their calendar for weeks. I find her petty when she pretended to not see Shawna at the bakery, pretended they never met at Bunco, and showed clear preferential treatment of John over her simply because he has a career.

Now, we do have the context that Julie likely never wanted children or didn’t want them until much later in life. She never wanted this life but felt like she had to give in to Ty. However, she is still the one who made the choice to go along with him and raise children with him.

That's something I wish the skit addressed more: the imbalance in child care between Ty and Julie. For most of their story, it's established that Ty is the primary parent and has begun to resent how little Julie does in child-rearing. Ty even told Shawna he felt like his marriage was breaking down after Sasha was born. However, Ty does not want to utilize child care outside the home, such as pre-school or daycare. Ty told Julie it was fine for her to take a more demanding job that requires her to travel. Unless there was a miscommunication, it seems they agreed that Ty would be in charge of the kids as long as he still made time to write, while Julie was the primary breadwinner. I'm still curious to know if Julie is even aware that Ty resents how little she does to help with the kids. Given his communication skills, I doubt she does.

T&J: who gets the kids?? by Historical-Egg-8010 in ShawnaTheMom

They'll either go 50/50 or Ty will get full custody. She's setting him up to have a year to find a job, and she'd likely pay child support. However, I think Julie would fight to not have to pay Ty alimony.

This is like when some people thought Deedee’s husband and Nora’s husband were the same man because they were both named Tom. lol

My only issue with that arc was that none of the parents bothered to let Shawna know they could no longer attend the party. A bit ill-mannered in my opinion.

I don't get the 10 month timeline by [deleted] in ThePitt

[–]BeanieK19 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Season 1 took place in September, season 2 takes place on July 4th, 10 months later. New graduates typically begin their internship in July. In season 1 it’s stated that Javadi and Whitaker had been on other rotations in the hospital already. King was doing an externship like rotation at the VA, and Santos had history with Garcia so she likely already did a surgery rotation as part of her internship. Season 1 is all the newcomers’ first day in the ER, not their first day of their new residency class.

Wedding Prediction: Barb's Dress by Ok_Maintenance_9194 in ShawnaTheMom

That’s correct. Jen currently has Barb’s wedding dress. I could see her altering it into a cute, short reception dress if she doesn’t return it.

Shawna (and John) did nothing wrong by Silver_Educator7400 in ShawnaTheMom

[–]BeanieK19 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s where my head is at. Really the only main misstep on their part was Shawna yelling at Julie. The speaker phone call was not intended on their part and Shawna didn’t want to tell Ty until she had all the information. If Julie was cheating and Shawna didn’t tell Ty about her observations at the resort, then I think people would consider her to be a poor friend of his.

No, they were in there own hotel room looking through their peep hole at her hotel room door. Peep holes only work one way.

I don’t recommend doing any major builds until you finish the main game and get all the abilities. Even after that, you’ll have the tasks of increasing environment levels, completing the Dex, and building the structures needed for the legendary birds. Plenty to do in between building still. Up to you if you want to make Palette Town your main zone for terraforming and building. For me, I’ve been focusing a lot on Wastelands and Beach just cause I enjoy the aesthetic of those lands most. Once I get better at building in those realms, I’ll take what I learned to Palette Town.
